Auburn's greatest football cry, War Eagle, took on feathered form in 1930 when this golden eagle was found on a farm near Auburn entangled in thick pea vines. Bought for ten dollars by local businessmen, the eagle was turned over to the A-Club. Cheerleaders DeWit Stier (left) and Harry "Happy" Davis, later executive secretary of the Alumni Association, helped care for the new mascot, which quickly proved a good omen. Auburn hadn?t beaten a Southern Conference football foe in four seasons until the eagle attended the 25-7 victory over South Carolina at Columbia in the last game of 1930. -- Photo: The Auburn Alumnews

From the AU website:

University officials at halftime will also present six-year-old golden eagle Nova as the next official Auburn eagle, War Eagle VII. Nova and 11-year-old bald eagle Spirit have been making pre-game flights for three years and five years, respectively.

“Auburn has had golden eagles since the late 1800s, and now Nova will uphold the tradition of promoting Auburn and wildlife conservation,” said Marianne Murphy, who trains AU’s eagles with colleague Roy Crowe. “We are very privileged to have such a unique tradition at Auburn University.”

So, don't know if Nova will be "Tiger" but will be "War Eagle VII" and IS a golden eagle for some of you"purists".

I wonder if Tiger will do one last flight for the Georgia pre-game. The ceremony for the eagles will be one MORE thing to make the game great!
