  1. If you just look at this as another guy to occupy the scholarship spot that Stretch was taking up, it feels like a win. Basically a third string 4-5 who might be able to contribute a couple of decent minutes in a dire foul/injury situation, which we didn't have last year. Good transfers aren't lining up to sit behind established starters so it's likely the best available option to add depth.
  2. Then Vandy will be the 2025 national champs. Go ahead and place your bets now. Also Cal will definitely be Pac 12 champs this year.
  3. Is this just a lateral move? I don't get it.
  4. Look at it this way: It's the only way for us to finally win a few recruiting battles against Kirby Smart. I agree it's not the ideal design for college athletics, but I'm tired of losing to UGA. At some point they need to just approve a salary or contract structure and stop pretending these are amateurs. Until then though, we can get on board or just become Vanderbilt.
  5. I'm good with that since Lior contributes some quality depth at the 2 or 3 spots when needed. It's harder to justify keeping Stretch on scholarship as just a culture guy, when you know there is absolutely no scenario where he could help you win a game even if a dire situation arose with injuries and foul trouble. If he's already had time to complete his degree, then they have done right by him and I'd invite him to stay with the team as a walk-on. But as others have said, it might not be necessary/helpful if there isn't NIL $ to bring in someone else good to fill his spot.
  6. I'm surprised there hasn't been any word on Stretch - he didn't even play in blowouts this year. Basically just a practice squad guy. Maybe he's still looking for a landing spot? If he really wants to stay he needs to become a walk-on so we can use the scholarship.
  7. I'll admit I thought it was a decent hire too. If he took UTEP to the tournament, surely he could get AU there. Right?
  8. The good news is, they have gotten a ton of wide open looks from 3
  9. There's number 187 - Bruce takes over sole possession of second place with the win over Iowa.
  10. AU has a bunch of guys who are really streaky shooters. If Williams, Flanigan and Johnson are on target, AU wins (not just this game, but most). But there are plenty of games where two or all three of those guys are stone cold. Makes them tough to predict.
  11. I understand what Dylan is and I also wish he could shoot - but you have to be realistic. Austin Wiley - a former 5-star recruit - only averaged 7 points off the bench in the final four season. So you are asking for someone of that caliber to transfer in and sit behind Johni. There's no chance of that happening next year - and this is really the lone position where we have at least a serviceable backup right now.
  12. He averaged 4 points in 14 minutes, and also 4 rebounds and a block or two. You can't ask much more than that from a backup. Another center would be a luxury but we have much bigger problems 1-4 right now without processing a known commodity giving you productive minutes.
  13. Maybe even worse than that: He had one rebound in 30 minutes, at the 4 position. I love Jaylin and still hope he comes back, but we can't survive these type of games where he disappears.
  14. Dylan played hurt and got us 7 points in 14 minutes. He's not the answer going forward on offense but I think he's a fine backup 5. We have about 7-8 other spots on the depth chart that I'm more concerned about honestly.
  15. I don't know about the next two, but we are 100% taking down Tennessee on 3/4. So he will tie it then and get another win in the SEC tourney to pass Ellis. Calling it now...
  16. I believe we have to forfeit two total scholarships over the next 4 years. Seems like they decided to make this one of the years, so we were full unless Pearl wanted to process Stretch.
  17. I think we needed to stay at 12 regardless due to the NCAA sanctions, so that may have been a factor in the background. I assume it's why we haven't given Berman the last scholarship (at least as far as I know).
  18. I'm sure we'll play both of them every year, while UGA will play Vandy and Kentucky twice per season. Seriously though, even Sankey pointed out that UGA hasn't been to College Station since aTm joined 12 years ago. So hopefully one division will fix some of the lopsided conference schedules.
  19. His scoring has finally come back- but his passing is almost impossibly bad. And one step-out-of-bounds per game, but tonight he had two.
  20. Probably a moving target, but does anyone know which OLs from last season are expected to return? Wright, Johnson, Smith, Langlo and Harris? Is Zierer gone? Thanks -
  21. "And it's warm, I'm from Indiana, I don't like the cold. I've been in the cold my whole life so I'm trying to get away from the cold." I hear you big guy - this is the precise reason my wife moved to the Atlanta area from Indiana 20 years ago. She's the best transfer portal pickup ever. Although she keeps making me renegotiate her NIL deal...
