A lot of that’s the coaching staff’s fault for not having a decent ball handler. Zep Jasper/Wendell Greene was a substandard point guard room in the SEC and Flanny and JWill suffered for it. Pearl didn’t play Flanigan last season until Moore was unplayable, that was an error. They also trusted Wendell Greene to run an SEC offense. Looks like Pearl felt the same because he upgraded the point guard room and he brought in another wing.

The number of people who think Flanny was a turnover machine blows my mind. He averaged 33% less turnovers than Wendell Greene per game. I guess it’s a residual feeling from Al’s freshman year when he played out of position because we didn’t have a PG? Anyway, dude was a beast and helped us win a ton of games. Now he’s helping ole Miss win a bunch of games, no surprise.

Bruce was a fool to try and start Chris Moore over Flanny. We lost one of the more talented players on our team. Wendell Greene also did a truly terrible job of running the offense last year so half of Al’s possessions were late clock heroics. Flanigan is finally getting the minutes he deserves and he’s a big reason Ole Miss is climbing the rankings. They’re giving him the ball unlike us. If we hadn’t picked up CBM you’d really feel the absence of Flanigan. I don’t know if we’d be better. I do know that Allen is a talented ball player and we didn’t do a great job of putting him in position to succeed.

This team doesn’t really have a lot of NBA potential. I think guys like Tre Donaldson could play on a Skylar Mays kind of contract for ten years. KD can play internationally or g-league. Jaylin Williams could be a rotational guy if he keeps getting better. I’m not sold on Aden being an NBA PG. I think Broome could be a backup 5. I don’t see a lottery pick but I think we have 7-9 guys who could have professional careers at some level. Edit: most of the lottery picks are really young and drafted on potential not their college stats. I think we’ve got a great roster. I’m not downplaying our talent; I see 8 professional players.

Tre is proving himself as a clutch player and he’s fearless. He’s also relentless in trying to make great passes. I hope we have him for four years. He’s awesome. I wanted him to play more last year so I’m thrilled to see him growing into his role. Aden is going to be deadly, but he’s forcing some things and playing tight. It’ll come to him soon.

I’d love it if we pull it off. We’ve only played one quad one game so far. We need to win some of these tossups to get a good seed. War Eagle

I think our upside is up there with any of them. We might be the best team in the league, or we might be the sixth best. I just hope we are playing our A game in February/March. If Denver Jones and Baker can go on a little roll to close the season we can compete. I’m loving our point guard rotation. I think we go 11-7 or 12-6 and finish about fourth in the league right now.

More chances for Quad 1 wins. We’ve been hurt in a few tournaments because we didn’t have enough Quad 1 games. Anyone in the top 75 is a quad 1 win if you beat them on the road.

I didn’t know that but they looked good to me and their coach seemed talented. They didn’t miss many shots warming up at the half so I wasn’t surprised to see them get back in it for a minute.

Anybody remember when Hugh Freeze took that loaded Ole Miss squad up to Arkansas and got skunked by a Brett Bielema team? He’s always going to poop his pants at least once a year. We spent the last four years moving on from Gus to arrive at Gus Light. I’m exhausted, but I’ll be in section 106 to watch Bruce Pearl and the boys dunk on Penn. I just wanna be competitive every Saturday. That’s all I’m asking for.

Why pay for all these flashy new recruits? Multiple times this year it seems like the guys didn’t even line up right. We don’t play with leverage, we don’t tackle well. The list goes on.
