  1. Durkin wasn’t there. And ended up fired even though he had been reinstated and found without blame. Not sure there’s a proper word for that level tragedy (kid dying in sport). Had a kid I coached in Middle School die a couple of years later in HS after practice. I feel it. In no way was I equating “the shed” and death. What I was poorly pointing out is that Auburn folks apply harsher different filters to Auburn hires than the standards applied to others. The sometimes zany Mike Leach was nearly universally loved - but had culture accusation in his background. Auburn hires a guy (that had been vetted several places following Maryland) and folks want to revisit / Re-accuse him of the tragedy …. And oh, firsthand knowledge, it probably does haunt him a bit even though he wasn’t there. He’s now hired and I’m finished talking about. Ready for Spring.
  2. Have seen this now a couple of different places - Boom supports.
  3. Mike Leach had a “mistreated a kid” episode in his background too… The coddling required by kids (and the social media armies that hold the kids blameless) has to frustrate coaches that came of age in the OG disciplinarian coaches era.
  4. Well, except AU no longer plays them every year…
  5. Attorneys from both sides spend next season on the headsets listening to play calling.
  6. Wasn’t long ago “free to imply whatever one wanted” could end up being considered slander.
  7. It’s like a pastry filling, usually a combination of chocolate and cream.
  8. Hopefully because he’s built his chops as a highly competent DC….. and not because “gotta hire an Auburn man”
  9. Some folks seemingly just have to have someone to point a finger at…. Sometimes life happens, folks move on. Frankly, we don’t deserve to know every detail of folks lives. Even when we think we do. There’s enough “personal matter” hints lying around that folks maybe should let it go and hope that’s all it is.. quit trying folks to run over with the bus.
  10. Tougher? Dunno. Our road has always been pretty tough with LSU, Bammer and UGA in the mix…
  11. …..I’d have pretty quickly traded our QB for theirs..and maybe thrown in a few players to sweeten the deal. Dude was a gamer.
  12. I’d trade our QB1 for theirs… same with our OL and WR.
  13. Blue shirt, orange pants ✔️
  14. Hate to do this, but: Now do bama. Sometimes the Jimmies and Joes really do matter. Coaches, regardless of they’re “the goat” do make changes trying to get the pieces and gameplan right. Doesn’t always work, sometimes takes more tinkering, (not 20 hours a week). Dunno. But a lotta us are acting like we’re at practice, in staff meetings, on the coaches head sets. One thing we all have known for years - our Oline has needed 1) more bodies 2) upgrade in talent. And no was doing anything about it. There is no room for sloppy/error/indecision when it’s easy for the other guys get to you. Overcoming that other folks around you have been putting WAY more folks in the league (and that they can point to it while recruiting) is an obstacle that’s gonna take time to overcome. Gonna have to trust the coaches, they were hired for a reason…if they aren’t working out somewhere down the road they too will get their parting gifts
  15. Look at what Deion did at Colorado. Pulled bandaid off, told a lotta folks they probably needed to be elsewhere… New age out there with NIL and the portal. Gonna take some getting used to, but if kids come in basically “under contract” getting paid, some criticism is gonna be fair game if they don’t perform. Lotta folks being noisily critical of a new staff four games in…
  16. A combination of things has Thorne hearing footsteps (maybe because there are footsteps), but it’s causing him to take his eyes off the field. There’s a rush, he feels it looks down to escape, gets tackled. Optional - guys may or may not be breaking open downfield.
  17. Dog. Dawg is pretty much used completely by Uga. I’ll never refer to something I choose to favor as a dawg. My lab understands this completely.
  18. Eason chose to “go home” .. it happens. True that Mason didn’t move his family to Auburn? If so, wasn’t planning on being here long anyway and we only mostly speculate (it’s the internet) on why/when he leaves.
  19. Really? Not according to what some posted during those 5 losses…
  20. Absolutely care about Auburn Football. Just have realized I have no control over it or the 18-21 year olds making the plays (no matter what winning juju tshirt I put on or where I sit or what I drink during a game (although I have noticed some IPAs and bourbons execute better play calling than others)). ….Think of it as application of the Serenity Prayer to Auburn Football.
  21. Showing kids a path to the NFL is recruiting. That’s what they want (and the expectations of $ with it). Last staff was losing the track record of putting many guys (specifically OL) in “the league”, gets used against us, heck watch opponents games “team x continues to put … in the league”. Thankfully we’re on a bit of a trend that way with DBs. Need to fix that for everywhere else.
