TexasTiger 14,606
The deep red Southern states lead with most regressive tax rates. Are these states citizens getting their money’s worth? If so, by what measures is that demonstrated? Not infant mortality, life expectancy or educational attainment. Are these states poorly run? It seems to me these tax dollars are showing much return on investment. Factoring the combination of state and average local sales tax, the top five highest total sales tax states as ranked by the Tax Foundation for 2021 are: Tennessee 9.55% Louisiana 9.52% Arkansas 9.51% Washington 9.23% Alabama 9.22%
johnnyAU 3,745
Tennessee's sales tax is high, but they don't have a state income tax on top of that.

GoAU 1,696
This is only one factor - as there are several different tax models. Even so, just looking at the amount of taxes collected is only a part of the problem - because we all know that governments are great stewards of our tax dollars. jj3jordan 2,172
FL no state income tax, modest property tax, @7% or so sales tax and food from grocery stores is not taxed.

FL has the enviable position of being able to have tourists foot a significant amount of their tax revenue through hotels and such.

Which is why it's so weird DeSantis would pick a fight with one of their biggest draws.
GoAU 1,696
We could probably debate who picked the fight, but Disney is definitely “pot committed” - they aren’t going anywhere.
