  1. You know, Dr Pepper has done a documentary spot on this subject. Futbooooollllll!
  2. Here's his bio: https://eagles.1rmg.com/bios/johnson-brian/ QB Whisperer who developed D Prescott, Kyle Trask, and others, Hurts has flourished under him. Get him a good DC, or just keep Schmed, Caddy for recruiting and lets go. I like this better than Kiffen, Freeze or Deion at first glance.
  3. Hah, well that's what I get for posting stats I saw while distracted with family watching the game and discussing everything at once.
  4. Look at Jarquez's fumble again. He was gone for a TD if he holds on, or at the very least a long gainer. That's not just a 7 point reversal, that's 14.
  5. Say what you like about him, kid's a danged warrior. Left it all on the field today, and now per an article on another site has played all year with a throwing shoulder injury so bad he couldn't sleep at times. I hope we get to see what he can do healthy with quality coaching.
  6. Friend & Simmons gettin' work done coaching them up and calling plays.
  7. We were two plays - Hunter's fumble with nothing but green grass in front of him, and that ridiculous muffed punt call - from making this another IB classic and possibly even a W against a Saban team at home with everything to play for. Saban is something like 119-1 at home since 2009, only loss to Cam and AU, per the broadcast today.
  8. +100 on Friend. I kind of think Jarquez lost focus on his fumble because there was literally nothing but open field in front of him. He was gone. Then he drops the ball after brushing against his own man. I like Schmedding's calls too. He put an outmanned D in a position to win and once again held bama almost in check in the 3rd.
  9. Nebraska figured out 'roids before anyone else did. I'll never forget Rimington and Steinkuler just wrecking double teams and driving them 5-10 yards off the ball with impunity.
  10. I'll agree he might not have deserved it, but you also have to agree he did a crappy job in recruiting and coaching prior to that happening. Remind me how we were doing in recruiting and how our games after OM went, prior to the investigation? There are some things that may eventually come out about him that could change whether he deserved it or not. AU is not going to talk about them, as I'm sure his severance had a mutual non-disparagement clause.
  11. Did anyone see Barkley's interview on The Next Round? He predicts a "shocker SEC HC firing" and says he knows "for a fact" they're going after Deion. He hints that its ATM, I wonder if they already have a verbal deal in place?
  12. Nope, not quite 12, and not really quality experience. Dabo had 5 years at uat mostly under Dubose, was OUT of coaching for two years (real estate), then was hired by the other CTB at Clemson, where he put in five years before being promoted to interim. So, 10 years total under two pretty bad HC's, two years out of FB altogether. Furthermore, Swinney had no NFL experience at all in contrast to Carnell's seven years of firsthand experience with receiving NFL coaching. I don't think Caddy's ready either, but people with talent and drive can surprise you. I could list a number of people who have surprised as the young leaders of far larger enterprises than AU football. He's down my list quite a ways, but I could live with it if AU did pick him.
  13. But if Caddy goes in there and beats bamuh, I think he has a very strong shot. He may not be ready, but neither was Dabo (admittedly a weaker league). Swinney was 39 when promoted, and had only been recruiting coordinator and WR coach. Shug was 41 when hired, with only a few years as an assistant behind him. His staff was made up almost entirely of ex-AU and UGA players, which sounds a bit like the current staff with AU and other SEC alums.
  14. Serious question - how many years in which OM's QB wasn't named Manning have they been in the top 25 for much of any offensive stat (aside from TO's and other stats of futility)? I'd bet 47th is one of their better finishes on scoring D too. This with a team where he had to replace how many starters from last year? I don't love the idea of CLK at AU, but this continual cherry picking of stats without context is silly.
  15. One of the major sportswriters at the time did a great article celebrating the band's juxtaposition of exuberant emotion and "cold professionalism". Maybe the old Sports By Brooks site?
  16. Friend wasn't the coordinator before, but I get your point. He is performing well with what we have.
  17. Continues to impress with halftime adjustments (previously an unheard-of concept for AU DCs in the post-CTT era). "Over the past three games, Auburn has allowed just 89 combined yards and zero points in the third quarter."
  18. FWIW, there was some minor momentum toward hiring Dabo as AU's HC when he was still a position coach at Clemson.
  19. Were those classes portal only or portal + HS kids? OP is portal+HS+JUCO
  20. The post game interview was something. If Caddy had invoked "Wrasslin with dem angels" from CPD, that would have done it, and I might well have cried!
  21. You mean like we ran on SJSU? Where Ashford was our leading rusher?
  22. I'm not pushing him. Don't really care whose feelings it hurts. The post game interview tonight did it. I think he's AU's next HC. If he wins out, it will be a lock. It would only be completely derailed if he loses out. Bring in some experienced coordinators, keep our newfound NIL momentum, and you have a HC who gets servant leadership in his heart because that's all he's ever been. I know a thing or two about leadership at the highest levels, I'd venture far more than most on this board, and I'm here to tell you that guy can lead. Some of the greatest leaders in history have been seriously overrated for their personal genius, when in reality their real genius was surrounding themselves with people smarter than them, and letting those people do their jobs to the best of their own abilities. That takes a humble leader, or at least one who knows his place. Kiffen, Jimbo, and more than likely Deion are not that kind of person, though CDS may have grown in that direction.
  23. Their 2010 class, considered the foundation of their 2013 team, was ranked 10th by Rivals. In the Saban/Smart era, most AU fans would consider that a "losing" class. I think the real point was that they never got bammers succession of #1 classes, but did it with a generational QB and some stone cold luck.
  24. What were FSU's rankings the year they beat us in the Rose Bowl? I think they had good but not elite rankings. Ditto Oregon when we beat them.
