  1. Who cares who is favored? Which game do we have left that AU has less than a 50/50 shot at winning? Get past Arky this weekend which is happening and we have MS St, Ole Miss, T A&M and USC left. Both Mississippi schools are at home. USC is garbage. Texas A&M is still trash even though Jimbo pulled one out of his rear this weekend. That's more about uat playing terrible than A&M playing great.
  2. The most blatant thing I saw other than the non PI here was the last TD uat scored to tie A&M. They ran it quick because a receiver wasn't covered at the goal line. There wasn't a single player on the offense set long enough and the LT never quit moving. Just completely obvious. It is human to miss things but how can a 7 man crew all miss that? Just like the terrible calls in the PSU game both ways. The 3rd down punt and the safety that wasn't called or reviewed. It's time for the SEC to hire full time refs and not some guy who left his accounting office early on Friday to make the game.
  3. A lot like pre-Saban Alabama fans. One of the all time top 10 programs program but hasn't done crap for years. In reality UGA is pretty much an AU twin historically except for the fact while we were competing for a championship every decade since 1980 they do do it once every 35-40 years.
  4. When he first started in TV I could not stand him. Seemed very arrogant at the time. I agree now he is one of the best. I believe he has put a lot of work into it and it shows.
  5. You are correct. I didn't mean allowing him to run it. I meant using their legs to survive the rush.
  6. I agree about his motivation. The only positive I can see a starter getting in this situation is simply a deep breath. In a big game everyone is hyped and the chance to slow it down for a series and see the big picture may be a help in some situations.
  7. Nick Fairley. I have never seen a group of fans so freaking butt hurt over a play from 11 years ago. Granted Nick had a couple of legitimate late hits but they still complain about the one at the end of the game. Had their lineman not gotten beat and went low to block Fairley he wouldn't have fallen into Murray's knee. They could have a receiver catch a deep ball and pull a hammy and blame one of our DB's.
  8. I think it comes down to their legs. Neither have proven they can throw for over a 60% completion rate and Nix has a higher completion % compared to Finley last season. The biggest difference I see is Nix can avoid the rush long enough to throw it away. Avoiding a 10 yard loss could be huge in this game. I'd love to see Finley in on 3rd and 1 and let them think sneak as he tosses to Shivers coming in motion for a 55 yd TD though.
  9. The way UGA plays aggressive and attacks on defense AU needs to hit a big play action pass or two early or have a big gain because they lose Worm on a swing pass. Anything to make them sit and think just a second before attacking our O-Line. Anything the offense can do to make the LB's sit for even a second helps give the backs a little running room. There will be a few plays where Nix has to avoid the rush so does he do it like LSU and avoid a huge loss or get dropped 10 yards back. Simply avoiding the sack and getting an incompletion will be a win at times. Honestly I don't think the O has to do that much. They can't lose the game and have to avoid major mistakes. I believe the D can slow down UGA especially if they get some pieces back. At the same time UGA is missing some playmakers offensively still which helps AU as well. They have to score to win but not much with their D. I give us about a 30% chance based on talent alone but I also feel this one will be decided by two or three plays. Who makes the plays will decide if this is a 19-14 game for us or a 24-7 game for them.
  10. After seeing AU and Miss St in person I don't like the matchup for us. Pitching wise AU has the advantage but it's the only one I see. I really like their offensive approach and the defense looked solid. AU definitely seemed to have better newcomers so hopefully CMD is getting us back on track.
  11. We still have some. Heck without AU players the Raiders lose to Miami last week. Barber ran for a career high 111 with a TD and Carlson hit 3 fg's including the game winner. Good chance Barber gets another shot tonight with Jacobs still listed as questionable. He will be facing the worst rush defense in the league.
  12. I give them a pass on doing it three times this year if.... they beat uga and bama twice. This weekend and SEC Champ for uga and Iron Bowl and CFP for bama. If Harsin can't do that he doesn't deserve to be in the SEC.
  13. Don't take this the wrong way because I absolutely believe UGA is the best team in the SEC this year. I also believe they haven't really done that much so far. The win against Arky was by far their best of the year and it speaks for itself. We now know more about the Clemson win. USC, UAB, and Vandy were expected. I at least thought UAB would be a threat but hitting 6 pass plays over 60 yards kinda blew them out. I would take AU and the points. I can take off the orange and blue glasses long enough not to call for a straight up win. There are several things that can help keep them in the game. Bennett hasn't played in a place like JHS. His road games last year were in front of limited crowds. UGA has done a good job of hitting the big plays and I think we can limit them. AU's O-line will do a better than expected job. A lot of credit goes to Nix but LSU did not get a sack and they led the nation going into the game. Our D-line outperformed the norm as well at LSU with impact players missing. UGA will stack the box to stop the run. One missed tackle and Worm could take a swing pass 80 yards.
