You make me laugh.

Understand this: He sounds like a full of crap politician. Like the kind of guy who misses big opportunities while waiting for more 'information' so he can make the perfect decision. Meanwhile, our competitors are implementing a good battle plan today and forging ahead. I think that's what's playing out. It's the reason we don't have a coach, why we may not have a new coach for a long while and why we won't like him when he's finally announced.

Hard to pin down why AU is so bad at hiring coaches. Is AU perceived by coaches as a bad gig? Incompetence on the staff's part? Stupidity? Arrogance? Fear? I now imagine the hiring team as Tommy Boy with a sale. The only difference being that, in the end, Tommy Boy overcame his incompetence.

The people responsible hiring process at AU are clowns. Frankly, I'm now expecting this hire to be even worse than the Harsin Experiment.

Why actively pursue a top tier coaching staff when we can wait until all the other schools have their coaching situations settled and then throw ridiculous money at whoever is left without a paycheck?

Sure. Why not? Before or after he accepts the Colorado offer?

He went 3-9 the last two seasons. We're probably talking to him right now.

Hiring Beamer would be the sane sort of hire any other school would make, so it's not an option. Looking forward to seeing what the clown crew has in store for us now that we've whiffed on Kiff.

Who is angry with Freeze? He's going to come in and make big money. Worked great for Malzahn and Harsin. It will work for him.

Some have a problem with Freeze's past transgressions. I don't like the guy. But what really bothers me about the Freeze pick is that he's the lowest hanging fruit. He's the least effort, easy, lazy JABA choice that will further doom Auburn to 5 more years of mediocrity and the AU PTB are perfectly fine with that. Put simply, Auburn University is not serious about its football program, which kinda works because I no longer take it seriously.

The problem is that no one wants to coach football for Auburn University, so retreads, nobodies and rehabs are the best we can do. Pretty sure any coach in the nation could contact Auburn's Gang Who Can't Shoot Straight and show interest in the job. And yet, we're seriously courting Hugh f'n Freeze.

It's literally the best we can do.

So, once again, we cannot entice a top tier football coach to Auburn University. If the hopium and copium didn't flow so freely in our little village, someone might venture to ask why that is, or maybe even do something about it. But not this time! So now it's time to get to the hard work of fantasizing how Coach Freeze will win us a natty! And, even if he can't win us a natty, we know he can at least get us a happy ending! The jokes literally write themselves...

Interesting... I'd have been shocked if we didn't go from fantasizing that we were going to land a real coach to talking up the potentialities of Coach Scratch N. Dent in less than a week.

So Kiffin is out and we're entering into the Christmas season. A perfect time for Coach Freeze to play Santa and bring in the Ho-ho-hos. Seriously, we can't honestly be considering hiring this guy. This is the best we can do? Really?

Find a good coach and let him run his own show. No diktats. No caveats. Funny (and sad) that we have yet to figure out this simple winning formula.

It's just the sort of thing we would do. Whiff on the main target, step on our sausage courting the Plan B candidate (more likely, have no Plan B), and then throw a true Auburn Man into the Tigers Den. It's so JABA we must do it.
