  1. Took a lot of time to type that original OP. Could have just linked to Animal House. Same warped logic at work.
  2. Well, it's important that he be seen to say all the right things. Praising everyone the fans love is a good tactic, as is standing with people that fans respect. Folks eat that stuff up. Maybe coulda kissed CCW, just to show how much he loves AU. Not on the lips, though....
  3. The question was probably a plant. Get it out there and address it. Better than waiting for it to come later.
  4. What other stipulations are in the Freeze contract?
  5. Credibility is over-rated. Staying true to the JABA way is what makes us AUsome.
  6. We didn't need a new AD to hire Freeze. He was the most obvious, easiest, least imaginative choice. JABA is real.
  7. So we're cool for Art Briles as OC, then. At least we'd win some games.
  8. Too early to call for Cohen's resignation? Let me know when...
  9. That's the impression, but really, it's probably a PR risk most schools don't want to take.
  10. Depends on who you talk to as to what Briles' role was in it all. But I know alums from Baylor and they lean toward the school blaming what they could on Briles to make the school look less culpable. YMMV
  11. So.... Any truth to the story that Liberty, should Freeze take the Auburn job, will replace him with Art Briles?
  12. Optimist. I'm waiting for Chip Lindsey to be announced.
  13. Nope. The guy gives off weird vibes and he never blinks.
  14. Those were just words for the camera. When it comes down to it, $$$ talks and gets what it wants or the unwashed masses will be made to pay for it. Maybe 3 years of Caddy, a horrible firing, and then hiring Freeze. 🤣 Yes, it's great to be an Auburn Tiger (if you love drama in your football program).
  15. Perhaps because at that point, his hiring didn't look inevitable? Now it does. In fact, I half believe now that hiring the guy was the one and only plan all along, all the talk of other candidates being just a pretention of an honest, active search.
  16. Seems pretty common to me. Being very successful in one area leads people to follow their hunches in areas they know nothing about. A form of confirmation bias, I think. Plus, some people just have to learn their lessons the hard way. I wonder if not getting their way on the last hire means they'll push for Ho Ho Hugh no matter what. Based on rumors, of course. I really have no idea what thoughts are banging around in the minds of the wealthy and powerful movers and shakers.
  17. Well, if the people with the power and the $$$ want Freeze, it'll probably happen. Might as well let them get it out of their systems. I certainly can't stop them, but I will have a much lower opinion of them. I'm sure they'll be torn up about that. 😄
  18. I'm not particularly impatient. Nor am I mad as hell. And I'm certainly not listening to what some media guys are telling "us". I'm merely seeing other programs getting their guys and moving forward while we have not. That's concerning because we've been through this before and it ended badly. All that other stuff is in your own head.
  19. Who is "they"? If you're referring to me, you are way off base.
  20. LOL Sure. I'd love to have the GREAT hire, but given Auburn's track record for hiring football coaches, I have absolutely no real reason to expect one.
  21. Okay. It's a fact that he spoke some words. It's up to each of us to believe those words or not. Given the words he spoke, I have a first impression of the man and I described that impression a bit in my first response to the original post. Others may take a different view. Only time will tell. That said, some decisions are time sensitive and I've seen analysis paralysis kill some great possibilities in my time. I hope we aren't already a victim of it here.
  22. Maybe that's the plan. Freeze is the hire but he won't be announced until the influencer army has softened up the hardliners.
  23. The only fact is that the guy said some words. It doesn't mean they're true or that he actually means them or that he even cares if we believe them. They are words for public consumption. One can choose to take them at face value and believe them or not. Trust me on this, I've worked a lot with ad agencies and PR people, if he didn't care about who the new hire was going to be and whether he was a good man or a good coach or foreign agent, he'd have said the exact same thing.
