Isn't this guy the fastest, or one of the fastest players in Georgia? I think this is a better pickup than most rating services will say right now. Word is he is a big-time hitter too.

Also a 3-star on ESPN (79.6 is a 4 star, and he is some kind of 79)

Jones is why you don't judge a book by its cover. He is listed at 5-foot-9 and 165-pounds but hits like a 225-pound linebacker and is very explosive. Shorter frame draws some concern when matched up versus today's bigger college receivers and setting the edge on run support.

Jonathan Jones, AJC Super 11 selection, picks Auburn over Mississippi State and Georgia Tech

Jonathan Jones, who is considered Georgia’s “fastest football recruit”, committed to Auburn on Saturday after visiting the SEC school.

The 5-foot-10, 172-pound defensive back from Carrollton High School picked Auburn over his other two finalists of Mississippi State and Georgia Tech, among a dozen scholarship offers. Jones was an AJC Super 11 selection, and also a candidate for the Junior Olympics in the hurdles.

“I liked everything about Auburn, from the winning tradition to the coaching staff, along with the proximity from home,” Jones told the AJC. “Coach [Gene Chizik] made it feel like one big family at Auburn, and that’s one thing I really liked.”

Jones is a three-year starter at Carrollton, which played for the state championship last season. He is also a superstar in track. Last May, Jones finished first in the 110-meter hurdles (14.02 seconds) and 300-meter hurdles (37.39) and won the Class AAA all-points trophy, while leading Carrollton to its second team championship in a row. This summer, Jones toured the country for track, including meets in California and North Carolina. He registered a personal record of 13.72 in the 110 at the New Balance Outdoor Invitational.

“In my 26 years, I don’t think I’ve ever had a corner as good as Jonathan — that has that tenacity with hitting and tackling and that kind of speed,” Carrollton coach Rayvan Teague told the AJC. “I’ve had guys who had more picks but not a kid that is the total package like Jonathan. The sky is the limit for him. He’s a great kid and a great competitor. There’s no doubt he’s a Div. I corner because of his speed and hips. But he hits like a Div. I safety, which makes him kind of special.”

He and my son are on the same summer track team.He told him at Nationals (Jr Olympics) few weeks ago he was going to commit to Auburn. He can fly.

Kind of on the small side. Read that he was a "big" hitter though. Size and speed would make him a perfect RETURN man. I've heard that word before but can't remember what it means (especially punt returns).
