TitanTiger 20,499
Auburn is ranked second, ahead of USC. This factors in the Cal loss and the UT and UGA wins. The red column is the one used in the BCS (Elo-Chess). http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt04.htm
AuNuma1 1
So does this mean if they did another cut of the BCS rankings Auburn would be #2? Or just this particular poll would have us #2?
TitanTiger 20,499
Just that part of the computer rankings. There are five others to consider, although the Colley rankings have a thing where you can punch in results of bowl games and Auburn vaults to #1 if it wins given what's happened in the other ones. AuNuma1 1
So does the BCS put out a final ranking after all bowl games or what? I mean, why is this poll still keeping score if the BCS is done?
TitanTiger 20,499
Well, the various computer rankings are independent as well as part of the BCS, so they'll put their rankings out regardless. It will be interesting to see what they all look like after the bowls if we win tonight. With Cal and UCLA losing, plus A&M and Okie State going down, while UT and UGA won, Auburn is likely to move up in all of the polls. A hypothetical BCS poll will probably be done using the formula they have.
Auburn85 432
I don't understand why they continue during the bowls because it's not going to change the BCS results. Oklahoma or USC will be the BCS championship.
