Freshman have been pretty much off limits.

Hmmm probably just because he is a kicker and people don't see him "as important"  (although he is)

As for the other freshmen they seem to be not "off-limits"....Reed, Dyer, and other key freshmen have video interviews and video of them practicing on Rivals webpage.

Anyone know if Parkey will be on kickoff duties or are they looking at redshirting him this season?  He has a hell of a leg to ride the pine when he could give us near a 50% endzone percentage.

I would like to see us utilize his leg on kickoffs.  I think he has a stronger leg than Brooks.  Besides, having a dedicated Kickoff Specialist takes pressure of of Byrum also.  He would be able to put 100% concentration on Field Goals.

While there is a Parkey thread opened up, I have a question that I haven't seen an answer to.  What make Parkey so solid to Auburn during his recruitment?  He seemed to never waiver, just wondering if he had ties to the school or just felt that it was exactly where he belonged.

It was funny, I met his dad over Thanksgiving in Atlanta when visiting.  His dad played at GT and was trying to have him go there and his son would have none if it.

If Byrum has NFL aspirations then that is not a good idea. NFL teams have to have someone that can kickoff and kick feild goals. They dont have room for 2 kickers because of roster limits.

Only a few have been granted interviews by Chizik. Like you said yourself, just a handful out of 28.

I completely agree - and I know that what I am about to say does not outweigh the overall need to kick it deep every time - BUT - I never get tired of watching that onside kick that Byrum pulled off in the Iron Bowl. That has to be one of the prettiest things I have ever seen on a football field.....Nice to have that in your back pocket :)

I agree WDR, but Byrum has never been consistent on kickoffs when given the chance.  I would love to see him be able to kick it in the end zone every time.  He has not shown that ability in the past.

If CP can knock it in the endzone every time when WB and CB can't, I'd say let him do it.

WB is not going to make it to the big leagues by kicking it to the 20 yard line everytime.

Our Kickoff team was terrible last year because we could not kick it past the 10 yard line.  Most times, we would have been better off just kicking it out of bounds.  If CP can kick it into the end zone, I say get him out there.  It will make a HUGE difference to our defense if they can start at the 20 yard line instead of the 45 or 50.  I am sure Stat could tell us the average starting position of the opposition but it seems like it was at least the 30 yard line or worse.  Also, with the 85 rule, we can't afford to RS players if want to keep recruiting the way we have been last year and this one.

WDE!
