Popular Post Dwayne Pride 379
Auburn sports have provided me some of the highest highs and lowest lows of my life. I became physically ill when Auburn lost to Tennessee in the early 80’s. I rushed the field after the Kick 6, despite a torn Achilles. In the big scheme of things, neither of those matter. I became a third time grandfather last week. One of the stalwarts of this forum is dealing with uncertainty and anxiety over a health issue. They know who they are and haven’t started a thread about it but if you dig, you’ll see. This is Iron Bowl week but it is also Thanksgiving week. I am thankful for my family, as much as they annoy me. That extends to all of you. I am thankful for Auburn, a truly special place. I am thankful that I have a place to share my thoughts with (little to) no judgment. I am thankful that I am not Dave. War Damn. In fact (and very few will understand), War Damn Six. 8 1
JuscAUse! 1,508
First time Grandpa and he's named after me! Puts EVERYTHING in perspective. Happy Thanksgiving, God bless, and War Eagle. Oh...... And that UT loss was awful. Barfield's last year I think. Edited November 22, 2023 by JuscAUse! The one I am talking about was 1981. 10-7 and we had a shot at the end after losing 0-42 the year before in those god awful orange jerseys. It was actually Dye’s first year and I was filled with hope.

I was talking about the 42-0 crap the year before at home.

Perspective is definitely useful in sports. People dealing with real stuff and football just doesn’t rank up there with health issues and just family time in general. In the end it’s not about who lost but who you lost that matters.

When my daughter was born in ‘87 it was the day before the Iron Bowl. After the game I put an Auburn stick on her hospital crib that said “10-0 War Eagle”. Everyone that went to view the babies in the window (different experience in those days) saw it. Had to start her off right. 😁
