Yes, I and many other posters on this forum know beyond a reasonable doubt that another 2012 is not around the corner.  If you can't see the difference between Chizik and Harsin just from Harsin's pressers then I don't know what to tell you.

The only way another 2012 happens is if Harsin gets fired prematurely and the PTB force the AD into hiring a lame duck SEC re-tread ala Mike Bobo this year.

Dude, it's Viper. Just scroll past his posts, I've made the recent mistake of engaging with him and I can say that it's not worth it. I can only assume he's still here because he hasn't blatantly violated some rule.

I'll give him a little credit though, he's a masterful troll.

Sadly, that's enough for an alarmingly significant portion of this fan base to make up their minds on a dude.

Thread started by a wanna-be troll and followed up with an account that joined within the month. There seems to be a trend with the recent newcomers...anti-Harsin. Don't read too much into the narrative they want to start

This dumb kid will be transferring in a year.

I fail at this often but try being a celebrator vs a hater. That "dumb kid" is probably getting a nice NIL, an opportunity to be coached by one of the greatest DBs in history, AND bringing needed attention to HBCUs.

We're ranked 13th nationally in recruiting with over a dozen spots still to fill. Something many here didn't think we'd come close to achieving.

I think the Austin Davis hire is awesome. Could really be our Joe Brady.

Zac Etheridge has been a stud on the trail

    Truth bombs

  5. At the time, I thought Bobo was a solid but not spectacular hire. The man knew/knows the SEC, had some success, and could help the "outsiders" find their way in the conference. I didn't expect him to completely flame-out/screw the pooch in some of the late season play calls though.

Not saying they didn't but curious how you know that to be truth. It just doesn't make sense to me they would demand something like that when both know better and since Bo was almost 100% the starter for next season barring some new development during Spring training,

Dude, you've been around long enough that golf doesn't make pronouncements like that without being grounded in fact.

The way the team performed, the way all of our various support staff performed from the recruiting support staff to the facilities folks to everyone, the way the fans in the stadium performed... JHS looked as sexy as ever and is 100% something a LOT of kids would want to be a part of.

We have a competent, robust passing offense. We attack the entire field. Pass catchers run all the routes. We use the tight ends. The schemes are there. And so is the opportunity to get on the field early and take advantage.

Character is just as important to this coach as it was to the last one. Intelligence might be valued even more. No major off-field issues so far. Another continuation of something the last coach did very well.

We are going to continue to put defensive backs in the league. They won't all be as good as McCreary but as long as Mason is here, we will recruit and develop those positions at a high level.

Zakoby McClain completed an all timer of a career. Too much to say he was the first Josh Bynes since Josh Bynes?

Our program is operating in a more professional manner at every level. I *believe* this more than I am able to actually articulate it. There are tons of little snippets from the last year to support it but I can't piece them all together here. But you definitely touched on it with the post about the Davis announcement and how the social media team presented it.

Also a belief more than something I can provide supporting documents for, but I believe that our head coach is focused on his team and getting them to execute his vision and their jobs to the best of their ability on every play. That said, I think his vision is agile and adaptable to the situation at hand. I am choosing not to present this as a comparison with other coaches.

Further to the above, and something that I think anyone *can* see with the naked eye just watching our games, I believe that Harsin trusts his players to make plays. I will again choose not to present this as a comparison.

You presented this far better than I could. I agree with all of it.

    WDE!

Even with a new QB and presumably shaky OL, we're gonna see whether this new culture is working real quick next fall. I'm hopeful.

Next season will probably be pretty bumpy as well. What is happening isn't just a 1-1.5 year thing.

Have you guys watched BN the past couple of years? The kid was the very definition of Jekyll/Hyde. To be honest, I never expected TJ to come in and win it because IMO, he was a less mobile Nix. I loved the kid for how hard he played but let's not kid ourselves by thinking that he anything beyond an average QB (or even slightly below average).

Do you have the slightest bit of verification for this? I've seen this rumor floated before and it sounds like nothing more than sour grapes. Nix would have won the AU job next year, no matter who came in.

Based on what? His sub-60% completion %?

    The sub 7 yards/attempt?

The kid played hard, sure. Superstar guaranteed the QB1 spot? Absolutely not.

People who know, know, and people that don't know, wonder why the people that know are so high on Harsin.

Is Harsin "The Guy"? It's too early to say. However, all signs are pointing towards likely/probable if AU people give him enough time, space, and money to operate. We're probably in for a bit of a rough go next season and AL.com will be in full throat feeding the loudmouthed Negabarners.

Ok. Here goes. While this guy may turn out to be a great OC, what in his past indicates that he is qualified to be OC at a major P5 school. He has been an NFL QB coach for one year and an assistant QB coach for one year. Has he ever developed a game plan? Called any plays whatsoever? Adjust on the fly during a game? Yes Carroll and Wilson gave him great accolades but Russel Wilson has been a great QB a long time. To say he had any hand in Wilson’s development as a great QB would be a stretch. Someone said it earlier but this board sounds like when Lofler was hired and many said he would be a good OC because he coached Tom Brady. I feel like it is another hire that requires on the job training.

Flame away but I think many there are looking through orange and blue glasses.  And if my concerns prove unfounded I will gladly come back here next fall and say I was wrong.

Is this a slam dunk, take it to the bank kind of hire? Absolutely not.

To me, this is hire is one based on potential and a demonstration of getting an entire staff from HC on down pulling in the same direction and focused on the same vision. It also adds another POV in the coaching meetings/staff discussions. I like the hire for the message it sends and the potential for the program as a whole.

You know the Nietzsche quote about the abyss? Yeah, that's what using Twitter does to you.

For once we agree on something and that Nietzsche quote is just superb. I have a nice framed version hanging in my living room.
