  1. we're playing 7 in the rotation - and they're not shooting well. Holding our own on rebounds and turnovers Good sign.
  2. "There's nothing like a Saturday in Autzen Stadium, in front of the best fans in college football," Nix said. "There's nothing like being an Oregon Duck. For 2023, I'm back." I guess another year like he had this season will help his draft stock. I hope he does well in front of the best fans in college football, funny, I thought that was us!
  3. He should if he still wants to play. I seriously doubt he would fit the O we'd like to run next year. I don't mean this to be a knock on TJ.
  4. yes, it was turnovers and fouling that let this game slip away from us.
  5. Can you imagine the discussions in the meeting to final come out with a 12 decision?
  6. Mikey, I think you're missing the point. You sound like the BCS era for Division 1/FBS thinking where somehow you find the best X teams and match them off. A "College Football Playoff" should be a playoff. There are different ways to do the selection. Do you really think there are 68 teams that could win a NCAA basketball championship? I don't. Some games are duds and some are great watching. And every once in a while a team comes out of nowhere to take down some giants. and sometime they go pretty far. Saint Peter Peacocks were last years team. I thought our run a few years ago was magical. I truly think we got HOT at the right time and were cable of winning it all. That would not have happened if a selection committee picked the top 8 or 12 to play. A true playoff allows a chance for many (16?). If we keep doing it like we have its uga, bama, osu, ... the same old teams to pick from. If you form a playoff system and give the same old teams a bye, then you are very likely to get the same old thing for the final games. Lets see how this goes.
  7. This is an old topic with so many logical solutions; many with emotional responses. I note: So for all the ones saying my "16" is wrong and cite; "4 is good enough", "8 is the right answer", "24...." and say there are too many games.... and its a money grab... I say 16 is the right answer, no byes
  8. 11 regular season and no conference champion (use the regular season to determine conference champion + tie breakers). There should be enough time.
  9. Hey, lets start storming the field and start demanding a 16 team playoff - no bye's for the top teams. We all know, for now, the top 4 teams are likely to be the same top 4 we usually get. If the top 4 get a bye, they get the easiest path to the championship. I say, noone get a bye and everyone has to play the same number of games. Things like injuries equal out because we all play the same number of games.
  10. I know our O-line did not perform their best in 2022 but a lot of the blame should fall on the BH/coaching staff for not figuring out how to get the best of the line talent. Once BH was canned, the team rallied around a running attack that continued to produce (actually got a little better) running the ball. We culminated in the most running yards against bama, they didn't surrender that kind of yardage to anyone all season - and they knew that's what we were going to do and they couldn't stop it. Now, the rise of the running game came at the expense of a disappearing passing game. Some of that could been on the injury to RA. So lets quit tossing the O-line under the bus. Yes they were not the best, but if we had done what a Caddy led effort revealed earlier in the season, we might have gotten bowl eligible. Still rubs my a$$ to have to watch a 5-7 Rice team today in a bowl game.
  11. Well that's one way of looking at it. But if you are one of the individuals that was making say $200K/Yr (or more) but knew you were not going to be retained - would you want to stay to help recruit players to the school that wasn't going to retain you? Or, do you want to find another longer term paying position with another school and start recruiting for that school that will be paying you going forward? These "holdovers from CBH tenure have families that they have to provide for. CHF is doing them a favor by letting them go early so they can find another job. And we as fans have to hope they can. We shouldn't be hoping they stay a little longer to help recruit players to the school we love; then ask then to clean out their old office and leave... It might be different if they choose to take a different position within the staff - at a reduced salary - because staying in Auburn for another year is best for their family. But before the salary reduction in Jan 23, they can legally still recruit for the university. Does anyone know that is the case for these 2?
  12. Will do, but this position and their staff doesn't count against the NCAA 11 on-field coach limit.
  13. I went by what the AuburnTigers.com web site showed: https://auburntigers.com/sports/football/coaches I have to believe there will be another defensive position coach as there are only 3 on staff now. I would think we would have at least 4 coaches on D, maybe 5 if one of the coaches worked special teams. We have 5 on O and the HC against the 11 max allowed.
  14. Yes, 10 + HC. 11 in total. McGriff was reported to be joining us, but I cannot find an official announcement. I also cannot find anything official on Zac departing, so I left him in and Mcgriff off the matrix.
  15. Is this accurate?; I show 3 positions to fill now that Coach Robinson is out.
  16. KD would have helped us tonight, but we need to see what we have without him. Raw potential = ups and downs in front of us; our length and D will keep us in games when there is a lid on our goal but if we play a good team that can score I see more loses like the Memphis game. I hope the playing time gets us better as a team as we roll to Mar.
  17. Correct CBH bowl loss - Thanks DKW 86 for catching this error. I also fixed Gus's 1st year run. I'm only looking to capture transfer portal info going forward as there really wasn't anything like it before (so I greyed out the other cells) AUCANUCKTIGER I think we only have 3 wins that are very likely - see blue items, I see 3 highly likely losses (red). The other 6 are up for grabs. Who we get between now and fall to include a good QB and several OL and DL will determine how successful we might be. History would suggest we are likely to be around 6-6 which might be good enough for a bowl bid. If our O cannot produce points, then we're likely to finish below .500 again.
  18. It would be nice, but a more realistic pick is 6-6 in regular season with a win in a bowl game. Maybe we can get to 7-5 if we get a good QB as the starter (could be RA, but more likely a transfer portal QB); win a bowl game and we finish 8-5. I would really be surprised if we could win more than 7 in the regular season given our many needs on the O and D side.
  19. I was trying to fill in this matrix and ran into a wall, can anyone help with missing fields? I am guessing at the 2023 A day game. Probably a deeper dive into the recruiting class would be useful to see who in each class would go on to play a meaningful role would be needed to appreciate the quality of the incoming class.
  20. Just curious, does anyone have a link to any other Auburn HC 1st talk to the team? I wonder what BH said.
  21. Since we can only have a total of 11 on field coaches on staff (NCAA limit), I thought I'd show how Freeze organized Liberty vs our announced hiring's. 11 Liberty 6 Auburn 1 Head Coach 1 Head Coach 1 Co-Offensive Coordinator/QB Coach 1 Co-Offensive Coordinator/WR Coach 1 WR Coach 1 Tight Ends 1 Tight Ends 1 Running Backs 1 Running Backs / Associate Head Coach 1 Offensive Line 1 Offensive Line 1 Co-Defensive Coordinator/LB Coach 1 Co-Defensive Coordinator/Safeties 1 Defensive Line 1 Defensive Line 1 Defensive Backs ?? 1 Special Teams Coordinator We do not know yet if Zac has secured on on the field spot on this coaching staff - this is what I remembered being announced. That is why I have "??" shown above. I think the coordinator positions maybe known just not announced - I hope. We have 4-5 coaches yet to announce.
  22. so many SLU missed FTs, especially down the stretch; its why we won. Games will be tough when we cannot shoot 3's. Nice to know we can win them if we don't have the 3 ball. On to the next game.
  23. I don't hate bama; I just love seeing them loose. And, when we get them to loose, it is the best.
