My theory is that CFH really likes Auburn and believes it's a great opportunity. He knew that X's and O's alone would not get this program back on track so he delegated the offense to CPM and let him run the show in times where he had to recruit. CFH knows that recruiting is everything in CFB and you can't win this conference without a top 5 or 10 class. This worked at times and at other times it did not. He was one play away from winning the Iron Bowl and that would excuse pretty much all the short comings of 2023. He made a calculated bet that focusing on recruiting would help the program more long term than trying to win every game this year as wild as that sounds. We will find out but what we do know for sure is that the recruiting aspect is working and should continue to work. Auburn is a Ryan Williams away from a top 5 or fringe top 5 class with the 25 class shaping up to be very good. In hindsight he should've hired a better OC but maybe his hands were tied? Who knows. I've gone back and forth but I'm actually ok with him delegated the gameplan for the Music City Bowl. Recruiting is more important than a bowl game of that caliber right now.

Of course not. NCAA is in survival mode at the moment. They know their model is unsustainable. Making one of the largest and most popular public universities in the country you enemy would be dumb when the clock is ticking.

I wasn't able to watch but I listened to the game. Can't go wrong curb stomping Arkansas on the road. Goodness! We have some issues to work out but this team could be dangerous. Gotta stay healthy. War Eagle!

I wholeheartedly disagree. HS recruiting will still be the way to build championship programs. Portal will help fill gaps and add depth, but I don't think you can build long term sustainability through the portal. Kiffin will learn the hard way and it's just another reminder why he would've maybe lasted 3 seasons at Auburn. Not only can he not beat great teams, but he also doesn't recruit the elite HS talent you need to win championships. The portal can seem volatile at times but a lot of it has to do with social media and marketing from ESPN. 247, ON3, etc. A former 5* sophomore WR who has never started a game (thus not really panning out) will enter the portal and ON3 will tweet "BREAKING 5* WR from Southern Cal enters the portal." He's not a Heisman finalist. It's not working for him there and he wants greener pastures. It's not necessarily some existential crisis at every turn.

I don't blame him but what's funny is that his QB next year will be Jalen Milroe. If RW wants an experienced QB (who will play in the NFL) right away he should just go to Georgia.

I agree. I actually want to retract everything I said about Gus back in 2020 when he was fired. I was excited but wrong. Auburn should have waited a year then fired him unless there was drastic changes. We could’ve made a better hire but then again this is with A. Greene in charge so there’s no telling who we could’ve gotten. Personally, I really wanted Luke Fickell but that was a long shot.
