Out of curiosity, have we previously had a Big Cat event without a composite 5 Star attending?

Trey Hill & Justyn Ross will be 5*s before the cycle is over as well as 2019 WR who visited Dominic Blaylock.

People will take this as being overly negative but whatevs I will ask it anyway. I will preface this by saying I full expect to get commits out of big cat eventually but is this the first year ever one did not pop for us on the actual big cat weekend publicly?

Nope.

Big Cat Weekend almost always — 2009 and 2014 are the exceptions — secures a commitment.

The way you phrased your question 2014 is out. Chandler Cox popped even though he didn't attend BCW.

Auburn makes major moves at Big Cat Weekend

Which Big Cat Weekend attendees will be playing in Jordan-Hare Stadium?
Benjamin Wolk/SEC Country

AUBURN, Ala. — Call it a successful midsummer recruiting event for Auburn.

Big Cat Weekend concluded without any commitments, but the Tigers made up a lot of ground on many of its top targets in the nation. All in all, Auburn hosted more than 30 prospects who all have the Tigers among their favorite programs.

As a result, plenty of intel came from interviews following the event.

Check out what SEC Country learned at Big Cat Weekend.

5-star WR Justyn Ross, Central (Ala.)

  • It was Ross’ first visit with his mother since she returned from her National Guard deployment in Kuwait.
  • He’ll visit Alabama on Sunday.
  • Ross still plans to make a National Signing Day commitment.
  • Auburn’s commitments have made it a priority to recruit Ross.

5-star LB JJ Peterson, Colquitt Co. (Ga.)

  • Alabama still leads for the No. 1 inside linebacker in the nation, but Auburn has firmly put itself in the No. 2 spot. No. 3 is Oregon, No. 4 is Georgia and No. 5 is Michigan.
  • Peterson mentioned Alabama’s business-like approach to recruiting has a stronger effect on him than the some of the activity-based recruitment that went along with Big Cat Weekend.
  • With that said, my intel says the Tigers are the only school with a chance to top Alabama.

4-star WR Tommy Bush, Samuel Clemens (Texas)

IMG_9347_dkzu8m.jpg
Auburn WR target Tommy Bush said his first visit to the school was a good one. (Benjamin Wolk/SEC Country)
  • It was Bush’s first visit to Auburn, and he said it “exceeded expectations.”
  • As far as first visits go, Bush said it couldn’t have gone better, citing the coaching staff’s friendliness.
  • His trek through the Southeast continues with his next stop being Tennessee. Bush went to Georgia before visiting Auburn.
  • He comes from a family of athletes. His father ran a 4.3 as a cornerback and attended Troy University. His mother was a track star.
  • Bush’s father was an officer in the Air Force, which resulted in Bush living all over — Alaska, Kansas, Florida, Texas and Germany. As a result, Bush isn’t tied to the state of Texas like some in-state prospects.
  • Bush plans to visit the Tigers again before making any decisions.

4-star ILB Michael Harris, Tucker (Ga.)

  • Harris hasn’t stopped admitting his lifelong fandom of Ohio State, but he still hasn’t visited Columbus. He’ll do that on June 17, which is a major date for Auburn to watch. He wants to see if the coaching staff is as welcoming in-person as they are over text messages and phone calls.
  • Will Harris’ recruitment be affected at all by the Ohio State commitment of linebacker Teradja Mitchell? Harris said it’s possible. It’s part of the reason he wants to make that trip to Columbus.
  • If it does affect things, Auburn is clearly in position to swoop in and grab him. The Tigers are his No. 2 school.
  • His relationship with Travis Williams is stronger than with any other coach in the country.
  • Alabama is a school to watch here. The Crimson Tide haven’t made a major push yet, but he will camp in Tuscaloosa on Sunday. He said Alabama has an opportunity to work its way into the mix.

4-star WR Matthew Hill, Brookwood (Ga.)

  • Hill said he told the Auburn coaching staff the Tigers are his new leaders after recently releasing a top 5 that includes Alabama, LSU, Florida and South Carolina.
  • Why is Auburn on top? He grew up an Auburn fan, and that fandom is playing a role in his decision-making process.
  • Hill plans to decide within the next month.

