  1. Ok, it's sad but Jaylin in full meltdown mode now. Just lets the missed free throw drop behind him.
  2. 4 Auburn jerseys under the basket and give up the OREB
  3. Jaylin back in one of his mental blocks this week. Hope he snaps out of it before March
  4. About three or four times tonight AU has gotten behind one or tied and just done a brain-dead three or rushed shot in transition and given the momentum back to UAT for a 3-4 point mini-run. Frustrating...
  5. I know the rivalry aspect makes this all "oh no the sky is falling...so much for the hype...blah blah!!" But this is what every college basketball team goes through. Top 10 teams on the road this year have been floundering. Yes, it sucks because it's against Alabama, but this is this team's SEC version of the App State game. Game's not out of reach, but result doesn't so much matter now as much as how they close. Adversity is a good thing. Hopefully the Saran Wrap that was on Auburn's goal that half stays on that side of the court.
  6. Yea, I feel other sports definitely get a lot more negative scrutiny when the football program's down. Too early to tell what this team's ceiling is in November, but looking like an 8-9 seed type thing again for now (which is annoying as I'd rather be a 10-11 to avoid a 1-seed in the second round). I get frustrated at some of CBP's in-game rotations, but I tell myself if his "bad years" are Auburn losing 1st or 2nd round in the NCAA tournament, I won't complain one bit. Not sure if that counts as "settling for mediocrity" as a fan or not, but in my viewpoint, I'd rather have a frustrating perennial guaranteed tournament team that has the capability every 4-5 years for a S16 and better than the desert of Auburn basketball from the 2000s-early 2010s.
  7. Ok, this is where we differ in our perspective then. I'm more cynical than you on the above. In my opinion, a 60% win percentage of an up and comer would have been a better risk/reward for the future, but neither of us had wallets involved in that decision. Although someone could easily counter me that we tried this with Harsin. Regardless, I appreciate the measured response @AUght2win.
  8. I ask this sincerely, with no snark or sarcasm intended. The concept of forgiveness can exist in Auburn fans who do not want Freeze to be coach, correct? I can forgive him for his missteps in the past (though he does not need my forgiveness, nor do I need his for mistakes in my past) and still not want him representing Auburn University, correct? Now to the part of my post that will be the most polarizing, and I'm more than willing to hear the pushback on it. The hiring of Freeze forever kills Dye's quote that "Auburn fans love Auburn. Alabama fans love Alabama football." Wins and losses on the football field matter more than the University's reputation and public image. And, the ironic thing is, there's no proof the risk of needing a handler for the leader of the football program is going to be worth the return on investment. For all our sakes, I hope he does better than his 62% win percentage the next 36 football games. If he doesn't, I hope Chris Roberts and John Cohen are sent along with him far away from the Plains.
  9. Twitter is a very bad place to take anecdotal evidence from, but the portion of the fanbase arguing over there has created an almost political environment, meaning those against Freeze for moral reasons are just "woke" liberals and those for him are misogynistic enablers. For what it's worth, I don't like him because of his character or past, AND I don't like him for his coaching career. Everyone saying "But he wins!", wins what? Beats Saban at almost Malzahn regularity, wins less games than Gus. This is a fanbase clinging to a big name because anyone other than a big name would have been seen by Monday morning quarterbacks as an assault on the "prestige" of Auburn University. Well, get ready for a new national opinion on Auburn prestige...
  10. Purely from a football perspective (as the media will make the character aspect enough of a circus to pile on Auburn), my problem is he's a 7.5-4.5 coach. You could have hired him a month ago for a few million and a discount to an Opelika Gentleman's Club. Now, hes been mentioned as one of your top-2 "homerun candidates" and youre going to have to pay him like it. This is a Cohen swing-and-a-miss at rebranding "JABA" if it's indeed true. I have some skepticism though as with hires at MSU, Cohen always kept things close to the vest.
  11. Guys, this is a well-known AU parody account on Twitter.
  12. Now, now Belle, you can be objective and say Harsin's not the right fit at Auburn without trying to make it seem Gus was the king of getting Auburn to its potential. The Venn diagram between Gus lovers/Harsin haters is basically a circle at this point. Which leads me to believe the next guy isn't going to get the benefit of any doubt either... For the record, I'm ok if he gets fired too. Not that attached to him or his decisions. But this fanbase is reveling in nostalgia about an 8-4 coach
  13. Scott back there waving for fair catch before the ball leaves the punter's foot.
  14. Have two seasons with subpar results because of subpar players and get the same grumbling and calls to be fired.
  15. O-Line is probably worst in program history, but Robby is the Summer School Valedictorian at QB. He's an excellent athlete, but even keeping in mind he's only a freshman, his route reading ability is at a Me level. Don't put Geriner in to be slaughtered in enemy territory, but he needs to be getting a series every quarter or so the rest of the year
  16. Ok, be objective people. Harsin deserves his fair share of criticism, but if 50 even half-heartedly makes a block there, Shenker rumbles for 10-15 yards
  17. Get Punt Returner 2 out there. Why the hell do you fair catch a punt at the 5
  18. Can someone give me Vegas odds on Auburn crossing midfield on an offensive drive?
  19. I'm not sure if this performance is indicative of the season as a whole or not. However, in addition to our BOT being the most dysfunctional board in the country outside of the oil tycoons in Austin, Texas, and our fanbase wanting coaching/personnel changes on a series-by-series basis, the pie-in-the-sky dreams of coaching royalty coming to Auburn will not happen. I'm slightly pessimistic to neutral on CBH, but if he isn't given the three year minimum usually given as the window for a coach to prove himself, Auburn's reputation for instability will damage potential coaching/recruiting efforts for a decade, moreso than enduring a 2022 and 2023 of 6-6 to 8-4 performances.
  20. Hard-hitting DP to 2B ends the Tigers season. Wasn't a pretty finish, but the picked 7th team in the SEC West finishes its season in Omaha.
