  1. I hope you're doing ok. I've watched loved ones go through radiation treatments and I'll be the first to say that all of y'all are some tough customers. When I had cancer, radiation wasn't a possible treatment because my cancer gene wasn't a BRAF mutation. Radiation can be absolute hell but, as you know, it's another treatment option for cancer patients and the more treatment options, the better. Any treatment is worth it if it saves or prolongs your life. Praying that everything turns out well for you!!!
  2. I pray that your procedure goes well and it improves your quality of life Fifty. I had an uncle diagnosed with kidney cancer about 12 years ago. He was having terrible lower back pain but thought it was from a previous surgery flaring up again. He began losing weight rapidly and went to his doctor. He ended up getting a pet scan and they found a football sized tumor on one of his kidneys. He had the surgery at Vanderbilt and took his treatments there as well. I'm sure people wonder how a person can walk around with large tumors inside them and not know early on but it happens everyday. I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic melanoma in Sept. 2017 and took all my scans, treatments, etc. at UAB and the Kirklin Cancer Center at Acton Road in Birmingham. They gave me Keytruda and I was lucky enough to get into a clinical trial as well and it all saved my life. I'm not sure how progressed yours is or if you'll have to take treatments, etc. but hopefully they can get it all in this surgery tuesday and you'll be good as new. If it does turn out that you have to get further treatment just stay positive and always keep your head right. If you EVER need to talk about anything at all, just shoot me a PM and I'll be here for you. Praying for you brother and keep us posted. That goes for any of y'all on here. We may disagree at times but I feel like we all have one another's back in times like this. At the end of the day, sports is really small when yourself or a loved one is faced with real world problems. I've witnessed it many times on this forum when someone needs our help or just a prayer, this place always comes through and it is truly a family here.
  3. I agree with this if it's players and the coaches worrying what others do instead of what they're doing but this is fans on a message board. I truly don't see how this effects the team.
  4. Praying for you Fifty and hoping you're back very soon and better than ever!!
  5. Really happy for him and I hope he does really well. He won't have to recruit in the NFL. Starting to see more and more college coaches head to the NFL.
  6. Alot of us appreciate you taking time everyday to do this Fifty. I hope that everything is going good for you and your health is doing ok.
  7. All of those crazy fans that keep saying it's very hard to win road games in college basketball. Those fans are just clueless. South Carolina's players and coaches know for a fact that road games like they played tonight aren't any different than a home game. Sure, they got beat by 40 points and it was a wild, crazy and sometimes deafening environment inside Neville Arena but other than that, it was just like a home game for USCe. This game tonight further proves that it's not very hard to win on the road. Just ask USCe. 🙄😂 /s
  8. I saw a funny post on social media a bit ago. Someone was crying that this game was obviously rigged because of the beatdown we gave USCe. Then somebody replied "You're right, Auburn rigged this game. Auburn sent some people up to the airport in South Carolina and they drained all the fuel from the South Carolina team plane. The plane never took off and South Carolina's entire basketball program never showed up to Neville Arena tonight." 😂👍
  9. JWill and Broome combined for 44 points, they shot 16-26 from the field and 9-12 from 3 point land. Oh yeah, they combined for 0 turnovers!!! The team as a whole shot 61% from the field and 60% from 3-point land. Great job from this staff, the players and our fans really brought it AGAIN!!!! WDE everybody!!!
  10. One thing that's changed alot and many casual fans can't grasp is that the SEC has REALLY stepped up their game in basketball. It used to just be Kentucky every year and then schools like Arkansas, LSU, Alabama, Tennessee and Florida would have stretches where they could win the SEC Title and go to an Elite 8. Arkansas and Florida even won Natty's. Then we would have a really good year about once a decade or so and Mississippi State even made it to a Final Four. But it was always Kentucky then everybody else. But now that several schools have gotten serious about basketball, Kentucky is usually about a 3rd or 4th place team in the SEC. Us, Bama and Tennessee have been better than Kentucky the past 4 to 6 years. Joe Lunardi that does the bracketology keeps saying the SEC and Big 12 will lead all conferences with tournament teams. Last I seen, both conferences are predicted to get 9 teams in. That's stout as hell for the SEC because Texas and Oklahoma don't come into the conference in basketball until next season so the SEC being predicted to have 9 of their 14 teams make the tourney this year is huge. With the exception of Vanderbilt, I think any team in this conference can win against the rest of the conference. But we will still have alot of fans dump on this team and Bruce after every loss.