4-star CB Kyler McMichael, Greater Atlanta Christian (Ga.)

IMG_9392_m0bldz.jpg
Auburn DB target Kyler McMichael expects to be back on the Plains in the near future. (Benjamin Wolk/SEC Country)
  • He returned for his second time in the last month. Once again, he called the visit a resounding success.
  • The Tigers talked with him about the potential of having some reps on offense, as opposed to just cornerback like most schools. Clemson is the only other program that presented him with that potential.
  • McMichael wanted to decide during the summer, but said on Saturday that he’s likely to push that back a little.
  • He said he will visit Auburn “as much as possible” in the next few months.

4-star DL commit Daquan Newkirk, Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C.

  • Newkirk hasn’t been to Auburn since he visited during the 2016 recruiting cycle.
  • He isn’t just participating in Big Cat Weekend. He arrived on June 1 and will be in Auburn until June 5.
  • Nothing has changed with his commitment. He’s just glad to be back on campus with the coaching staff still feeling as positively about him as they did before.
  • Auburn thinks he can be an interior or exterior defensive lineman.

4-star OLB Channing Tindall, Spring Valley (S.C.)

  • Tindall called Auburn his No. 2 school, just behind home-state South Carolina.
  • The stock-rising linebacker attended the same high school as Travis Williams, his lead recruiter and potential position coach, which has been the main reason Auburn has gone from off the radar to firmly in the mix. He’s still trying to beat Williams’ record for tackles in a game.
  • Tindall said Florida and Georgia are the other two schools that can get into contention.
  • South Carolina’s lead over Auburn exists, but it’s not a major lead.

4-star OLB Quay Walker, Crisp County (Ga.)

  • Walker didn’t stay for the duration of the event to head to Tuscaloosa, which should give you an idea of where his head is at.
  • While he didn’t do interviews, SEC Country gathered information that Alabama remains his No. 1 school with Auburn filing in at No. 2.

3-star DT Jalen Cunningham, St. Clair Co. (Ala.)

  • Alabama has led for Cunningham throughout, and that hasn’t changed, but he’s starting to open up to the idea of playing elsewhere.
  • He said when his recruitment first started that, as an Alabama fan growing up, he couldn’t stand the idea of even visiting Auburn. That has changed in a major way. His closeness and relationship with the Auburn coaching staff has opened his eyes to the Tigers.
  • If Alabama isn’t the choice, it’ll be Ole Miss, Mississippi State or Auburn.
  • Every coaching staff has told Cunningham he needs to lose weight. He’s down to 352 pounds and wants to be down to 330 by his senior season.

3-star safety Joe Foucha, McDonogh 35 (La.)

IMG_9375_geutgv.jpg
Auburn DB target Joe Foucha grew up an Auburn fan because of Cam Newton. (Benjamin Wolk/SEC Country)
  • Foucha’s recently-released top 15 could be close to another cutdown. Auburn will be in that group when he makes it a top 2 or top 3.
  • The other programs to watch are Alabama and Florida State.
  • This was Foucha’s second trip to Auburn in a month and said that should give an idea how highly he’s considering Auburn.
  • Foucha grew up an Auburn fan, thanks to his love for Cam Newton.
  • He will make a return visit to Auburn before the summer is over.

3-star DE Andres Fox, Mobile Christian (Ala.)

  • Fox didn’t commit despite some belief that he might. He said that’s because he told the other two schools he’s considering — LSU and Alabama — that he’d visit with his parents before making his final decision.
  • With that said, Fox admitted Auburn made even more of a jump up his list, which he’d already hinted had the Tigers at No. 1.
  • He isn’t publicly announcing any leaders at this time, but the Tigers are the team to beat.

3-star OLB La’Dedric Jackson, Lanier (Ala.)

  • He will return to the Plains on June 15 for a personal workout with coaches who want to re-evaluate him.

3-star WR Shedrick Jackson, Hoover (Ala.)

