AUFAN78 3,926
I've seen quite a bit of this conspiracy chatter of late. Almost all of it from former CIA/NSA Patriots. When Consortium News, a highly respected independent (although slightly left leaning) source started publishing these pieces recently I took particular interest. I'll paste a couple links here for your convenience, but recommend you visit their site. If nothing else, these guys provide food for thought. https://consortiumnews.com/2017/05/19/do-high-level-leaks-suggest-a-conspiracy/ https://consortiumnews.com/2017/05/20/the-gaping-holes-of-russia-gate/
homersapien 11,425
Since this is the snarkless forum, I'll try to put this delicately: High level leaks are an indicator of a competency-challenged chief executive.
TexasTiger 12,992
High level leaks may suggest deep concern and a lack of confidence/trust in the executive branch to address corruption.

AUFAN78 3,926
More to consider.......... The report also contained a warning about how unreliable these “assessments” could be: “Judgments are not intended to imply that we have proof that shows something to be a fact. Assessments are based on collected information, which is often incomplete or fragmentary, as well as logic, argumentation, and precedents.” In other words, “assessing” in intelligence terms often equates with “guessing” – and if the guessers are hand-picked by political appointees – it shouldn’t be surprising that they would come up with an “assessment” that would please their bosses, in this case, President Obama and his appointees at CIA, NSA, FBI and ODNI. https://consortiumnews.com/2017/05/23/new-cracks-in-russia-gate-assessment/
maxwere 82
This is all cover for other goings on in the world. Outside of rhetoric would the world be a .01% different place if HRC was president? The invisible powers of oligarchs foreign and domestic are far less concerned with who gets elected and far more concerned with how to coerce them once they get there. (They are especially unconcerned with social issues.) Where are the strings? 99% of world power is consolidated under the cartels of non-elected public office, central banks and corporatist mega giants anyway. On the whole, very little changes every 4 years. We, the people, insure that by constantly focusing on fear mongering and trivial matters.

If there is a political appointee trying to influence intelligence statements, then name the suspects. Bottom line, this line of argument is a totally bogus excuse for Trump's own ineptitude. Ask us again after we see if Trump's budgetary goals have any traction. A better question would be how much real damage can he do before he's replaced.