  11. That's a really big problem with our fans is many of them that want to complain and gripe for days after every loss, they never even knew Auburn had a basketball team before our 2019 Final Four run (I'm not talking about AUght2win or anyone in this thread). Football schools tend to have alot of fans that only follow football but they will start to casually pay attention to a sport if their team is having a good season. An example is Bammers with their basketball and softball, our fans with our basketball, baseball and softball, etc. The fans raise absolute hell over a loss but they can't tell you a single player or coaches name on the opposing team. They just see that "We're ranked higher than that other school but we lost. Complain, complain, complain." With fans like that, you can show them stats going back decades that show winning a Natty in college basketball is the hardest championship to win or stats that say winning on the road in college basketball is the hardest road win of all the sports and that includes professional sports as well. I can't give a definate reason why it's so hard but the stats don't lie and this has been a thing for decades. Just this season, Kansas has been ranked #1 thru #4 most of the year. They have lost 3 straight road games now and fell to #6 in today's new poll. One of the losses was against unranked Kansas State for the 2nd year in a row. Tennessee, who is one of the best SEC teams, lost at Mississippi State like Auburn did and they lost AT Texas A&M saturday night. Both MSU and TX A&M are unranked and Tennessee has been the top ranked SEC school all season. Alabama, who is tied for the SEC lead, lost by 20 at Knoxville and by 19 at Auburn and damn near lost at Mississippi State. Bama is ranked top 15 in the AP and has 7 losses. Kentucky has lost 3 games in a row at home for the first time since 1966. They're ranked #22. Sometimes teams can win big on the road. We blew out Arkansas at their place, Vandy at their place and Ole Miss at their place. Btw, when we thumped Ole Miss in Oxford, it's their only home loss all season. The top teams are not only losing on the road, they're getting blown out on the road when they lose. This isn't college football where you can almost guess who the playoff teams will be or how many games UGA, Bama, Ohio State will lose before the year begins. Before saturday's loss to Florida, we had 4 losses and all of those were by a few points and only about 5 teams nationwide could say that. Out of the top 25 AP poll, 19 teams have 5 or more losses. The only schools with less are Indiana State (who hasn't been ranked since Larry Bird left), Dayton, Houston, UConn, South Carolina and Purdue. Auburn is 19-5 and only South Carolina has less losses of the SEC schools that are ranked. They're 21-3. Tennessee has 6 losses, Bama and Kentucky have 7 losses. Coaches will always say the goal at the start of the year in conference play is to try to go undefeated at home and split your road games. We had done exactly that before the Florida loss. Our team this year is a good team. We fell from #12 to #13 after that loss saturday. Vegas still has us with the 5th or 6th best odds to win the National Title and that's from over 300+ schools. We have a really good team. Florida is big and they shutdown our inside game and made us shoot 3's and were were cold. It happens and in college basketball, it happens alot. Our 2019 season where we made a Final Four run, we lost 9 games in the regular season alone. We started 2-6 in conference play that year. We got red hot in the SEC Tourney and then knocked off Kansas, North Carolina and Kentucky all in that order. Chuma Okeke tore his ACL in the UNC game but we still blew them out, then beat Kentucky and should've beaten Virginia who was the overall #1 seed. Go back and read the game threads from that year when we were losing alot in conference play. Half this forum was saying we wouldn't even make the tournament but we ended up Final Four. Not saying we will do that this season but I am saying we have a really good team and a very deep team. Maybe some fans should go watch more college basketball games and especially watch basketball games outside of JUST Auburn. Maybe that will open some eyes and get so many off the ledge.
  12. I saw a stat yesterday saying Florida is the #1 rebounding team in the country and they're #2 in offensive rebounds. Most stats I saw, we were better but not by much. Gonna be a dogfight.
  13. I haven't read the entire story about this but I did see where Alabama fans are saying Ryan Grubb never even stayed long enough to sign his contract as Bama OC. I LOVE IT!!!!! That program has been taking L after L ever since they lost to Michigan in the playoffs. It's past time that program and fanbase gets humbled.
  14. I like this. Like others here have said, he's a young coach and players will be able to relate to him well. What he lacks in experience, he can lean on our veteran staff of defensive coaches and they'll help him and guide him I'm sure. Coach Freeze has done a good job with these new coaching hires and hiring Will Redmond away from LSU was a plus as well. I think our staff got stronger overall in recruiting and on-field coaching. WDE
  15. JWill and Broome combined for 50 points, 13 rebounds, 7 blocks, 3 steals, 1 turnover and 18 for 21 from the line. WDE
  16. Well I just saw on ESPN that Ryan Williams went ahead and signed with Alabama today instead of waiting until Feb. 9th on his birthday.
