I think Freeze is a real possibility. I guess it depends a lot on the AD position and how that evolves

I would not be excited about Freeze but I could hold my nose and put up with it if a new AD determined that he was the guy to jump start the program. I would also brace myself for the immediate media flogging and the meltdown/flameout within 5 years or so. He just seems too Jimmy Swaggart/Jim Bakker-like for me to get fully behind

This. I am good with forgiveness, give a guy a second chance, etc. He has done despicable things and sullied every place he’s been, at least starting with Florida. I would love a winning program but not at the cost of having UM running the show

MY MAN!!!!! I knew that you would show with a coach firing and search starting. The board is a glorious place to be in those times! But, please- and I say this respectfully as your long lost brother- DONT COME IN HOT WITH A PLEA FOR URBAN MEYER!!!! He is such a disgusting human I just couldn’t take it; not just a one off riding with his mistress on a Harley but serial instances of behavior that just can’t let me accept him at Auburn.

College football is a sleazy business and Auburn is right there with everyone else no matter what we like to think and say sometimes. Having said that Meyer and Petrino are both such awful people I really don’t want either of those guys near Auburn as HC

This so much. I just want Auburn to have sustained success. I want other teams to dread playing us and to be a threat to win every game we play, knowing that we are still going to lose some. I want to be relevant every year at a national level. We haven’t had that for at least 15 years even though we have had some intoxicating seasons in that time. I don’t care if it’s the guy I want or the guy I think is totally wrong, I just want *that* guy. Ready to be done with these p*****g contests about this or that HC and their failings. I also understand this may not happen in my lifetime lol

Proving again that there is no such thing as a “home run hire” honestly. Finding the best cultural fit of a guy that wants to be at Auburn and do everything necessary to make Auburn successful (recruit, schmooze the PTBs, etc.). I know that guy is out there, we just have to identify him and make it happen

Multiple mentions of him elsewhere. He would be a great hire I think. Seems built more for the college game. Sometimes once those guys get a taste of the pros without the hassle of recruiting though…

I can’t argue with this for the most part. I do think Gus was really fortunate to have a transcendent player at QB when he was our OC (without Cam I think we lose at least 2-3 games that year) and was savvy enough to use a fairly gimmicky offense that the rules allowed for and was on the receiving end of incredible luck in a couple of games in 2013- he was never built for long haul success in the SEC. Now, I just hope and pray that we do the most un-Auburn thing ever and make a smart, well thought out hire of a really good coach…hey, miracles happen….

Like the vast majority of Gus’ tenure that’s all smoke and mirrors- inflated numbers against weak teams, terrible against teams with a pulse. I’m all for blasting Harsin as a failure and a fraud at this point but let’s do it on his own (lack of) merits instead of trying to continue to make Gus into more than the mediocre coach that he was here at Auburn
