  1. You got me there. Lane could be great at Auburn. I think he's a better fit at Ole Miss, but that's just me. I also think he's someone who gets bored easily, and I wonder how long he would stay at Auburn, in college football, or in coaching in general. He's just an odd bird. I could be reading him wrong. He could be the kind of person who would remain in a job for 5+ years, I don't know. Not saying that should disqualify him, but I think it's a consideration if choosing between him and some of the other names mentioned. If he's the best coach we can get, then Auburn should hire him.
  2. No doubt he's a risk, but there are risks associated with every name that's been mentioned, with Kiffin being the least among them, arguably. Years two and three at Oregon would be a better sample size for proof of concept as a head coach, but he keeps knocking every pitch that's thrown at him out of the ball park. He is an elite defensive coach, an elite recruiter, and he's well on his way to proving he is an elite head coach. If not now, he will be leading a big time SEC program in the near future.
  3. I’d take Lanning over anyone but Prime.
  4. Me too. If this game is at home, I think we have a very legitimate shot to win. Still a chance, but I have a hard time seeing us winning on the road the same week we fire Harsin.
  5. Honestly I’m very excited about Alston, especially if we are talking about Lane’s offense.
  6. I just can’t get over his humility and gratitude for where he is in life. For someone who has achieved as much as he has to still be as grounded as he is, and as appreciative as he is, is just awesome. I am so excited for him and his family and for this opportunity for him to lead. I hope very dearly that he remains at Auburn for a long, long time.
  7. Such a humble guy. We could all learn a thing or two from Caddy.
  8. People have already made up their minds about him, but I appreciate you. He would be fantastic at Auburn, and this is coming from me, an Ole Miss grad.
  9. I wish Dan Lanning were getting more traction. Big buyout, I know, but I think he would be the best option on the board.
  10. It’s a zoo, but I do enjoy reading pink/jhead/Keith’s posts. Some great football analysis/recruiting info in there. Other than that…not so much.
  11. probably better to get out now. That renewal increase is real.
  12. It’s a weird power trip and half the time it ends up in a less efficiently written, more ambiguously titled thread, but hey, what other people do in the confines of their basement is none of my business.
  13. I’m just here for the thread name battle. It’s the strangest thing about this site.
  14. Right, and I’m not defending Harsin because I think there’s a lot more to the LK situation, but this seems typical? Coaches determine they need a kid on the “active “ roster so to speak, and player comes in and says I don’t want to play anymore, will you redshirt me? Again, there is a lot more to the LK situation where I agree he was treated poorly, but speaking strictly about redshirting, and how those decisions are typically made, Harsin’s reaction doesn’t strike me as unusual. Imagine Robby got hurt in practice this week, and Holden was next man up, but told Harsin he’s finished playing for him and wants to redshirt? Head coach is just supposed to go along? Anyway, I’m sure people will misread this post and conclude I’m defending Harsin. I’m not. I’m as ready for this nightmare to be over with as anyone else.
  15. How would this situation be handled otherwise? Genuine question. Is it typically a player’s decision to take a redshirt? Independent of the coaching staff?
  16. All the more reason to pull the trigger now.
  17. SIAP Bo Jackson on Prime https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaafb/bo-jackson-addresses-rumors-deion-sanders-may-coach-at-auburn/vi-AA13mSSk?cvid=d1f5b904c8c24058bbe0b8298b0415d0&category=foryou
  18. Yeah I mean who ever makes these has more artistic talent in their left pinky than I do in my whole body, but the stylistic choices have been…interesting.
  19. Trying to bite my tongue because I know it’s probably a student who has been designing all of these.
  20. In fairness, Harsin complained multiple times about receivers not knowing their assignments prior to firing Corn. I assumed Harsin MUST have had some legitimate reason for firing him, but I’m happy to hold this L. Curious to hear the real story, because I’ve heard some wild rumors about what the reasons might have been.