  • Jackson was another person on commit watch, but said he didn’t get the urge to commit Saturday. That’s not because there isn’t a chance he will; he just came into the day knowing that his decision was still a few weeks away.
  • Jackson has quickly emerged as a major want for the Tigers. If he doesn’t end up in the Tigers’ class, it would be a big surprise.

3-star safety Jamien Sherwood, Jensen Beach (Fla.)

IMG_9370_yhz13z.jpg
Auburn DB target Jamien Sherwood expects to commit sometime this fall. (Benjamin Wolk/SEC Country)
  • Sherwood made another visit to Auburn after attending a junior day earlier in the spring. He said this visit was more about letting coaches and himself open up to one another on a level they hadn’t before.
  • Despite being recruited by all the schools in the state of Florida, Sherwood suggested there’s a good chance he’d be willing to leave the state and specifically mentioned Auburn as a place that’s eight hours away, which he considers “not that far.”
  • His mother made the visit with him, and he said that Auburn has quickly become one of the favorite programs for her.
  • Sherwood wants to take a few more visits — another to Auburn included — before hopefully making a mid-fall decision.

3-star CB Juanyeh Thomas, Niceville (Fla.)

  • Thomas didn’t commit, but he said he thought about it on more than one occasion. He wants to let a few more visits play out, including more to Auburn, before he announces.
  • With that said, Thomas said it was possible that, when he returns to Auburn in mid-July, that he will already have his mind made up.
  • He didn’t want to name a leader — even though all the tea leaves say Auburn — but said the Tigers are recruiting him at a much different comfort level than the other two programs he’s heavily considering, Florida and Georgia Tech.
  • Thomas got to spend some time with Eli Stove, a past Big Cat commit, who attended the same high school as him in Niceville, Fla.
  • Thomas also said he got the contact info for a few other defensive back targets that he would like to play with at the next level.

Elllitor, a question for you. Any insight on Larry Porters impact on this class? He's known as one of the nations top recruiters and it seems like his name is rarely mentioned with AUs top recruits. We need him to have a big impact in my opinion.

Really can't tell til NSD since he is the TE coach & that board hasn't been decided yet. On his territories he has Montgomery in Alabama. There is nobody there we want except maybe Tank Jenkins. His Florida territory is So. Fla & Richt has that area on lock down right now. His Georgia area is North & East of ATL & he is doing a good job there as he has us with a real shot with 4 guys & a commit from Jalil Irvin being the lead recruiter. Overall first year recruiters at a new school may not make a major impact in year 1 because it's all about relationships with the recruit & the recruiting pool available at one school in terms of that school having a legit shot is not always the same as the new school. That is definitely the case with UNC compared to AU in some cases. Another thing. As long as Gus is here the focal point of our recruiting is always going to be Alabama, Georgia, & Florida. Outside of his part of Georgia the other states he has strengths in from his previous jobs, Texas & Louisiana, are not going to be a major recruiting focus for us in most cases. Here is his targets list. He's the lead recruiter on 4 guys we have a real shot to land & secondary on a 5th, mainly from his Georgia area.

4* OT Dylan Wonnum
4* DE Caleb Tannor
4* LB Michael Harris
3* TE Tyneil Hopper
3* TE Zach Sheffer

These next nuggets are free posts from the 247 real time thread from yesterday.

Quote

I keep hearing Jamien Sherwood is at the top of the board at safety. Tigers love him. Same with Miami, UF, FSU

Quote

Auburn now is in the lead for DE Andres Fox. He said the Tigers are his co-leaders ... but wouldn't say with which school. It's Alabama or LSU.
Wants to visit both of those schools, then have a decision in August.
Still says LSU is recruiting him the hardest, but noted that Saturday's visit was a major positive for AU.

Quote

WR Tommy Bush is spending the night

Justyn Ross is expected to return to AU with his mom in a few days

AU thinks it really has made up some ground with cornerback Kyler McMichael ... Believe he really fits the culture at AU -- same for his family

One of the reasons Shedrick Jackson is waiting to announce: He wants to maybe commit via video or live stream

Asa Martin I think snuck away maybe without doing any interviews .... But he did send me a message to say it went really well and had lots of fun Saturday.