  17. Supposedly Garner and TWill tried to pull off a coup to get Gus fired and Kevin Steele elevated to head coach. I question that because when Gus was hired at UCF, he immediately hired TWill as his DC. And TWill left Miami, after only a week or so on the job, to take the UCF job. Garner was immediately hired by Josh Heupel at Tennessee to be their D-Line coach. That story of the supposed "coup" is similar to the story when Bo Nix left for Oregon, it was immediately said that Pat Nix went into Harsin's office demanding to be the OC and QB coach at Auburn but "Hard for Harsin" set him straight and told Pat and Bo to get the hell out so Bo transferred to Oregon. I think that was a story spun by our fans to save face about our legacy QB leaving us for a PAC12 school. The reason I say that is because not long after Harsin was fired, he put a photo on his Twitter acct of himself, his son and Bo Nix at Oregon's stadium with their arms around one another posing for a photo. Kinda blew that whole story apart that Harsin kicked Bo out of Auburn and they hated each other. Bo left for Oregon because he wasn't getting to the NFL by staying here at AU. It's obvious he made the right decision because he will be a 1st round draft pick now and made it to NYC as a Heisman finalist. Auburn will eventually get back to what we all want but Bo made the right decision for himself, given what shape we were in at that time.
  18. Sounds like a great idea to me!! Since it's still early in the 2024 year, maybe since Terry was #88, we can have a Terry Beasley Day on the 88th day of the year. People can post stories, photos of Terry, etc. on that day. 88th day of the year would be the end of March. I'm sure others could come up with something better but that's an idea.
  19. I remember during our bowl game against Maryland, the announcers mentioned 3 different times during the game that they had talked to Hugh the evening before the game and Hugh had told them that Thorne will be the starter for 2024. Then, like you mentioned, in the postgame presser Hugh said "The QB competition is wide open come spring." But he never mentioned bringing in a portal QB. Then when I listened to his interview wednesday and he mentioned being comfortable with Hank, Walker and Thorne for 2024, I just take his quote of the QB competition being wide open this spring to mean its wide open amongst the QB's we currently have on roster. I would like a QB from the portal if he would be a "plug in and play" type QB. But at this point, even if Freeze got a transfer QB, it would be fall camp before they got here I think. And we all saw how important it is for a new QB to go through spring practice. Thorne got here late and it showed because the timing with the WR's seemed off.
  20. I wasn't born until the late 70's, so I didn't have the pleasure of watching Mr. Beasley play live but I've seen the game films and heard/read the great stories about him. Something I've noticed is when Auburn fans from that era mention their favorite players, Beasley is at or near the top. RIP #88
  21. What city did you live in? I'm from the Shoals area.
  22. I think this season will be better on both sides of the ball. Hey fifty, have you gotten anymore news on your kidney issue? Praying for you!!
  23. You're exactly right. At his presser on Early Signing Day he said straight up that he wasn't getting a portal QB. Then yesterday at Senior Bowl practice he said it again. Besides him doing a presser for the Maryland bowl game, these 2 times on ESD and yesterday are the only 2 times I have seen him take questions since the season ended and both times he said he is comfortable with our current QB room for 2024 and is going with them as our QB room for 2024. In my opinion, it's the media and Auburn podcasters that won't let it die. I know that Thorne isn't that good (my opinion) and I think Hugh should've gotten a portal QB this past portal window but he can't make it anymore plain than what he has made it. But the Locked on Auburn podcast and other AU podcasters just keep on saying that Hugh is going after the Liberty QB, the James Madison QB, Will Rogers, Julian Sayin and others. I guess they need content everyday but it gives fans false hope after Hugh has flatout said he isn't getting a QB from the portal. I want another QB and I don't like our chances next year if Thorne is QB1 but I also believe Hugh when he keeps telling us he isn't getting one. If Hugh keeps telling me no but I keep thinking he will get a QB despite what he says, then I have no right to get pissed off when September gets here and it's the same QB room that Hugh has repeatedly said it's going to be.
  24. "Auburn ended up dead last in the SEC in passing yards per game for 2023 at 162 ypg." Can't say any of us had that on our Bingo card headed into the 2023 season.
  25. I haven't read any comments here belittling this 2024 recruiting class or what the staff accomplished by bringing this class in. What a few here are pointing out, myself included, is the Auburn athletics PR team has put out multiple things and stats, as fact the past year or so and they're totally wrong. This certain graphic says that "of the active SEC coaches, Hugh Freeze had the highest ranked recruiting class for their first year." That's not true. Kirby Smart's first recruiting class at Georgia ranked 3rd. Brian Kelly's first recruiting class at LSU ranked 5th. Also, if they want to count Sarkisian and Venables as active SEC coaches now, their first classes ranked 3rd and 5th. That's not belittling Hugh's accomplishments or this staffs accomplishments. What it is doing is calling out our PR team for putting out graphics claiming something as fact when its quickly proven to be wrong. If Auburn put out a graphic saying "Congrats to Hugh Freeze. His first season at Auburn finished 6-7 overall, which is the best first season by any active SEC coach." If you call that out as being misinformation, is that also belittling? To alot of people it looks as if our PR/social media team doesn't fact check their stuff or proofread anything. It's been this way for well over a year now.
