Matthew 25:31-46 (New International Version)

31"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. 32All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

37"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

46"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

What if Christ gave this sermon in America today? Where would America stand in relation to Christ? He clearly states how nations will be judged. Are we damned by what we do and not do? What if he then assessed our deeds as a nation and said we were coming up short, and that we needed to change our ways, or risked damnation?

Of course we are damned. This nation was based on the Christian religion. The state biblically derives it's power from God. We have bastardized that so that the state derives it's power from itself. That type of nation has no morals or basis to stand. We will fall. And it will be from within. So here's to throwing God out on his ass. We will see where it gets us. Or just maybe we are so smart today that we are God.

Considering many of the founding fathers weren't Christian... interesting...

I just recently found this web page regarding this subject while looking up quotes of our Founding Fathers on a number of topics.

Pretty Interesting

Please stop using our Founding Fathers' own words. You may confuse some with fact.

Whether some like to believe it or not, this country was founded by people that believed in a Judioa-Christian God. However, they also did not wish that to be a requirement of citizenship, so other beliefs had just as much rights.

Getting back to Tex's intent of this thread, he is right on with that scripture.

What were they, Buhdists?

You need to delve into the real history of the founding fathers. Even Ben Franklin approved of prayer before the assemblies. He saw the power of it and even made a speech that the assembly should continue to do it. They all agreed that religion (Christianity) and morals were the only thing that would make our government work. Too many new age folks pull out a few quotes and stick to it. Like the supposed separation of church and state. That is nowhere to be found in the constitution. And almost all of the founding fathers agreed that the two should never be separate. Funny how when the bible was the basis fr education in this country, many could read and write with almost any scholar in the world. Now that education is the basis of education, we teach our kids that they only exist for the greater good of society.

The religious and moral education of youth was paramount in early American schools. The first book in the classroom was the Bible. It was central to a child’s education, not only for its content, but the way it was used to build skills. Students learned how to read using the Bible. Much of the school day was devoted to memorizing and reciting passages from it, and passages were copied to learn penmanship.

The first textbook was the New England Primer, used between 1760 and 1843. The most popular schoolbook in the nineteenth century was the McGuffey Reader, introduced in 1836. Based on landmarks of world literature, the set of six readers, which increased in difficulty, were the basis for teaching literacy, as well as basic values such as honesty and charity. The readers gave the teacher flexibility she lacked before, allowing her to more easily teach a classroom of pupils of different ages and levels. Tens of millions of copies were sold in the nineteenth century. In rural America the McGuffey Reader was often the only exposure people had to world literature.

Little link

Where are ethics, honor, or charity taught today in our schools? We started out on the right path but somehow the enlightened ones decided we were too good for God.

Then how come you don't have to take a religious test to run for public office like other countries that our founding fathers left to come here.(Property confiscated, imprisiment, torture, harassment, murder all by countries who had a state sponsored Christian religion)
