  1. I can totally see him being like the silky smooth super agent in the movie Draft Day, handling a prospective #1 QB recruit.
  2. Oh, I can understand the rule: you don't want your star to be distracted from the season at hand, nor do you want him to be a distraction to the other players. It just seems like not playing the guy and losing to district foes would be a recipe for disaster in the community.
  3. Not playing a star big enough to be wanted by several colleges (especially Power 5 colleges) seems like a good way to lose your job as a coach...
  4. If we go 8-4 this season, I'LL be done with Gus, and I'm a huge fan of his. It was his hire as OC that got me on board with the Chizik hire to begin with...but consistent mediocrity is not something I'm willing to live with at Auburn. Quite honestly, I'm not sure I'd be okay with 9-3, even with a bowl victory pushing us to 10 wins, particularly if we lose to UGA and Bama again. This roster is too loaded with too much potential to settle for less than a top notch season.
  5. Pretty sure that was Byrum in his freshman year, but Spurrier wasn't Florida's coach at the time.
  6. I didn't realize that. Still, I'm glad we had him running the offense in 2013 and 2014.
  7. But if he had, would he have stood out enough to make the cut in the first place?
  8. You're right that he's the exception to the rule, but I don't know that he would have been better off sticking to defensive back. He obviously didn't think his prospects were very good at UGA, and I'm not sure he wouldn't have disappeared on the depth chart had he stayed there. As it is, he did enough at QB to prove to an NFL team that he was enough of an athlete to play in the League, even if it was a move back to DB.
  9. Sure glad Nick Marshall decided to play the position he wanted to and not the one college coaches said was best for him.
  10. I sincerely doubt he's really THAT fast, but if he's putting out numbers like that then he might be a legit 4.4-4.5. Of course, if he's like his uncle, I suppose low 4.3s might not be too much of a stretch...
  11. Has Vandy not offered yet? I would have expected to see them in his top 5 after his going on about academics being a priority.
  12. Tucker Frederickson, Auburn's FIRST #1 NFL draft pick.
  13. "Nix gonna float one for Sanders, Sanders...OH HE CAUGHT IT AT THE TWO, AND HE DIVED IN! TOUCHDOWN AUBURN! TOUCHDOWN AUBURN!! OH MY GOODNESS! Frank Sanders leaped up over Tommy Johnson or Antonio Langham, he caught the ball at the two, how he held it I don't know, but he dived into the end zone, and Auburn's right back at the stick of it, with a backup quarterback, trailing 14-11!" (Sorry, just had to get that out of my system.)
  14. I want him to do what is best for himself....and come to Auburn. lol
  15. Whatever the "official" position, I'd still love to have a big bodied possession receiver to match the big play wideouts we have on the team.
  16. I'm loving the amount of talent we have coming back at the offensive skill positions...gotta make Stidham pretty giddy in his own right, too!
  17. I'm thinking he'd look something like LaMichael James did on a couple of screens against us in the BCS National Championship Game back in 2011...just a little crease and he's got 10-15 yards in a snap.
  18. The only thing I can think of is to put all their effort into deflection, rather than trying to stop/slow down the pass rusher. That way, the QB at least has a chance to step up or to the side and keep his eyes down field...but I feel sure the coaches teach that anyway, if it is effective.
  19. If I had to guess, I'd say Stidham will wear #3 if he wants it, and they'll convince NCM to switch to a normal wide receiver number the same way Kyle Davis switched from #11 to #86 during the season.
  20. Here's hoping we actually utilize him properly, particularly in the red zone. I miss having a receiving threat at tight end.
  21. 2012 is rated #3? Wow, that's surprising...
  22. With the presence of Stidham added to the mix, I'm not sure we've had this much talent at the QB position since 1993, when Patrick Nix was Stan White's backup and Dameyune Craig was redshirting. If Sean, Stidham, and Barrett perform up to the level of those three guys, we'll be championship contenders for years to come!
  23. The thing that has always stood out to me about Sean is that he seems to play above the level he's expected to play at. Remember, he won the MVP of the Elite 11 camp (which included Deshaun Watson, Kyle Allen, and Brad Kaaya) in high school, so rising to the challenge is nothing new to him. I'm not saying he'll beat out Stidham, I'm just saying I don't expect him to go quietly into the good night.
