  1. Good thing the recruits aren't in panic mode like the fans are. Still a lot of season to play, so we'll see how it all goes.
  2. I don't see him having any better chance to start over Stidham than he would to start over Francios. It's basically the same situation.
  3. I didn't really know the extent of the injury; I was at the AU game, so I didn't see the Bama game at all. Didn't even bother with highlights when I found out the score.
  4. If Francois doesn't come back from the injury well, he could very easily lose his job to a QB like Fields, I would think.
  5. Why would we wait until Fields' RS Soph year to start playing him? Even if Stidham doesn't go pro after this season, it seems more likely he WILL go pro after next season, which would put Fields in line to compete for the starting job as a RS Freshman....
  6. 185 lbs at 5'7, before even getting to a college strength and conditioning program...that's pretty danged stout. I would guess that with Momma Worm's statement about muscles running in the family, he could be up to 200 lbs pretty easily by the time he sees the field at Auburn, and that's plenty of size for running between the tackles. Much as I like the comparisons to Noel Devine, I liked the one to Barry Sanders even better, because Shaun strikes me as being that kind of quick. John Madden said you could put Sanders and another guy in a phone booth and it'd be 10 minutes before the other guy could touch him; if Shivers even approaches that kind of quickness (not to mention change of direction), he can be an "every down" back in the SEC without breaking a sweat.
  7. Pretty sure a player has to complete two years at JUCO before transferring to another school. If he plays one year at a division 1 school and then transfers to JUCO, he can transfer out after his first year at that JUCO, but he will still have completed two years of college.
  8. I think we're recruiting him more as an athlete, not as a RB.
  9. But Fields is being called a generational talent, and we've already got Malik Willis in the mix. I'm not saying I don't want Bo, nor am I saying we won't get both him and Fields, but considering there's only one spot for a QB to play during the game, it would make sense if Nix wanted to go play for his dad's old OC at FSU should Fields choose Auburn.
  10. I can totally see him being like the silky smooth super agent in the movie Draft Day, handling a prospective #1 QB recruit.
  11. Oh, I can understand the rule: you don't want your star to be distracted from the season at hand, nor do you want him to be a distraction to the other players. It just seems like not playing the guy and losing to district foes would be a recipe for disaster in the community.
  12. Not playing a star big enough to be wanted by several colleges (especially Power 5 colleges) seems like a good way to lose your job as a coach...
  13. If we go 8-4 this season, I'LL be done with Gus, and I'm a huge fan of his. It was his hire as OC that got me on board with the Chizik hire to begin with...but consistent mediocrity is not something I'm willing to live with at Auburn. Quite honestly, I'm not sure I'd be okay with 9-3, even with a bowl victory pushing us to 10 wins, particularly if we lose to UGA and Bama again. This roster is too loaded with too much potential to settle for less than a top notch season.
  14. Pretty sure that was Byrum in his freshman year, but Spurrier wasn't Florida's coach at the time.
  15. I didn't realize that. Still, I'm glad we had him running the offense in 2013 and 2014.
  16. But if he had, would he have stood out enough to make the cut in the first place?
  17. You're right that he's the exception to the rule, but I don't know that he would have been better off sticking to defensive back. He obviously didn't think his prospects were very good at UGA, and I'm not sure he wouldn't have disappeared on the depth chart had he stayed there. As it is, he did enough at QB to prove to an NFL team that he was enough of an athlete to play in the League, even if it was a move back to DB.
  18. Sure glad Nick Marshall decided to play the position he wanted to and not the one college coaches said was best for him.
  19. I sincerely doubt he's really THAT fast, but if he's putting out numbers like that then he might be a legit 4.4-4.5. Of course, if he's like his uncle, I suppose low 4.3s might not be too much of a stretch...
  20. Has Vandy not offered yet? I would have expected to see them in his top 5 after his going on about academics being a priority.
  21. Tucker Frederickson, Auburn's FIRST #1 NFL draft pick.
  22. "Nix gonna float one for Sanders, Sanders...OH HE CAUGHT IT AT THE TWO, AND HE DIVED IN! TOUCHDOWN AUBURN! TOUCHDOWN AUBURN!! OH MY GOODNESS! Frank Sanders leaped up over Tommy Johnson or Antonio Langham, he caught the ball at the two, how he held it I don't know, but he dived into the end zone, and Auburn's right back at the stick of it, with a backup quarterback, trailing 14-11!" (Sorry, just had to get that out of my system.)
  23. I want him to do what is best for himself....and come to Auburn. lol
