  1. So do I. People have talked at length about the O-line weaknesses, but I don't think the D-line will be as good as many are assuming either. Way too many recruits from the past few years who didn't pan out, and a lot of new/inexperienced ones that will have to play significant snaps. This is a serious rebuild and I think 6-6 is realistic. I will be encouraged if Harsin can get us to 7-5 and thrilled if it's any better than that. Obviously, the expectations will go up after he has some time to get his players and system in place.
  2. All I was saying, back to the original thread topic, is that I'm not really blaming the few young, healthy football team members who have been hesitant to get the vaccine to this point. MIllions and millions of young people have also had COVID and had no serious, lingering side effect. 97-98% of the deaths have been in people over 45, which is why that crowd needs to get fully vaxxed quickly. This issue doesn't have to be so binary when we know different age groups are affected differently. Yes, Delta is different and is concerning. People should watch the developments and take new data into account. Is this "misinformation" from the CDC below? One thing they didn't note is that the 163M full doses administered so far are heavily skewed toward the older demographic. Which suggests there could be an (admittedly small) anomaly cropping up with reactions among the under 30 crowd, even if it is still rare. If you are a young athlete, it isn't crazy to wonder about this. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/safety/adverse-events.html Myocarditis and pericarditis after COVID-19 vaccination are rare. As of July 19, 2021, VAERS has received 1,148 reports of myocarditis or pericarditis among people ages 30 and younger who received COVID-19 vaccine. Most cases have been reported after mRNA COVID-19 vaccination (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna), particularly in male adolescents and young adults. Through follow-up, including medical record reviews, CDC and FDA have confirmed 674 reports of myocarditis or pericarditis. CDC and its partners are investigating these reports to assess whether there is a relationship to COVID-19 vaccination. Learn more about COVID-19 vaccines and myocarditis.
  3. Fair enough, but I'm not sure you can say with certainty right now that it's safer for an 18-year-old football player to get the shot, compared to their risk of the virus itself. We absolutely do need to get everyone who is over 50 vaccinated. I'm guessing some portion of the unvaccinated players have already had the virus and built some immunity also, so the 60% number may not be that big of a deal after all.
  4. I know a healthy 32-year old who very nearly died from the shot. Another 60+ woman who had a bad enough reaction to the first shot that even her doctor told her not to go back and get the second dose. So that's two people - and I certainly don't know a million folks, so it's not 1 in a million like we've been told. Before that, I was leaning toward getting the shot. I'm not really against it, but there are some valid reasons for people (especially under 50) to hesitate. Obviously everyone over 50 should get it because there is really no question the risk of the virus outweighs any risk in the vaccine. Your mutation point is a good one and would be the reason I may still get the shot. But people need to stop declaring the vaccine is absolutely safe and no one should question or hesitate getting it. If I can rattle off two firsthand examples from the last two months, I do wonder how many more are out there.
  5. Sorry to be vague but he got mad about something and tried to cause some trouble for AU. It's been a while so hopefully it all blew over. Anyway, we could use his talent but suffice it to say he's not someone we should be fondly remembering and pining away for.
  6. Not if you knew what he tried to do on his way out...
  7. In that case I guess I've been 6'7 all these years and I just didn't know it. Dang
  8. I only watched a few minutes but quickly noticed that every highlight reel for every player featured Auburn... for the wrong reasons.
  9. Might have been six if you count jet sweep left and jet sweep right as two different plays.
  10. Mr. Wendell! I hope his development is not... arrested
  11. I hear you and I really want this to be true, but... man he needs to be better. One of the last games of the season he was 0-4 with one missed dunk, two missed layups and one jumper that missed everything. Also fumbled some decent feeds. He would have to rebound like mad and block a lot more shots to make up for that sort of offense. It's like playing 4 on 5.
  12. By my count we are at 10 right now if Thor returns; should have room for 3 more.
  13. Agreed - Heck he is still being stalked/punished for turning in IL like 30 years ago. I honestly believe that's where his troubles started - I think he must have pissed off some powerful people and they've managed to undermine him or at least create this lasting narrative that Bruce is a dirty coach. I felt like his punishment (and 3-yr ban) at Tenn was way too severe relative to what he actually did there - which is why I think it was almost payback in a way for the IL thing years before. Plenty of coaches do far worse things and just get a slap on the wrist. It's bizarre.
  14. I had just said the same thing recently in the other Powell thread - you always know there is another kick to the nads just around the bend. I knew we had too perfect of a starting lineup projected for the fall.
  15. Do you think there is a chance bball expands rosters for a year or two, the way football likely will have to? If they are giving mulligans on eligibility then there has to be some allowance for scholarship number flexibility.
  16. Speaking of Diame and missed dunks: I was in the second row at Stegeman for the game in 01, sitting right behind the UGA football team (or at least the whole offensive line). They were all jawing at me for wearing AU stuff in the UGA student section. Then Diame went up for a dunk and... thud. Just doinked it off the rim, and then fell on his butt in the lane. And they all just turned around and pointed at me and laughed their butts off. And AU lost. #thanksDiame
  17. Bruce likes to force the opposing manager to burn through his bullpen arms
  18. Wade Christopher could play all of those positions AT THE SAME TIME
  19. I've been hearing this "holding back for later" explanation of AU's conservative play calling for 40 years... It has never proven to be correct yet. Maybe this is finally the week?
  20. Hopefully someone pointed out that Crean didn't really seem to get the most out of Cody Zeller at Indiana. He put up good stats but they underachieved both years Zeller (and Oladipo) was there and choked in big games.
