Actually, I was giving your education challenged friend a break. I counted y’all as a real word. It is a contraction of you and all. Hence y’all, not ya’ll. The possessive form is spelled y’all’s. You’ve learned something today. So you have that going for you. I won’t bother explaining the grammar problems at his time. It would just make your head explode.
