  1. Sitting here watching 0 and 1 for Texas make contested catch after contested catch. If we even had one guy like that for Thorne to depend on......We even had drops in our pig roast today.
  2. The TL:DR version of this is that we should group-write an article, then submit it to these guys and let the revenue (it won't be much! ) go to this site. @BigBird, @Golf, come up with an article title. Doesn't have to be about AU, just about any SEC team. @fifty, go get yourself all wound up, then just write whatever comes to mind from their title. Rest of us will group edit, should have this done by next week. It will make at least as much sense as that article did, and might even cause consternation on a rival board!
  3. No, can't say I've heard of it. I was on the Recruiting Eagle from circa '96-'98 until Terry Bowden demanded that it be shut down. He had leverage because the site owner was an AU employee IIRC. I had been out of state (and out of the South) since '91 so internet forums had become my main source of AU info. I found ITAT right after that and stayed there until the last merger, which started them on a death spiral IMO. Now I kind of split time between here and the AU board on TD. I'm not nearly as active on either as I was on ITAT, where I was a member of the pay side for over a decade.
  4. His 10,000+ posts (I'm probably not exaggerating at all on that) excoriating Hugh Nall have to be some kind of individual record. You could also set him off by questioning Batman's manhood. Or bathood.
  5. Home game for Duke, we'll never get a fair shake from the refs.
  6. The original was on ITAT, and was saved on their Classics forum for 10-15 years. It was a sad day when they merged (again) and the Classics forum went away. DeepBlue had a lot of great posts, along with MaskedTiger, AUStudent22, StatTiger (before he was famous and gettin' paid) and a few others. That was the Golden Age of AU message boards.
  7. Not much traffic on the All Things Considered Board, thought I'd post this here. CNN Link In addition to his pivotal role in saving Apollo 13 (Gary Sinise's character, if you've seen the movie, if not, what are you waiting for?), Mattingly went to the moon on Apollo 16 and commanded two space shuttle missions, one of which was the only shuttle mission up to that time to feature two alumni from the same university. I still remember the bumper sticker with Aubie riding a shuttle.
  8. What this looks like to me are the first few blocks added to a foundation.
  9. If you watch, we played contain on their QB last night to keep him in front of us, which will lead to fewer sacks. He showed it was the right strategy by hurting us badly when he broke contain a few times, one of which was when one of the pass rushers thought he could get the QB by turning inside. QB went outside for a big gainer. Our best DL is a fat run plugger too, which again cuts our sacks. Remember when one of the great bammer D's had that guy they called Mountain? His stats were not at all impressive, but he just clogged up the middle completely. No amount of Drano was going to get him out. Sacks are important for sure, but sometimes the scheme and personnel can still be sound while not putting up many sacks.
  10. OM just got a big play called back for EXACTLY the same thing one of the bammer OL did to an ATM player on one of Milroe's long completions that set up a TD. Hand on the back of the hip, except the bammer player just went ahead and pulled the guy almost down from behind.
  11. Didn't they though? It's like they started playing tackle on the OL in the 2nd half, and the refs didn't bother to notice. Aggie got bammer'd at home.
  12. 1. Their DL really is All That. 2. Overall, they might be the class of the West. Makes our loss look a bit more palatable. But in the end they're Aggie, and they still have a whole half of football to remind us of that. 😉
  13. I'm impressed with Battie too, but he gets run over by some of the bigger blitzers, as he did today early on. IDK if he's an every down RB, but he's much more versatile than expected.
  14. KD has some background to talk about thriving in a new system. When he was here, he never lived up to his physical tools. When he got to the league, he did.
  15. We had a different roster problem than UC had. They pretty much didn't have anybody. We had a core that needed to be supplemented and built around. Would CDS have recognized that, or would he have gone scorched earth the way he did at UC? Some of you are old enough to remember the media and public reaction when CTT ran off a few too many in his first year. We wound up having to find ways to put at least one of those kids on a non-football scholly, maybe more than one. The kid's mom made national headlines crying about him losing his path to an education. CTB's recruiting had been almost as bad as our last four years have been, and part of the problem was OL again. For my part, I'd be passionately defending AU's coach regardless of which was picked. CDS has had an equal number of plusses and minuses in the way he's handled media/PR out there IMO. It was impressive how he took the high road on the late hit by the CSU player on Hunter for one. He would have done well here for a year or two at least, and likely recruited better than he is at UC. My main concern with him was always health, and it is being said more often now that he will likely lose his leg sometime next year. Coaching in the SEC pressure cooker is a heavy load for a healthy man of our age, much more so for one with serious chronic health issues. I also don't think CDS will coach in college for long regardless of health. The man is living every dad's fantasy of coaching his sons to the heights at every level they've played. Why would he stop doing that when they graduate? He will move on with them.
  16. You got any proof besides your own puff and fluff? No, you don't because he played like trash yesterday against the first D with a pulse he's faced.
  17. Mods, this data and the OP's should be pinned at the top of the board
  18. I'm guessing that was someone else logged in as you on the other board crowing about CDS? Identity theft is such a pain......
  19. This. If Thorne just hits his outlet a few times in the 1st half when it was there, we have an entirely different ballgame. Might have still lost, but it would have been close at least.
  20. Shedeur is getting exposed today. He's Ashford with less speed/elusiveness and a better (not saying much) deep ball.
  21. IDK, but it's been that way since 1982 when I first started watching AU. Even if they don't have a backup QB, as soon as we hurt their starter, whoever "they" is, we're doomed. See Kerwin Bell, and more others than I can count through the years.
  22. He can't handle SEC speed. We just don't have a QB right now.
  23. I disagree. The TV replays have clearly shown open WRs, but Thorne is not used to SEC speed and he hesitates every time, then panics when he sees the rush. Ashford simply can't throw. Nothing new there.
