I actually disagree, regardless of coach. I believe big-time in the pendulum theory for college sports. You get a bunch of 18-22 year olds and they're either very hungry or very complacent. You see it on a week to week basis and with Auburn you see it year to year. 

I am not saying that to support Gus. I want him gone. I want someone who doesn't depend on the pendulum and can actually avoid it swinging backward. But it's a real thing. I think we win 9 (counting bowl).

The only reason Leath was the one to agree to Gus's contract last year was because we didn't have a new AD in place yet. But a year later we have an AD in place and Leath still gets to be the one to make the decision regarding Gus? Why even have an AD then if he doesn't get to make a decision about the highest paid coach in the athletic department?

Bruce Pearl wasn't Greene's hire either yet he was able to fight for Bruce, according to our insiders on here. Yet now Greene is powerless when it comes to Gus. That doesn't make sense much less anything else that's been reported involving the Gus situation.

Might as well let Leath make all the athletic department decisions and not even have an AD if this is how things are going to be decided. Especially when this decision involves such a big chunk of money. I hope Leath and the big money boosters have given some serious thought to how much money will be lost in season tickets and other money for the university with fewer people attending games next season. This isn't going to end well I'm afraid.

Leath didn't negotiate Pearl's contract.  He did for Gus.  Gus is Leath's guy.  Pearl was not.  That's your difference.

I'm sure Leath still had to approve Pearl's new contract this summer, did he not? He may not have been the one that negotiated the contract extension like he did for Gus but I'll be surprised if he still didn't have to sign off on it, correct?

Georgia Tech taking Gus for us would be one of the nicest things a “rival” has ever done for us.

Please God, I can’t afford another year of Gus. With all the other bs in life I just need Auburn football to be fun again. Last game it was fun was maybe against Washington.
