  1. Funny you mentioned this. I noticed that Grand Canyon crowd in Spokane was enormous, rowdy and LOUD the whole game, they out-numbered the uat fans 10-1 and I kept thinking that atmosphere would take a mental toll on the uat players. Alas it did not.
  2. It was like Grand Canyon chose to throw the kitchen sink at Bama hoping they could make chicken salad out of chicken $#!t. Bama played with aggression and their defense (relatively unseen all year) caused a lot of Grand Canyon's chaos.
  3. KD carried that intimidation factor that I loved; folks are always a little afraid of the crazy, kamikaze traits.
  4. I'm sure you're right, I'm still sour about the loss to freaking Yale. We couldn't make free throws when it counted most, and to think Mark Sears (as great as he is) could propel this Auburn team past UConn and to the National Championship game is not something I can seriously visualize after that Yale game.
  5. Ehh, Bama actually has Mark Sears on their team, and they aren't getting past the Tar Heels on Friday. They wouldn't beat any of the remaining 4 teams left in the East regional. Sears is solid, but I don't think this Auburn team could make it past UConn to ever get to the NC game even with Sears.
  6. DUI - posted bond and was released in less than an hour? He didn't even have to sit in the drunk tank to sobber up.
  7. Has anyone seen an actual NIL contract between a student-athlete and a collective? Rumors float around that some kids are getting up in the millions at certain programs before the kid ever enrolls. And prospects get $10,000 just to visit a campus before he even throws out an arbitrary commitment that means absolutely nothing. Someone tell me how effective a position coach be if he's making less than the players he's training. A 35 yr old Dline coach is pulling $650,000/yr and he could easily have an 18 yr old 5* lineman pulling $750,000/yr. OR a star QB is making more than his +40 yr old offensive coordinator & QB coach who have decades of experience in the profession.
  8. Season 2 8-4 (9-4 with a bowl WIN) Season 3 9-3 (10-3 with a bowl WIN) My Lord, there has to be improvement. This wallowing in mediocrity should be unacceptable on so many levels for Auburn, enough is enough!
  9. People best get used to this from Hugh. All one has to do is look back at his Ole Miss days to know how he operates in adversity (losses) and how he handles things.
  10. I'm eager to see if Deboer can juggle the actual coaching, game-prep AND the recruiting. Freeze with +6 yrs SEC HC experience had issues handling all of those responsibilities last year, we'll see soon enough if Deboer can do it or not.
  11. I'm no longer confident that building a program on tight relationships with character & hard work are viable with a wide-open transfer portal and NIL $$ flowing. Freeze's philosophy is to establish relationships, personal closeness with his player's, and he wants that permeating through the team. He wants to build a solid foundation where players hold each other accountable and work towards establishing an elite team. But the numerous folks chirping in players ears to go for the $$ and do whatever they have to do to get paid. There may no longer be a willingness to have patience, to grow and develop within a system before a player starts shopping for the next stop. I guess we'll see how it all works soon.
  12. He's getting four years to field a team ranked in the top 12 & qualifies for a 12-team playoff spot. Hmm
  13. So put Debore, Sark, Elko, Venables, Lebby at the bottom and Lea, Pittman, Freeze, Napier at the top? 😉
  14. Personally, I've been apathetic to Auburn Football for several years now. Not to sound like a Debbie Downer as I love watching a competitive and well coached team play ball. Competitive and well coached is just something that's been missing here for way too long, it feels like an uphill battle and AU's been in the cellar for a while.
  15. Move to contracts with non-compete clauses. It's a business decision, and athletes want professional level compensation. They can operate under professional level employment contracts just like the rest of the business world.
  16. It looks alright to me as of today. It also looks like a LOT of coaches need to prove themselves in the SEC, and quick.
  17. Wonderful news '50! Keep getting better, you are appreciated on this board. WDE
  18. If I'm Daddy Warbucks, it won't take long for me to scale back my donations if I don't see the teams produce something of significance within a year or two. The NCAA is neutered, NIL & transfer portal are unrestricted, and millions are flowing to the coaches and athletes. There are no excuses for mediocrity or lack of success.
  19. His domination was progressively being taken over by Kirby Smart. At the end of the day, trading one devil for another does Auburn no favors.
  20. I'd like to see what alternative is better than having the game streaming and on ESPN/SECN for anyone who chooses to watch it at their leisure. Exposure is pretty high up on the scale when a program is working tirelessly to market their brand and sell their vision for the football program. And so far as I can see, there's still crickets from the Administration on this decision. lol
  21. Listen, I get why ESPN wouldn't want to put together a Vandy production, but ESPN has exclusive rights to the SEC and there's zero excuse to not stream Auburn's game. The Auburn Administration, the SEC (Sankey) Freeze, Cohen should be raising hell over this snub. Unless for whatever reason Auburn chose not to have it aired? I'd think exposure and branding alone would be incentive enough to have ESPN do a live broadcast?
  22. I have no hypothesis; I'm frankly confused as to why Auburn's game is not aired. Georgia/Texas/Florida all get 4 teams aired. Virginia/NoCarolina/Kentucky/Mississippi all get 2 teams, etc. Is this the start of relegation? Has anyone at Auburn made a statement (I may have missed it) or even mentioned the situation?
  23. They are airing 4 (FOUR) spring games from the state of Georgia for crying out loud. UGA/GaTech/Kennesaw St/Ga Southern. But they chose to omit Auburn for the first time in forever all because we share a state with Alabama? I ain't buying that.
  24. Have you seen ESPN's list of spring games? This has nothing to do with Alabama. The fact that AL.com tried to gloss over it is hilarious. Every SEC team except Auburn, Vandy and aTm will be available in some shape or form. Edit: Texas A&M will be televised on ESPN+/SECN on Sat April 20th at 2:00 pm.
  25. I guess we'll see real soon if the plan many HC's have of culture, team spirit, patience, development, and loyalty to a program & coaching staff are still in existence or not. Freeze has stated that at his core, he is about building relationships and forming personal bonds with his players. He would ideally build a foundation at Auburn with talented high school players who take pride in wearing the O&B and who have the patience to accept the training and development he and his staff offer. Kids that will accept training, wait their turn and commit to the process he has put in place for success both on and off the field. I wonder if that is even be obtainable in today's NIL/portal environment of college football? Kids have folks in their ears wanting $$ and agents are shopping these kids non-stop to the highest bidder. Loyalty to a school is out the window, full ride scholarship is no longer considered a benefit and academics are rarely mentioned in the recruiting negotiations.