Am told linebacker JJ Peterson is NOT going back to Alabama tonight.

LB Michael Harris is staying the night ... That's a good thing for AU

More good news: D-end Caleb Tannor is spending the night

WR Shedrick Jackson says a decision is coming in the next 2 weeks most likely. Won't name a leader but said today's visit got him "closer" to a decision

Matthew Hill says today was a plus for AU. Not quite ready to made a decision but getting there

Quote

4-star OL Trey Hill genuinely is wide open per Hill -- and his family -- and they say this one could go deep into the winter.
He'll be an early enrollee.
They're making it sound like AU certainly has a shot. Trey wants to visit a lot of schools this summer then start to narrow things down.
Relationships with OL coach Herb Hand and the AU staff are what they like most about AU.

Quote

Really sounds like AU made a significant move with both safety Jamien Sherwood and cornerback Kyler McMichael

Quote

With cornerback Kyler McMichael .... Auburn has made a major move.
He planned on making a commitment soon. Now, he wants to hold off until he can maybe take some official visits.

Quote

This was receiver Justyn Ross' first college visit with his mom. They will be hitting Alabama together tomorrow. Timeline hasn't changed...expects to narrow his list down to top five before the season.
Auburn is still one of his "top schools" on his list, but was vague about what other teams were part of that.

Quote

Kameron Stutts plans on staying in touch with some of the guys he met Saturday and continue to recruit them a little bit. One guy he spent a lot of time with Saturday was running back Asa Martin. Stutts sound confident in his decision and is telling other teams he's pretty much set.
Also, he was very happy to win the pie-eating contest.

Word is, things are going well with Jamien Sherwood

Four-star linebacker JJ Peterson says Auburn's stock continues to rise.

Does Auburn have a legitimate shot with JJ Peterson of Colquitt County (Ga.), the No. 2 outside linebacker in the 247Sports Composite?

“Yes,” Peterson said following Saturday’s Big Cat Weekend visit with the Tigers.

The biggest reason for that: Peterson’s relationship with linebackers coach Travis Williams, who he said he is closer with than any college coach in the country.

“It’s because of T-Will and how they do everything down here,” Peterson noted. “I don’t know what it is. It’s just something to him that I really like, that attracts me to him."

Peterson is one of Auburn’s top linebacker targets. Two months ago, the Tigers weren’t really in the picture.

But a visit to Auburn this spring and a budding relationship with Williams changed that.

Today, they sit in the No. 2 spot but seem to have inched a little closer to No. 1 Alabama (which he visited earlier in the week) on Saturday during Peterson’s second visit to Auburn.

“They’re close-close,” Peterson said. “This made me more comfortable with them. I got to know more about them today. It went good.”

For Peterson, who was accompanied on the trip by his daughter and his coach at Colquitt County, Rush Propst, a decision isn’t likely to come until sometime during his senior season.

AUBURN | Five-star wide receiver Justyn Ross attended Big Cat as a junior in 2016, but this year’s version was different.

Not because of the contests or games, but because of who was with him: his mother.

“This was her first visit,” Ross said of his mother, who had been serving overseas and only recently returned home. “It was real nice to finally get her on a visit.”

It was a good day for Ross and his mother to visit. Auburn’s Big Cat was more about family and fun than recruiting and depth charts.

Ross was one of 33 recruits to attend the festivities Saturday in Auburn.

“It was a lot of fun. I liked it a lot,” Ross said. “I got to meet a lot of recruits.”

He also got to see some of the recruits compete in a pie-eating contest, which was won by Auburn offensive line commit Kameron Stutts.

“My favorite part was probably watching the pie-eating contest and seeing big Kam getting in there and go to work,” Ross said. “It was a lot of fun.”

Ross and his mother met with coach Gus Malzahn, offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey and wide receivers coach Kodi Burns. Sophomore quarterback Jarrett Stidham also spoke with Ross.

“It went good,” Ross said. “(Stidham) didn’t say much about recruiting. We were just talking about Big Cat.”