  14. Bo is going to start. He will have an extremely short leash but he will have the chance to show he can do it. Nix and Finley are basically the same QB and both need a great game by their standards to even hit a 60% completions. Do you go with the one that's played these games or one who hasn't that will have a huge amount of emotion Saturday night? I think Nix knows he is out of opportunities to step up and be an Auburn QB. If he doesn't prove something at LSU he will be the back up and looking for a spot through the portal.
  15. Last week was absolute garbage. It was a huge letdown game for the team after the lough loss at PSU with LSU staring at them a week away. The defensive leaders were missing and as a whole the team wasn't into the game and more going through the motions. This is not the team we will see this week. Nix will start and AU will win. Nix and Finley are basically the same QB. They make the same overthrows and both are having a great game by their historical standards if they complete 60% of their passes. I think Nix will get the benefit of the doubt and get the start with a short leash or a set plan to give Finley a series. LSU will be stacking the box and AU has to be able to threaten them at least a little to keep the DB's honest. If Nix cannot do this Finley will come in. Regardless one of them will have a great game this weekend. Nix has a job to save and Finley sees a crack in the door leading to his opportunity. AU-31 LSU-17
  16. I think your defensive assessment is dead on. I was impressed by the fact they played really well together even though they had not been on the field this fall. I think there will definitely be some improvement by the end of the fall and next season there should definitely be a better product on the field. I was also impressed by the support. Wallace had a good crowd come down but there were AU fans there for all three games. I think a lot of us are excited to get things going. My only negative was the base running which I mentioned previously. Maybe he was taking more chances to see what he has on the bases this year. Well also Coach Dean's choice of headwear. That hat is a cross between something Crocodile Dundee and Ronny Van Zant would wear.
  17. Hit decent. Wallace has some pretty good arms in the circle. Either Wallace is going to have a hell of a defense or AU has to pick it up on the base paths. Had a couple caught stealing. Two thrown out at third and another at the plate. These weren’t close. It was tough for me. First time ever in Auburn and actually cheering against them. I can tell you a lot more about how this AU team stacks up after WS plays Miss St, JSU, Samford, and Bama.
  18. Yes they did but not all schools are in the P-5 and can afford the money for the extra year for seniors that came back plus their regular scholly’s. Heck a lot of DI’s don’t fully fund the 12.5 they are allowed.
  19. From the posts on social media it appears it's wide open like normal. It stated no admission and limited concessions. I mean if we are going to have 80,000+ in Jordan Hare it can't hurt to have a couple hundred at a softball game. They have a couple of good weekends of softball. They have Wallace and Chipola coming in which are top Juco programs that can compete with a lot of mid-majors. Also have a 10 inning game scheduled against AUM which is a stout DII program.
  20. I will be happier with a 35-10 game than 52-0 if they work on packages/situations that need improvement vs doing what is already working. Put Nix in a situation that requires multiple reads to get him more practice at it in a live situation. If he makes a mistake go right back to it so he can correct it and see it on film. Do the same thing with defensive packages and keep working on the areas that need improvement to get it on film for review. Regardless of how things have gone the first three games it is still a new scheme with new coaches. I really want this week to be used to correct issues against a live opponent so they go into the SEC schedule ready to play. Just keep improving week by week and be ready to crush Oct/Nov..
  21. We try to hit one or two every year but as kids grow so do schedules. That's the hard part. I have spent the last 13 years at ball parks and soccer fields so we have to pick out just the right game that fits. Heck this weekend my daughter plays softball against AU Sunday and we will be there. We would love to be there Saturday as well but lump in a hotel and boarding three dogs and suddenly those $15 tickets turn into a $500 trip.
  22. All of the groups have something to work on. Couldn't be in a better spot schedule wise than having Ga St coming in before heading to LSU. Learn from it and work on it Saturday.
  23. I think we are way closer to the end than the beginning at uat. What drives most of these guys is competitiveness and wanting to be the best. He is now the best when it comes to titles. Only two realistic goals left for him because it would take 15 years of 10+ win seasons to catch Paterno. He is tied with Bryant for most NC's at Alabama. He is four behind him for most SEC Championships. I believe once he gets another NC he will be very close to done. His ego is big enough he will not let himself slide into the mediocrity that so many legendary coaches did at the end.
