SEC Tournament field

Recommended Posts

I am trying to figure out how the field is selected. Is it first and second in each division and the next four best records? or the best eight sec records? thanks

The Western and Eastern division winners get the top 2 seeds.

The next 6 best league records (regardless of division) get in.

Simple.

If there ends up being 3 or 4 way ties then its not as simple if you have ever read the tie breaker rules on the SEC site....

Auburn is in unless something crazy happens next weekend.  We own the tiebreakers over Arky and UAT.  MSU has an advantage over us.

Auburn's magic number is 1.  So 1 win for Auburn at UT and we're in.  If next weekend plays out as expected, one would predict us to take 2 at UT, MSU to take 2 vs LSU, Arkansas to take 2 vs Ole Miss, and Bama to win 1 over USC.  If that is the case it'd be a 3 way tie with MSU winning the tiebreaker and us finishing 2nd in the West.  2nd in the west will likely cause us to be the 5th seed in the SEC tournament.  (I'm predicting UGA to get swept at Vandy).  Auburn will probably stay out of the 7th or 8th spot as long as we can win 2 due to the fact that we have the tiebreaker over every west team besides MSU.
