  1. I missed most of the game, but heard there were former players, NFL guys, and lots of recruits. Would anyone mind sharing who were the bigger names in attendance?
  2. I never said Auburn would cease to be Auburn, or that he was irreplaceable. Now you are being dramatic. And I'm not putting him on a pedestal, but I do think his particular brand of fire and affection for the program is VERY rare and would be hard to duplicate. If that one word is the entire reason we've had this back and forth, then I'll say it would be 'unfortunate and disappointing' and we can move on. But I'm beginning to think your issues with the excitement surrounding Caddy has not much to do with my actual post, so yeah, let's move on.
  3. Actually, no. I'm not advocating he be put it in the head coach position because of 'the moment'. I actually think that is an emotional reaction and would be a mistake. But I can appreciate and respect that he is pretty much singlehandedly the reason we recovered as significantly as we did in such a short amount of time.
  4. Firing Harsin was a great thing. An absolutely necessary thing. But we don't recover instantly just because he is removed. The level of positivity right now on the heels of that is because of Caddy. Without his infusion of excitement and genuine affection for the program, the players and the school, we might be in a holding pattern, trending upward, but not to this degree. It's not 'histrioinic' to recognize or appreciate that. In fact, it's kind of dense to refuse to see it.
  5. We were as low as a program and fanbase could get just a week ago. In just a few days he nearly singlehandedly pumped excitement, value and purpose back into our players and fans, and honestly even our brand. The narrative went from what a disaster we were as a program to mostly positive takes in a week's time. I expect the stadium will be bulging at the seams this weekend,as opposed to the expectation that most seats would sit empty for the remainder of the season. That's a monumental shift and I appreciate the value in it. I think it would be tragic to let all the goodwill and promise surrounding Caddy go to another team.
  6. Not in my opinion. It would be a huge loss if he went somewhere else after the events of this past week.
  7. I love Cadillac. I think what he has been able to do as interim coach in one week is unmatched, because he loves Auburn and Auburn loves him. His fire and passion and talent are exactly what we needed in this moment, and making him interim was a stroke of brilliance. But it's not fair to him because of all the feels we are experiencing right now to expect him to leap into a full time HC role here. It sets him up for failure. I've seen comparisons to Orgeron, a home grown Cajun who revitalized the LSU program, but couldn't sustain it and ultimately went down in flames. Who could possibly want to risk Caddy in a similar situation? All things in due time...there is a season for everything. That being said, if the next head coach can't see the value he brings to this coaching staff, the players, and the school, and doesn't retain and hopefully even promote him, it will be an absolute tragedy.
  8. Because that's how our last coach was hired
  9. So proud of their fight. I thought it would be a blowout based on the first quarter.
  10. Air horns would be amazing 😅 but I'd love every other team to use their own stupid ish against them.
  11. I just told my husband, every single team in the SEC that plays Miss St should take cowbells to the game and shake the $&!# out of them. Both hands.
  12. I don't know anything about a vulgar joke, 👇 but something along those lines makes a lot more sense in relation to a last minute, complete, 180* life change than something like posted above. He wasn't applying to be a level 2 training coach at Chick-fil-A. He was flying across the country for a major promotion as the AD of an SEC school. I'm sure all the nuances of that decision had been discussed already with his family. I can't imagine the morning of the flight he thought, ' perhaps I should chat with my wife about this'.
  13. I have read serveral articles regarding this. My only question would be why was he pursuing a different AD job if his ultimate intent was to retire immediately?
  14. I think he meant appealing to the kids on the sidelines, not the ones in the end zone.
  15. Exactly. A myth/rumor struggles to persist if it's fully fabricated. The reason this has legs is because it has played out in real time again and again. Roberts was the guy that was going to get us moving in a new direction, and in his first major public decision it appears he has defaulted to the same old $#&!?@. It's exhausting.
  16. I think he's telling you it WAS the case with Hartwell. It doesn't sound to me like he's guessing.
  17. This. While I understand everyone's main concern is the head coach, Jay Jacobs nor Allen Greene did us any favors as ADs, and put the program in a tailspin. The AD DOES matter.
  18. I realize this is just anecdotal, but if you read the comments on Thamel's tweet, Miss State fans are very excited about the possibility that he leaves. They are begging us to take him today. I know nothing about him at all, but that is concerning to me. We really needed to get this right.
  19. I don't understand why we are so dysfunctional. After years of poor decisions/leadership and a slow and steady slide to the bottom of the barrel, this seemed like the moment where everything was aligning to finally start moving in the right direction. Why can't we get it right? 😭
  20. The article I read didn't even mention his name. It appeared to be a toxic situation fostered by the head coach, who was removed.
  21. There is a former football player suing the school because he recorded the HC and police chief making derogatory comments about sexual assault victims. Once he shared the recordings, he felt he was bullied off the team. It would seem Hartwell is tangential to the process due to his position as AD, not because he was directly involved.
