I really think Southern Mississippi is going to regret firing Jeff Bower.

This time last year, I would have gladly taken Bower at Alabama. It's hard to comprehend that he's been shown the door in Hattiesburg.

As Galen posted in another thread, he was Southern Miss. I'm surprised to say the least.

My mouth dropped when I heard that USM fired Bower. I agree with you and GG, I was looking forward to Bower vs Tubby next year.

Tubs and Auburn would have likely won, but you can bet Bower and his bunch wouldn't have gone down without a fight.

I've sat in Bryant-Denny many a time and watched his scrawny bunch of nobody's play us to the bitter end -- even beat us on occasion. He gets a lot of his players, and has accomplished much more at USM than they'll ever achieve without him.

just read on another board that Dubose really wants the USM job. That would be a massive mistake for USM, IMO. Take it for what its worth.

I just hope they hire a guy with the initial S so they don't have to scrape all the stickers off their cars. That's the real reason Saban replaced Shula. The REC'ers didn't want to have to swap them out.

DuBose, huh? I've got mixed feelings on that. I recognize that he's a good defensive line coach, but it will take a while for me to believe that he won't be in too deep as a head coach at a I-A program.

He wouldn't be my first choice. I'll put it like that.

yeah, i got the text message from ESPN and was just like ".....huh??". that one kind of came out of the blue, and not sure why.
