Of course, the leading producer of methane on the planet is termites, mainly in the tropics. What are they going to do about that?

No, termites are not the leading producer of methane.

IMHO, this is a futile effort and, is potentially more damaging.  An initiative like this, has to have global cooperation/participation.  Cutting beef production in California is virtually meaningless and, if that production is shifted to South America and requires more deforestation, it only makes matters worse.

According to one of your links termites are second behind wetlands. Maybe what I read some years ago was somehow qualified. Anyway, termites are either first or second or (according to your other link) are responsible for 15% of the worlds methane production without stating where 15% falls. In any case, termites produce a lot more methane than do cattle, which was kinda' my point.

They are not affecting beef production much, it's the dairy farmer that will be ruined or forced to move across a state line. Go read the OP's link.

California to regulate cow farts.

http://www.fox5ny.com/news/220448846-story

Lets see if I get this Blue> you are posting an article that says when the cows burp, fart, or take a dump in the pasture, it creates methane that speeds up global warming which is going to kill us and destroy the planet. CA wants to regulate this but it cost the farmers  to much so they will have to shut down or move to another state or country. We need milk  and the cows would continue to burp, fart and take a dump in pastures of other states or countries thus destroying the planet anyway.. Why don't we just let them be?

Busy. Lot going on at home and work. Out of town on business right now, matter of fact.
