  1. Hey guys, please note that Aubiefifty lists herself as a female. No DEI or woke here. Let's give her credit for listing her sex. Too many posts, including one of my own, that ignored her listing.
  2. Calapari is likely a very good hire for Arkansas. Prior to moving to UK he took Memphis to a Finals game against Kansas. If Memphis had been successful with a strategic foul at the end of the game, they would have won the championship that year. So he will know the talent-rich Memphis landscape and should be successful recruiting there. He also likely will have fewer players who are one-and done at Arkansas and that should help him build some team chemistry and leadership, which was missing at UK. He also will have a large NIL budget to recruit and hang on to players. I'll be surprised if Calapari doesn't do well at Arkansas.
  3. It is a bit disheartening to see that we have Miss State's former AD.
  4. Great question. They play the same 4 quarters now in lacrosse, which used to be halves. The NCAA must believe women sports need more rest now than in the past with all the weak guys currently playing women's sports.
  5. I'm not so sure. UA is a difficult match up for UConn because of their 3-point shooting, which largely neutralizes their shot-blocking big man. If UA is on point, then the first team to 110 may be the victor.
  6. The athletic Grand Canyon team reminded me of the AU team in some respects, namely, chaotic, careless with the ball, and prone to turnovers and very poor shot selection. This is the the same reckless play that kept Yale in the game with us and ultimately allowed them to come back and beat us.
  7. Shead did foul out in OT. In fact, 4 of 5 UH starters fouled out before the game ended and UH still hung on to win. Terrific game by both teams.
  8. Well look on the bright side. We only lost to Yale by 2. UConn would likely have embarrassed us by 20+ if we played the way we did yesterday and SDSU would have beaten us too. After Yale began doubling Broome, limiting him with the ball in the second half, our offense was offensively disappointing. Just too much AU carelessness with the ball. In the end Yale's poise and discipline won out, with the hot shooting from Poulakidas carrying the day. Best wishes to Broome, Jaylin and the other departing players. I'll miss seeing you all in AU uniforms.
  9. I feel sorry for the AU fans who made the trip out to Spokane. They deserved better. Much better!
  10. I get your point, but 1 winner out of 4 games yesterday by SEC teams is a very poor showing, especially when all the SEC losers were higher seeds. Very disappointing.
  11. Spartans hitting most of whatever they throw up. Not the case for Miss St. . Hubbard and rest of team are cold. Miss St. going late into the clock on most possessions and then taking difficult shots. Spartans look better overall.
  12. So, if it is AU vs UAB, then a lot of eyes and interest primarily in the state of Alabama, but if SDSU vs AU, then national interest and higher potential ratings? So how does the latter translate in terms of a likely game time for us in Round 2? A prime time Sunday evening game?
  13. If we advance to play SDSU, then Chad Baker-Mazara's knowledge of the Aztec team and coaching strategies (from 2021-2022) may be helpful in preparing for them. CBM received that season the Mountain West's "6th Man" award while playing for SDSU. Hopefully we have the opportunity to benefit from his insights if we and SDSU both advance to Round 2.
  14. Kevin Sweeney, a Sports Illustrated writer, is very high on Auburn and is predicting that we will advance through to the Finals and lose to Purdue. I like that prediction except the end game.
  15. Any best guess or historical precedent for the likely game time on Sunday if we move on to play in the second round? All I'm finding is that Round 2 game times will be set sometime on Friday night. I anticipate we would play the first game on Sunday maybe at 1 or 2 pm Pacific Time. This sound about right?
  16. How are you feeling? Hopefully improving everyday.
  17. So I should feel better about the loss to UTk or UK this season than the loss to App St? I don't.
  18. Good to know the Coaches Poll and AP appreciates us more than the Selection Committee. We now just need to live up to our ranking and advance.
  19. A loss is a loss no matter whether they are a tournament team or not. I guess we will have to agree to disagree here.
  20. But they lost. Should we have played more top teams and lost to raise our seed? That is illogical!
  21. It would not have been too hard to place Bama in the East bracket rather than AU since that is where Bama was seeded by overall ranking. There is no doubt that UA was given VERY favorable seeding for whatever reason and we were not.
  22. I doubt that the Committee's personal bias is removed when it comes to regional placement. I've questioned elsewhere (as have others on this site) why Bama as the 16th overall seed (weakest of the 4th line seeds) is not in the bracket with top seed UCONN (rather than us). UCONN wonders too. Indeed, UA got placed in the bracket with UNC, the 4th overall seed and weakest of the top line seeds. Looks fishy to me.
  23. So then a computer algorithm should be readily able to pick the selection field and make up the brackets (without the potential for committee member bias), with consideration of all games played including end-of-season league tournaments. The latter apparently now contribute little or not at all to placement unless you are a bubble team and beat a Quad 1 team. All the algorithm needs to know are the specific weights assigned to the selection criteria. The algorithm also would likely be better at calculating distance for each team to placement site than the current committee members. A smart high school kid could probably program such an algorithm throughout the season and update the metrics each week throughout the season.
