  1. That timeout and substitutions made by CBP was MONEY. That turned it around. We needed to win a close game. I love Caldwell and we will miss him tremendously next year.
  2. So far, not good. A little surprised Maddie gave up so many runs, and all on homers. 2 hits for us. Sounds like we are going to repeat the last 6 years.
  3. As much pain as it appeared he was having, I would be shocked if something wasn't torn. Hate it for him.
  4. Doesn't look like they have softball tickets on sale yet.
  5. Merry Christmas to you as well, Fifty. Thanks for all your hard work. Oh yeah. Shocking news. Ole Gus lost another bowl game.
  6. That throw was gosh awful. He really needs to think about changing positions. He would be a really good receiver.
  7. A batter's entire foot had to be out of the box and if there was no box left late in the game, most umps wouldn't call it. Love the picture. Those were definitely good times.
  8. Well, this is good news. She definitely has the background we need. I'm confused. We list 3 assistant coaches on our website. Who is the volunteer? Carosone? Is someone leaving?
  9. Very good point. Thanks Slot. So crow hopping is still illegal, but leaping is not. To me, the main thing is to establish a standard that's evenly applied. There was a FSU pitcher getting called in the WCWS because the foot she had on the rubber was her back foot and she was coming off the rubber as she was winding up. I had never noticed anyone pitching like that, but I guess it's a pregression since the rule was changed some years back allowing 1 foot off the rubber prior to delivering the pitch. Coaches are always looking for ways to bend the rules. The athletes are getting bigger and stronger and tall pitchers like Fouts and Penta are already closer to the plate when they release the pitch. This will make tougher for batters.
  10. As a dad who raised 2 daughters that played the game, and then umpired girls softball for 8 years afterward, I can tell you. Get over it. I can't tell you how many coaches who had previously coached their sons tell me that the cheering and loud noise drove them crazy. My reply was "Coach, get used to it or get home". It's that way from the time they are 8 until they quit playing the game. It's softball. I also think it's time for a change. The grad transfers don't bother me. Maybe they want to go to grad school and Auburn doesn't have that program. Who knows? This was supposed to be his best team and as has been mentioned before, our weak preseason and the weak conference schedule showed up at the end of the season and we made very small improvement over last year. This year we made it to the regional championship game and pushed Clemson to an IF game, instead of dropping 2 in a row like last year. Overall, our hitting continues to struggle against good pitching and that hasn't changed in 6 years.
  11. I think Shelby looked like the old Shelby for the first time in 2 years. Her pitches were crisp with some zip and she had them guessing until she hit the rough spot in the 6th. She still got out of it without giving up a run. Again, that reminded me of the old Shelby. Hopefully, this will spring her into next season and she'll be able to again be a significant factor on this team. We need her.
  12. I missed the first part of the game last night. Does anyone know why Lowe was pulled? BTW, Widra did an outstanding job.
  13. Will never forgive him for pitching to Baily Hemphill a few years ago. She had a run scoring double and a homerun. I think she had all of their RBI's in a Friday night game that bammer won in our house. A couple of walks would have been just fine.
  14. Bottom of the 7th. Runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out. Ball is hit to SS. She throws to 2nd to get the out. 2nd baseman tried to turn 2, but the throw was high to 1st. Runner scores. We walk it off. 2 - 1. Not only can we not hit, but we look terrible trying to bunt. We just can't execute on offense. Mizzou helped us out.
  15. Ridiculous that someone on the Auburn staff didn't follow up and make sure the reinsertion was recorded. That starts with Dean.
  16. Penta tying a program high with 17 K's throws a complete game shutout. Final 4-0.
  17. So apparently Lizenby pinch hit for Godwin in the bottom of the 5th. Godwin was reinserted to play defense in the top of the 6th, but it wasn't reported to the umpire. The first batter struck out, but Mizzou appealed the substitutuion violation and the out was wiped out and the batter returned with a 1-2 count. Penta went 3-2 before she struck the batter for the second time. Ridiculous. No harm cause Penta struck out the side and has a season high 14 K's. Going to the Bot 6th.
  18. Lizenby with a 2 run pinch hit blast in the bottom of the 5th. 4-0 going to the 6th. Penta has 11 K's and given up 1 hit.
  19. Watching the game Sunday, the analyst said we were undisciplined at the plate. Pointed out we were swinging as soon as the pitcher released the ball and not letting it get deeper. Seems like this hasn't changed in all the years Dean has been here. His friendship with Lenti may cost him his job. I had high hopes, but his reputation as a pitching coach hasn't materialized here and his game decisions have been very puzzling. I don't think Cohen will be very patient with him.
  20. Sounds close to what I heard. I assume as well those times are Eastern. First game is on ESPN and the second one is on ESPN+. It was good to see the bats come out. Bri's shot was an absolute Bomb to CF well up in the trees past the bleachers. Garcia's made it just inside the foul pole in left. Lisenby had a nice double to drive in 2. Maddie made it interesting in the bottom of the 7th and Packer mad a great play. CMD rolled the dice with the pitching and lucked out tonight. If we are going to pitch by committee, Rolfe and Tresvick are going to have to contribute. Speaking of Tresvick, is she hurt? It may be a long year.
  21. We should have killed Bowling Green, instead we were going through the motions. 6 hits in a 5 inning run-rule game. We scored 2 runs on bases loaded walks and 1 on a hit batter with the bases loaded. Most of the 8 runs were given to us by a poor team. I don't have a warm fuzzy feeling going into conference play. Other than Maddie, I'm just not confident in our pitching. I really thought we would be further along. Looks like Lowe struggles with the 2nd or 3rd time through the order and you don't know if Widra will be effective on any given day. OU waxed a good UK team, so that trip to OKC may get ugly.
  22. Agree with both of you. It gets tougher from now on. BTW, y'all see where OU run-ruled UCLA? #1 vs #2. 14-0 behind Widra's former teammate from UM and 20 hits. At the Mary Nutter Classic.