Ross, from Central High in Phenix City, doesn’t plan to make his college decision until later in the process. Auburn, he said, would be a major factor for him when he does.

“They are still at the top, one of the top schools,” Ross said. “I have a real good relationship with all of the coaching staff, and it’s right up the road.”

Ross and his mother next will visit Alabama, which they are scheduled to do on Sunday. A return trip to Auburn this summer also is in the works, although a date has not been set.

“I’ll be back for sure,” Ross said.

Some of these nuggets may overlap but I saw sone interesting new info in there so I figured I would post them

                        Quote

                        • 2019 WR Dominick Blaylock wanted to make it over to Auburn after being at Georgia on Friday. He’ll visit Clemson next week. Blaylock said he plans to make a private decision in August and go public with it later in the fall. He’ll choose between Auburn, Georgia and Clemson when he decides.
                        • Top Auburn linebacker target Quay Walker is staying away from interview requests for the time being as he closes in on a decision. He just left Auburn and will camp at Alabama on Sunday.
                        • 2019 athlete Jammie Robinson, who is high school teammates with Quay Walker, just left Big Cat Weekend. He is high on Auburn, though not willing to name leaders yet. He’s closest with Greg Brown, primarily because that’s the position Auburn has recruited him most heavily.
                        • Auburn offensive line commit Kameron Stutts won a pie-eating contest at the event. He’s also focused in on Asa Martin, Justyn Ross and fellow offensive linemen Amari Kight as guys he has tried to help recruit.
                        • Auburn defensive line commit Daquan Newkirk is visiting Auburn for the first time in two years, and he’ll stay until June 3. Newkirk is as committed as ever and called it “refreshing” to be back on campus for the first time in such a long time.
                        • In-state defensive tackle Jalen Cunningham said that a few schools have started to even up with Alabama for his favorite. Auburn, Mississippi State and Ole Miss, in particular, are making an impression on him. He’s still working to cut weight. Cunningham is down to 352 pounds and hopes to get to 330.
                        • 5-star receiver Justyn Ross took his first college visit with his mother since she returned from her deployment in Kuwait. He’s looking forward to getting to a few places with her to help make the decision. Ross admitted the proximity to home is something that matters a lot to his mother, probably a little more than it means to him. He’ll visit Alabama on Sunday.
                        • Newly-offered Tramel Walthour made his first visit to the Plains and called it a resounding success. Auburn and Georgia could be in for a battle here. He visited Georgia on Thursday and Auburn on Saturday. He’ll wait and see to see if a few other offers pour in. It should be noted: He grew up a Georgia fan.
                        • Texas wide receiver Tommy Bush is in the middle of a southeast-wide round trip that began Friday and will run for more than a week. He plans to visit most of the places in the SEC with Georgia first and Auburn second. He said Auburn “exceeded” expectations. The Tigers’ coaching staff surprised him with how welcoming they were for his first visit. He plans to return.
                        • Auburn wants to have an up-close-and-personal workout with La’Dedric Jackson who will return on June 15 to do so.
                        • Cornerback Juanyeh Thomas didn’t commit at Big Cat Weekend, but it definitely crossed his mind. The smile on his face when he talks about Auburn was unmatched by any other prospects. Florida and Georgia Tech have the best chance to upend Auburn, but Thomas is the Tigers’ target to lose. He’ll return to Auburn in July, likely ready to make a final decision.
                        • Top linebacker target Michael Harris has Auburn securely in the No. 2 spot, just behind Ohio State, the school he grew up loving. Auburn still has a legitimate chance here. The Buckeyes landed linebacker Teradja Mitchell on Friday, and Harris admitted it could begin to affect space in the class. Alabama is another school who, when he visits Sunday, could make an impression on him and work its way into the conversation. Still, Auburn sits in great shape for one of its top targets.
                        • Auburn offered Charles McClelland last week, and it shocked him. He didn’t think he’d ever receive an SEC offer, and that has changed. The Tigers have quickly emerged as his leader, but it’s unknown right now what kind of push the Tigers will make for the defensive back.
                        • Channing Tindall made his long-awaited visit to Auburn. He said Auburn has worked its way into the No. 2 spot over Florida and Georgia, but still sits behind the home-state South Carolina Gamecocks. His relationship with Travis Williams — who attended the same high school as him — will be Auburn’s key to success.
                        • Wide receiver target Matthew Hill told Auburn’s staff that the Tigers lead because he grew up an Auburn fan. That will give the Tigers a major advantage as he narrows in on a decision in the next month.
                        • Defensive back Jamien Sherwood made his second visit in as many months. He came with his mother who has a very high opinion of Auburn. Sherwood is impressed with the Tigers and, while still not willing to name leaders, claimed Auburn is in a top group that he’ll consider going forward. Summer visits will be the biggest factor in his ultimate decision.
                        • Wide receiver Shedrick Jackson didn’t commit despite some chatter he might. He said, however, that a decision is imminent, so keep an eye out for that in the next two to three weeks. Jackson enjoyed the opportunity to see coaches in a different light than he normally would.
                        • Louisiana safety Joe Foucha made his second visit this spring and said the Tigers worked their way into a guaranteed spot in his top two or three schools. That’s saying a lot considering he just released a top 15 that included most of the top programs in the nation.
                        • Top offensive lineman Trey Hill has visited Auburn a lot in his time as a recruit, so the visit didn’t change much. Hill and wide receiver target Kearis Jackson want to play together. Auburn, Florida State, Southern Cal and Georgia are the four programs who are heavily recruiting both of them.
                        • Defensive end Andres Fox made the visit with both of his parents — both Alabama fans — and said they’re becoming much more open to the idea of him playing for Auburn. He told the Alabama and LSU staffs that he’d take at least one more visit before make any kind of commitment.
                        • Cornerback Kyler McMichael made his second recent trip and, once again, was blown away by Auburn. Alabama, Florida State, Auburn and Clemson are the four schools he said are recruiting him the hardest. McMichael said Auburn talked to him about possibly taking some offensive reps, as well, which is an attractive option to the cornerback.

