  1. That's not the point. You asked how this could possibly have been done for revenge. He is in a precarious position until all of this shakes out. That is vengeful in itself.
  2. Look at the trouble he is currently in. It's kind of self-explanatory. If she costs him his football career, that's about as bad as it gets, shy of criminal charges.
  3. I feel like this is why I don't agree with your original statement. Hundreds of players filter in and out of a college athletics program over the years. I watch because I love my school and want us to win... If a player helps that happen, I'm glad he's here. What originally brought him here doesn't lessen the game for me. Bo Nix is a great example. You'd be hard pressed to find a player with a greater emotional connection to a school. That relationship went down in flames, and you could even suggest his personal stakes...his 'legacy' and all the expectations that were coupled with it...became more detrimental than beneficial.
  4. If it was my teenager, she'd probably want to buy $2500 worth of candy. 🙄
  5. I wish there was a happy cry emoji
  6. Lol. Or you could be a bit more objective. https://www.on3.com/db/rankings/consensus-team/football/2023/ https://n.rivals.com/team_rankings/2023/all-teams/football?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAK-YOgiDx97t_mJU-OLniawKUslPhIWKVcQLfqY8vKXXg9nyHzY0tu_50HlFB1-LUzSJ62In5DgRKupNiA3t9xQQvu49B_wGhFjdWMC9KJEndy3-JKgE02Me5b83p3EZ-keDg3uifUEDxEb5dhvzfE6ySseVViG1c0YX32VmntAH
  7. It doesn't make it any less confusing. With all the speculation and rumor, it's hard to figure out who is truly on staff. Especially when mainstream media runs articles that we've hired people we haven't officially hired yet.
  8. I'm confused about the timing regarding the Jake Thornton announcement. He's been named OL coach since Dec 6, but just officially announced today?
  9. I've only recently begun to follow recruiting at even a basic level, but my understanding based on reading this forum is that while Gus had decent rankings, he didn't recruit strategically. We had good numbers, but not in positions we desperately needed them. (IE, our O-line has been in a dire situation for years)
  10. This is what I took from it as well. All coaches, like all people in general, have strengths and weaknesses. He would choose an OC that complimented his strengths and weaknesses to put together a well balanced offense. Someone he could learn from as well as teach. It was actually refreshing to me... Our last two coaches did not seem to be willing to admit their weaknesses, and our team suffered the consequences.
  11. I will be the first to acknowledge that I know very little about the inner workings of coaches, agents, and getting contracts signed. I just found it funny, and a little curious, that LK didn't sign his extension until the day we announced our new coach, after so many days of sitting on it. I kept wondering why he never signed, and if he was holding out for some reason.
  12. I don't know why, but those 2004 players look massive compared to some of our guys today. Maybe the pads? They just look huge.
  13. Not specifically game related, but omg that ESPNW song grates on my nerves.
  14. I really did wonder, after listening to that interview with Charles Barkley, if there was any way Deion was still on the table? He mentioned speaking to him weekly. I would imagine the topic has come up. If there was no interest at all, you would think that Charles wouldn't even be floating the idea.
  15. I think I would be more angry about that comment as a Clemson fan. Because he didn't beat us as a bammer, he was Clemson's head coach at that point. How sucky for them. It would be like if Harsin had said 'leave it to an Idaho potato head to beat LSU in Death Valley.'
  16. Exactly. Just kind of ballsy, considering how close to the vest this is seeming to be kept, that he would venture in that direction.
  17. How would the Ole Miss rivals reporter know who our second in line would be?
  18. Turnaround doesn't always equate to wins and losses. The spirit of Auburn football and the tone around the program has absolutely done a 180, pretty much overnight.
  19. It's not their emotion in play. What people are referring to is the absolute goodwill and excitement that has been infused back into the program, almost overmight. Auburn is trending on Twitter, with positive energy for the first time in a long time. It's not only 'whack-a-doo fans' all up in their feels calling for his retainment as HC. You have former players calling for removal of the interim title, some broadcasters wondering if he shouldn't just get the job. It's gotten big, fast. So fast I think it has caught most people by surprise. I think the concern is that as quickly as we recovered our love for Auburn football we could fall right back into apathy and even disgust if it isn't handled well. People are watching us now with renewed interest and even affection. And handled well doesn't equal making him HC. But it does need to be done with care and wisdom, and 'dealing with the interim' was probably a factor that didn't weigh as heavily prior to seeing the response Caddy has received.
