I caught this dig in the Post-Herald today:

According to a recent story in the Denver Post, a National Park Service crew is cleaning the granite presidential faces on Mount Rushmore of "more than 65 years of dirt, grime, living lichens and pigeon droppings." Hopefully once the workers are finished, they will travel to Tuscaloosa and perform a similar job on the Alabama athletic program.

I've been told that an economic study was done concerning this very matter ... for the UAT program. It was not found to be cost effective. It was determined to be cheaper to rebuild Tuscalooser somewhere else than clean up all the crap down there.