Juanyeh Thomas plans August commitment between Auburn, Florida, Ga. Tech

Juanyeh Thomas nearly decided to commit to Auburn during Big Cat Weekend, but the three-star receiver will wait until later in the summer to commit.

Thomas got to see fellow Niceville, Fla. native Eli Stove during his latest visit to the Plains.

"(The commitment) didn't happen, but every time I come back here I just feel more at home," Thomas said. "I haven't had a direct date but I just know some time in August before the season."

Thomas most enjoyed getting to know more of Auburn's other recruiting targets and commits during Big Cat Weekend.

"I think the bonding was the best of the day," he said.

He did not want to name a leader among the schools recruiting him but said Auburn is recruiting him the most and Florida and Georgia Tech are also in the mix.

"All the colleges mostly recruit the same way as far as how much they want you and all," Thomas said. "The difference between Florida and Auburn is Auburn is more closely related to Niceville and that's a plus in recruitment."

Thomas plans to visit Auburn again, as well as Florida and Georgia Tech, in July and "a couple of more schools are coming on the radar" as he nears a decision.

"It's a toss-up between all three of them," Thomas said. "If I would go on any other campus I would have something great to say about them too. ... When it's time, it'll be that time to commit. I'm just waiting on coming back here again.

Things changed a lot' for New Orleans DB Joe Foucha after Auburn visit

Joe Foucha couldn't wait to start his second visit to Auburn.

The New Orleans safety was among the contingent of players who visited the Plains during Big Cat Weekend and it made a big impression on him.

"It went really well, everything I expected it to be," Foucha said. "I was very excited about today. we got here around 10 (on Friday). I was up at 4 in the morning all the way until 8, like it's the first day of school, I was excited to be here. I was up all morning anxious to get here."

After a visit in which football took a backseat to developing relationships with the coaching staff and some friendly competition, Auburn is at the top of his list of 15 schools.

"I would say Auburn is leading right now right now out of the top 15," Foucha said. "I don't know (what other schools will be), but they'll definitely be in my top 2, top 3. ... Great school, school I've been looking at since I was young. Great opportunity to play, good coaches showed me a lot of things, showed me it's more than football today."

