  1. And they already have one in UTSA. What SEC folks may not understand is that both flagship schools are the tip of a far larger iceberg. There are numerous UT's and ATM's scattered around the state, and some of them are the size of AU and UAT, bigger than some SEC schools, in terms of enrollment. I don't know how that affects the SEC, but there are likely to be ripple effects from it. Maybe UTSA and an ATM satellite end up joining the conferences of Troy and Georgia State? I have no idea what those conference structures even look like.
  2. Baylor med school is only loosely associated with Baylor U, and it's in Houston. Their academics are pathetic. UTexas has a vastly better national reputation in that department. UTexas is also building a medical school with funding from Dell right here in the Austin MSA.
  3. P12 won't take "religious" schools, though neither Baylor nor TCU could accurately be described as being true to their missions anymore.
  4. Wait....you're Finebomb? All of a sudden, things are starting to make sense......
  5. The SWC destroyed itself - polo, ponies and probation ring a bell? SMU was the pebble keeping that boulder from rolling downhill, and when they got the DP and Arkie bolted for the SEC a short time after, the SWC was done. Texas and, to an extent, OU, wanted to go to the PAC 12 together before the B12 merger, but Baylor and TTU grad lawmakers in Austin, led by Ann Richards, put a stop to it. UT's eff u to them was the Longhorn network. ATM was invited to be an equal partner in LHN, but declined, knowing it would end the chance for them to go to the SEC later, so don't buy those sour grapes. Having said that, I just assume they both stayed out of the SEC. OTOH, it's historically worked out for the best when the SEC made the first move on expansion.
  6. This. Some of you are making extreme statements without a danged clue. I happen to be married to a medical expert. While she and I are vaccinated due to our age, she is adamant that the data in no way supports our HS age son getting the shot, vs the risks from the vaccines.
  7. That is good data, I'd be very interested to see similar breakdowns for UGA, or UF, or LSU. I don't really think bammer is a valid comparison because of their outlier status in every respect of the recruiting side. Clemson might be an interesting one as well. Not suggesting you do all of these - just one more data point from a peer would be good to see.
  8. I posted numbers on this right after Harsin was hired. He faced a significantly tougher SOS than either of the other three, especially the guy who started Boise's run, and he faced it short on numbers because of some BS probation his first three years.
  9. Wait, I thought Oxymoron was that 7* OT bammer got, then processed?
  10. The next governor of Texas will be a leading candidate for POTUS in 2028. McConaughey just might be that guy. There's one other guy who I think can give him a run in Texas who hasn't formally announced yet.
  11. Did I hear this guy left before he really got here?
  12. He's building a program, AU could use the two-fer revenue against an opponent that won't be a creampuff, but isn't UGA/LSU/UF caliber either. Good for AU recruiting in that part of FL. Lots of storylines to keep both programs in the press' eye leading up to it. I sort of cautiously like it.
  13. You're right, but you're wrong too. The right media campaign could pull it off. I just have no confidence that AU could pull off the right media campaign, hence making you right. They'd water it down too much. Something like this needs to be every bit as brazen as uat's original claim was.
  14. Not really impressed. The "relaxation" part of my grad school schedule was about 10:30-11 PM, and I got up by 5 on most exam days, 6 on a regular day. Didn't have any tutors to help me. Still had to work most of Saturday and Sunday as well. Undergrad was barely any better, especially the quarters I had to deliver pizzas at night to make ends meet.
  15. I think we can actually be over 85 due to the COVID situation. Can't recall where I saw that, maybe someone else has seen it? Could have more open spots than we realize.
  16. What was in the water in the South around that time? Within a couple hundred miles of each other, Bo Jackson, Herschel Walker, and Marcus Dupree all within a few years of each other. You could make an argument for them to be the three greatest CFB RBs ever, going by talent differential vs their peers of the era. I remember Dupree just outright taunting a very good Cornhusker D during some of his runs, in a time where you just didn't do that because they'd pay you back on the next down. They never could catch him for payback.....
  17. I'm right there with you. We have to keep up, but.......This is further separating the football team from the rest of the university. Add in the extra benefits that they're going to get now with endorsement deals. Students are already well on their way to not caring at many universities. Keeping moving the revenue sport athletes into a more and more privileged, set apart class and the separation will be complete. Yeah, sure it's being built with donations. But it's a gift that eats, and our tuition dollars will go for maintenance, keeping the lights on, updates, paying for extra staff, etc. Soon enough, the camel's back will break. Within a generation, CFB will be gone I think.
  18. In defense of Carlson, wasn't the wind very high when his two kicks went out of bounds? I'd be interested to know how other teams with new coordinators have fared this year with no Spring to put in a new/revised system. LSU is obviously a team that is struggling, they have a new OC and DC I believe.
  19. Pro Tip: Academy gets ammo shipments Mon-Wed-Fri. Line starts forming an hour before they open. They haven't really gone up on price hardly at all. Out here, they're getting enough ammo for about the first 20-30 people in line to get three boxes each.
  20. 9 Pages, golf's avatar, even an Oddball t-shirt link, and no mention of Kelly's Heroes? Eastwood, Savalas, Sutherland, Rickles, and WWII? What else do you need in a movie?
  21. 20 Combined SEC starts on the OL entering the year...... With that VERY inexperienced OL, we've played so far: The #9, #17 and #38 ranked teams in total defense The #4 and #11 teams in Pass Yards Allowed The #7, #9 and #45 ranked teams in Rush D The #4(Tied, with bammer, we are #3), #15 and #21 teams in Scoring D - less than a TD separates #1 from #21 And a Hog team that is pretty clearly on a mission to improve every week. Just sayin' that there are two teams on the field, and they mighta had jes a li'l to do with our abysmal O performances. Washington, LSU, and yes, USM, are not chopped liver. USM was #9 in total D coming into this game. Their 1 pt loss to ULM was their 1st since 1987 to ULM in a fluky game where they lost 2 picks, 2 fumbles and missed 2 FGs. Bammer is ranked in the 20's (or worse) in all but Scoring D against a cupcake schedule, for reference. (Since so many use them as a yardstick.) MSU ranks pretty high in all D categories as well, so a 3-2 rerun might not be out of the question next week. I'd take it and leave Starkville smiling from ear to ear. Stid definitely has a case of happy feet. He is moving around at times when he should be setting up and throwing. At least two of the false starts tonight looked to be on our brand new C not snapping the ball when he was supposed to. Both of those are eminently fixable. If you watched (and literally heard) USM run over Kam in the backfield when he pass blocked last night in the 2nd half, that's why you wouldn't have had the much smaller, younger Worm Shivers in on those plays. I'm not giving up on this season yet......I think no more than 2 more L's the rest of the way, if we get past MSU and their noise. The one thing that could cause more losses would be losing both starting tackles, which we might have done last night.
