  1. Why did the receiver stop running his route?!? Why does the backup QB get a backup RB...in a bowl game? Bizarre.
  2. Thorne misses TD and wide open receiver. Next throw he's picked off. Saved by roughing the passer but Thorne then chews out his lineman? Freeze may have done long term confidence damage to Thorne and ABOUT Thorne with teammates by leaving him in that long.
  3. Considering his playing experience and the top tier college coaching he's received, it's truly unbelievable how poorly Thorne is playing in this game.
  4. Scotts drop cost us 3. I hope Freeze gift wraps that non-called, protracted facemask by Twerp OL on our DL with white hat $taring right at it - looky here NCAA official$ a$$ociation.
  5. Brian van Gorder was burnt out when he came to the Plains. He was caught on film doing ridiculous things at Auburn like running onto the field to congratulate his D and getting flagged when he wrongly thought it was 4th down.
  6. The look Freeze shot at Thorne after that terrible, low throw on 4th & 4 speaks volumes. Geriner better get ready, if not during this game then during this Spring.
  7. I remember a stat-ish post on this board re SEC domination vs Big 10 historically & recently, both overall and their best vs our best. Not to jinx Bama (heh heh) vs Mich but after upstart Missouri thumped #7 Ohio State last night, I'd love to see how that record's going.
  8. It doesn't take a mystic to see this part time bubble WR/part time wildcat QB role was probably offered to Robbie first. It's in Montgomery's repertoire, gotta have somebody to run it.
  9. Interesting articles out this week re 14 bowls - including Music City - allowing helmet & other traditionally forbidden (in college) coach to player wireless communications. We're not using it, Maryland is. SEC is considering it going forward. In light of Freeze's statement this season that he stays out of some of the O because he isn't on top of Montgomerys signal system(!), seems we'd benefit tremendously by this technology. IMHO. Apparently everybody's not sold on the helmet microphone safety yet (NFL is not your player safety poster child) but we can all thank signal-stealing-tools Michigan for advancing a discussion that might benefit us.
  10. It's stunning how national AND regional media are virtually not mentioning Davis in any storylines. At all. It's just hard to find a sports "journalist" anymore. Awesome job, coach Davis!
  11. Huge mistake if he thinks he's NFL ready. I'll never forget Robert Johnson, Auburn TE that by the end of his junior yr was hurdling would be tacklers and looking like a man. He clearly wasnt ready but was on his way. Listened to handlers who told him to go early. Didn't get drafted and is sitting on a porch now selling insurance.
  12. No doubt. 18 year olds chasing the money and listening to handlers.
  13. Cut out half of the dropped Thorne passes OR half of the wide open receivers he missed and we win 2, maybe 3 more games this year. Three drops specifically come to mind. Going all the way back to Burns at QB (ironically, later a WR coach) we've had bad luck (or whatever) having both our QB and receivers have a great game at the same time.
  14. Norvell is Napier but with luck.
  15. Tubberville was a master at scaring the crap out of me then pulling together decent classes the week before signing day. He'd be out hunting early February and Al.com would be laughing, then we'd find out Tubbs had been hunting with recruits or their family member.
  16. Good points. History will divide college football recruiting into two phases: pre & post NIL. IMHO Dye was our best pre NIL, Bear Bryant type, recruiter. Mario Cristobal is an example of an awesome pre NIL recruiter struggling with the recruitng-by -committee that is NIL. Everybody's still figuring it out a bit but Freeze was a ore NIL star that seems to have made he transition from silent films to talkies.😉
  17. Smart had #1 recruiting classes before UGa's first post-1980 natl title, yes? No reason we can't too.
  18. This, and Freeze's comments last spring re Grayson McCall suggest his portal QB interest then was ltd to top tier program veterans wanting more NIL w/ same skill set as our young QBs - to start 2023 season & mentor/ease our youngsters into Freezeball & big time football. Mccall would have been perfect but Thorne may fit that profile so Freeze may stand pat.
  19. I'm amazed more wasn't made from the game promo end of Bob Knight saying "Auburn beating Indiana would be like a flea raping an elephant". Something after game like "flea rapes elephant" or such, certainly by BSPN or SI.
  20. Numbnut Gameday storyline will be TAGOVALIA vs Bo Jackson's college in Georgia...or somewhere down there. Their recent score vs Michigan is an eye-opener
  21. We've lost 3 bowl games in a row and 7 of our last 9 bowls. Important to start a new trend (e.g. 5 in a row from 2007-2011).
  22. I remember #4 Maryland & QB Boomer Esiason rolling into Auburn to play us at HOMECOMING in '83. They were very very good and we handled them very very thoroughly.
  23. It's unbelievable hearing crying on an Auburn board for an undefeated team with the #55 schedule strength not getting in the top 4. That's undefeated Western Michigan, UCF and Utah crybaby territory. 2004 Auburn went undefeated beating FIVE (5) top 10 teams then crushed our SEC title game opponent and didnt get a chance to play for the natl title. Cry me a river, criminoles. Research 1969 penn state, 1966 bama, etc etc etc. Been happening to undefeated top tier teams for over 150 years.