Foucha considered committing to Auburn on Saturday but will likely wait to make his decision.

He plans to visit Alabama on Monday on Monday as well as Florida State over the summer.

"I plan on going (to Alabama) and performing, showing my skill level," Foucha said. "I'm going to wait but as time go by, things may change, things may not, it depends. Like today, things changed today, things changed a lot today because this is my second time coming up.

"I was very excited and it change my mind a lot."

** Dominick Blaylock is a four-star recruit from Walton High School in Marietta, Ga., said his top three are Auburn, Georgia and Clemson. He's a class of 2019 recruit, so a long way from signing, but said he wants to make a silent commitment in August and go public sometime later. He is the No. 10 prospect in the 247Sports composite in 2019.

** Elite Duluth, Ga., cornerback Kyler McMichael says there have been talks from Auburn about playing defense and offense. He says the four schools coming after him the hardest are Auburn, Alabama, Clemson and Florida State. He'll probably decide after season starts.

** Four-star Mobile Christian DE Andres Fox says Auburn is tied at the top with either Alabama or LSU, but won't say which one. His next trip to Alabama likely June 17.

** Four-star Cordele, Ga., linebacker Quay Walker left without talking to reporters, but Kevin Steele was escorting he and his mother out. So he seems like a priority target. Alabama is also in the mix.

** Jammie Robinson, a three-star athlete from Cordele, Ga., in class of 2019, says Auburn is recruiting him as a DB. Most fun thing was the scavenger hunt. No favorites. He went to same high school as Markaviest Bryant.

** Auburn OL commit Kam Stutts won the pie-eating contest. It was banana cream.

** Auburn DL JUCO commit Daquan Newkirk had a cast on his right arm. Said he messed up the middle finger but he'll be OK in three weeks. Very solid to Auburn and supposed to finish midyear.

** Great visit for 5-star WR Justyn Ross. It was his mom's first visit since coming back from deployment. No change among leaders. He's going to Alabama tomorrow.

** Auburn is second for Moultrie, Ga., linebacker JJ Peterson. Alabama, where he went last week, is No. 1., but he has a good bond with Travis Williams.

** Auburn can be somewhat considered the leader for Snellville, Ga., four-star Matthew Hill, because he's a lifelong fan. South Carolina, Alabama also coming in real hard, so that's why he hasn't committed yet. Likely a summer decision.

** Auburn third for St. Clair Co., DL Jalen Cunningham behind Alabama and Mississippi State. He's down to 6-4, 353, so he's lost 10-12 pounds in last month.

** Michael Harris is an elite 4-star LB from Tucker, Ga. It's pretty much Ohio State and Auburn for him. Surprised he hasn't committed to Auburn yet but he wants to give Ohio State a chance on his visit there later this month.

** Auburn is pretty much at the top or in the top two right now for New Orleans safety Joseph Foucha. They are leading now, but he's got a top 15 and needs to take other visits to whittle down to a top five.

** Hoover WR Shedrick Jackson didn't commit, but seems like he might in a couple of weeks somewhere. Have to like Auburn's chances, though he did say he wants to visit Missouri this fall.

** Jensen Beach, Fla., safety Jamien Sherwood leaves the visit high on Auburn, but no real definite top group or leader, it seems.

** Four-star Texas receiver Tommy Bush had a good visit. Seems pretty wide open.

** Sidney Lanier linebacker La'Dedric Jackson is hoping for an Auburn offer. He'll camp on June 15.

** Good visit with Jackson-Olin DL Coynis Miller and his mother. Still same story - many think it's an in-state battle but he wants to see schools like Florida and Clemson as well. He may make a decision before the season.

** Fort Valley, Ga., star receiver Kearis Jackson's four main he seems to be focusing on are Auburn, Georgia, Michigan and Ohio State.

** Auburn recently offered Homerville, Ga., athlete Charles McClelland. It's Auburn, Tulane and Cincinnati right now for this under the radar prospect. He says Auburn leads.
