But not too hot for our troops to fight and die.

This is why the surge won't work. The rationale was to buy time for the Iraq government to "work." It ain't working.

White House discusses Iraqi parliament's schedule

Associated Press - July 13, 2007 4:43 PM ET

WHITE HOUSE (AP) - The White House says it looks like members of Iraq's parliament will be taking August off after all -- instead of continuing work on efforts to stabilize their country.

Spokesman Tony Snow says Iraqi lawmakers could change their minds, but he noted temperatures can hit 130 degrees in Baghdad in August.

When a reporter reminded him that US troops will keep on fighting in the same heat, he said "that's a good point."

Apples and oranges. Give the surge time to work.

Not apples and oranges. The "surge" was intended to "create space for political progress." That can't happen if they take the month off. We can't want it more than they do. Even Bill O'Reilly seems to get that.
