Lebo, AU very fortunate to have him

Rarely do it visit the basketball section, but today has been the exception. Actually came in to look for information about our latest basketball recruits. The first thread was about Lebo and read like something one would expect to find on a UAT site condemning one of their coaches. It was packed full folderol about Lebo and his "poor" basketball coaching. There were several that agreed with the premise, but there were also several that displayed common sense about the excellent job Lebo has done considering what all the bad luck the basketball program has experienced.

It will surprise me if another school doesn't try to hire him away from us. Can't you imagine what he could do given the numbers and talent at some of the other schools? AU is very fortunate to have Lebo leading the basketball program. I hope he will remain with AU for a very long time.

Now, to locate information about our basketball recruits.

You know I rarely visit this section also, and it kills me that after Auburn has beat LSU & Ole Miss (thats a lot coming from our program and the luck it has had), there are a ton of replied about hating Jeff Lebo, and not so many praising our win... War Damn Eagle, and War Damn Jeff Lebo!

I'm on the Lebo bandwagon too; I'm confident that in 2 to 3 years he will have the program as high as everyone else around him will let him take it...

Well next years class is probably one of the best ever to come to Auburn...

Leading the way are two highly thought of JUCO guys. The top one is Tay Waller. A 3 point specialist. He had more 3's last year than the entire Auburn team did. I believe he is making 47% or so of his threes. His teammate coming is Johnnie Lett. He is a PF... 6'9ish. He probably won't start but will give Vot and Dollard some valuable rest.

Now with the freshman coming in... The best player is Frankie Sullivan. He is a PG out of Uniontown, AL. The next best guy is PF Kenny Gabriel. Both are Top 150 players.

Lebo already has his first commitment for the 2009 class in Robert Chubb. He is a 6'9 kid out of Ga.

Next year will be interesting to see how Lebo utilizes the talent that will be all around the club. If he can figure out how to rotate the guys in and out to give them rest; this should be a very talented bunch that will surprise alot of people.

By the way, this years class has been mentioned as a Top 25 class. With our facilities and lack of fan support, any coach that can pull that off is doing something right.

Thanks for the recruiting summary. The basketball program appears to be moving in the right direction.

Please learn to type. Thanks for the effort birdofprey. But please don't embarrass yourself anymore.

I don't ever expect us to go to the Final Four. Is it possible? Maybe. But not probable. I'm not an Auburn Basketball fan for the "opportunity" to see us go deep in the postseason. I'm an Auburn Basketball fan because I believe in Auburn and Love it.

Great Post autkidd. I agree 100%. I am an Auburn fan, and I love winning. But more than winning I want to be proud when I watch people playing for Auburn. And when I watch Lebo and our basketball team I see what Auburn is all about. They put everything on the line night in and night out and give Auburn the best they possibly can. And yes there is room for improvement. But if they go out an give the effort every night like they have been giving all season, then that is what Auburn is all about. Giving it your best. And thats what Lebo and these guys do. Its great to be an Auburn Tiger.

Lebo is giving everything he has and is a great coach. The players are playing their tails off, and the university is finally going to put their money where their mouth is with the new facility. When are we going to support this program like it deserves to be supported? I am preaching to myself as much as anyone else, but I get so frustrated when I hear that Auburn fans don't care about basketball. I LOVE Auburn basketball and wish I could make it to more games. Anyway, please forgive me for my rant.
