But they can. If these big money donors truly love AU they would be fine with that. AU was placed on academic probation with the risk of losing accreditation for giving these people too much influence. It had nothing to do with the failure to provide a quality education. It was 100% related to the sports program.

The problem is we are still discussing the PTB after going through this in the not too distant past. AU got as close as a school can get to losing its accreditation because of influences and money issues within the athletics program. I appreciate every dime donated to support the programs. It needs to be clear your donation gets you nothing more than maybe great seats and a name on a building.

There is no sense to make. The same basic group that put AU's accreditation in jeopardy 20 years ago is getting crap started all over again. You hit the nail on the head. They have all the money they want so they are only looking for power and for someone to stroke their ego.

First and foremost we are all message board junkies. Not a dang one of us actually know what all is happening. Things are never as bad as we think they are and never as amazing as we believe. The coaching hire also brought a culture shock along with it. There is probably more of a chance that the expectations placed on players are higher than they were in the past versus the culture being toxic. Change isn't instant and will take some time regardless of who is running the program. The vast majority of us cannot imagine how many kids on every team are unhappy with where they signed. Add in a coaching change and it can get worse. The portal just gave them an easy out and they are taking advantage of it. My daughter is a college athlete. Through my time as one of her coaches I have gotten to know so many girls that are now playing in college. I also know several that quit during their first semester or absolutely hate where they are. There is a difference between the coaches they meet during recruiting vs the coaches they have when they get to campus. There is a tough transition so many go through balancing school and a sport while being away from home for the first time. Look at the portal and this isn't just an AU issue. There is an average of 12.8 players transferring from each DI program (129 FBS and 125 FCS). Sports Illustrated tweeted Wednesday that a record 3,000-plus FBS and FCS players have entered the transfer portal in the past two months. This week alone, 173 players have hit the portal, according to 247 Sports.

I would not say a total rebuild but you are moving from one set of offensive and defensive philosophies to another set. It does take some rebuilding to get the players you need to run the system.

I picked up an Oklahoma Joe's Bronco barrel smoker. Fill the basket up and light one side and I have ran it 12 hours and basically not touched anything. Really impressed by temp control on a none electric. Once you figure out the air flow setting for the temp you want it basically handles the rest by itself.

I think the same things are in play here but there is also an added factor. Corral is a superstar and one of the best in the country. I heard someone talking yesterday and they mentioned his numbers when under pressure and he basically completes about 35% of his passes. I may have misheard but it was said that getting pressure on him is the way to stop their offense. Using a spy and having the line get after him will be a huge part of this game.

One play stands out to me that would not have needed up like it did with Nix in the past. On the scramble TD pass against LSU he stopped and set his feet before he threw the ball at the last possible second. Last season he would have slung it while in mid air jumping out of bounds.

Mine loved Fan Fest when they were younger. Their list of must do were Tiger Walk, Pep rally, Fan Fest, Eagle flight, Toomer's lemonade, and Little Italy pizza. Yes there are better places to eat but for kids you really can't beat it if you kids love pizza like 90% of them do.

I agree with you. I give Gus props for being a good man and running the program as cleanly as any around. We really didn't have many embarrassing moments off the field. The lack of consistency was my issue with him. I also can't understand why he got away from what got him to AU in the first place. After Marshall left he tried to continually move away from the read option and hurry up. He didn't have to have a Marshall type to run it and honestly Nix with our backs the last couple of years could have ran it well. The scheme helped hide some of our deficiencies. The game as a whole is moving toward RPO's and he could have been on the front side of this.

I don't think Sweeney comes. He is/will be the considered the greatest coach in the history of Clemson. He is only a couple of years away from being their winningest coach of all time and it will take him 13-14 less years than it did the current #1. Regardless of whether he played at uat or not why would you leave a place where you are the legend to go to another and replace the actual legend? ACC to SEC? If anything his job gets easier once Saban is gone because its one less team he has to worry about.

And I definitely do not see him pulling a Bowden or Paterno and running the program in the ground. He won't accept not being able to compete at the highest level so I don't see him allowing a string of 8-4 type seasons where they are out of contention by November. If he coached anywhere but there I would be a big fan because he truly is a good leader.

Have you not figured out yet you cannot have an opinion on Nix and the offense unless he is blamed for all issues? He always throws too hard, too soft, too far, too fast. We have a stable full of actual 4 and 5* receivers but shouldn't expect them to catch a pass that hits them in the hands. I mean they only play in the SEC which is basically one level under the NFL. Why should we expect them to actually be able to catch a football?

The vast majority of these balls hit them in the hands and should have been caught period. They didn't require any adjustment they were just dropped. If they are not diving or having to change sides at the last second there is no excuse. Just like any other part of life there is no excuse for failure on a basic fundamental portion of your job. I was also not a college athlete by choice. My choice was to not go to the couple of DII's as an invited walk-on to play baseball because at the time I had a school I was in love with and made a decision based on that. Definitely wasn't good enough for the old teams at USA. That being said just because I have been there doesn't mean I accepted excuses from my daughter or her teammates we coached for not making routine plays. Winners make routine plays or work until the point they can. Winners make difficult plays a 50/50 proposition. Winners make insane plays possible. By focusing on the routine the tougher stuff naturally followed. Not accepting the excuses above is probably a big reason why 10 out of the 12 girls we had way back in 8U-10U are college athletes now.

Ask Murray what happens if Nix takes anything off that ball. If he just flips it out there ti is a pick six and best case Shiver's catches it and gets rocked for a loss. The ball had to beat the defender there and give him room to start running.
