RunInRed 16,489
I finally picked Paul. Call it a protest vote. What about you? I'll give Paul one thing...he sure does have his signs everwhere. Although, I haven't seen any tv commercials for him so I guess there's the difference. I guess he'll finish 4th.

RunInRed 16,489
Voting for any one but McCain in the Republican party is essentially throwing away your vote. Therefore, if nothing else, it makes sense for the Repubs to vote against Hillary

Therefore, if nothing else, it makes sense for the Repubs to vote against Hillary You know, I really hate that mentality. It's shallow and completely ignores the fact that an election is about competing ideas about how we consent to be governed. We're not betting on a horse. So when I voted for Ron Paul, I made my voice known on which candidate best represents my political views. I was thumbing my nose at the statists and the social conservatives who have somehow appropriated the party. And, in the event of a deadlocked convention, Ron Paul delegates may have a very loud voice in determining both party platform and the GOP candidate. RunInRed 16,489
Dumb comparison. Any given team can beat some one on any given day. Drumbing up thousands of votes out of mid air from candidates whose positions are cleary rejected by voters - now that would be a miracle.

TitanTiger 20,511
I decided to vote for the person who most closely reflected my views. Had it been neck and neck here in Alabama between McCain and Romney, maybe I'd have voted differently. But it's pretty apparent McCain will win so I voted my views. Tiger in Spain 0
Voting for any one but McCain in the Republican party is essentially throwing away your vote. Therefore, if nothing else, it makes sense for the Repubs to vote against Hillary When people start actually doing research on the candidates in order to cast an informed and educated vote, our political system may correct itself. This quote highlights my theory that most people vote as if they were picking numbers for the GD lottery. For them, it's not about what the candidate stands for; it's about who happens to be the most popular (media choice) candidate. When voters decide to think for themselves instead of being lemmings, the country will be a lot better off.

Back in December or even early January, nobody would have given your guy a chance in hell. So were those voters in New Hampshire or Iowa throwing away their votes? Of course not. RunInRed 16,489
No votes had been cast at that point, so how is that analogy even on par? Voting for Ron Paul TODAY would be like voting for Dennis Kucinich. Voting for Huckabee/Romney, would be equivalent for voting for Edwards about a week ago. I'm not saying vote the favorites, in fact I could careless who you cast your vote in favor of - just vote. I still stand by my comment - McCain is a lock b/c none of the other three have enough support, resources or funding nationwide. It will all be over soon and then all of you can start your bitching about the socialist Dems again. How long do you think it will take for the argument to shift from this topic to why Hillary/Obama must be defeated by McCain? Answer: about 24 hours.
