Davis commits to AuburnBy Jim Lamar One of the Big Bend’s top football prospects made his college choice early Tuesday afternoon. Godby High defensive back T.J. Davis committed to Auburn University, choosing the Tigers over Notre Dame, Alabama, Florida State and TCU (among others). Godby coach Ronnie Cottrell said Davis informed Auburn coaches at 2:30 p.m. of his decision. “He had offers from all over the country, but he chose Auburn,” Cottrell said. Davis, a cornerback, is rated a three-star prospect and the No. 55 overall prospect in Florida by Rivals.com. The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder has trimmed his list of schools to Florida State, Ohio State, Auburn, Alabama, TCU and Notre Dame. He wouldn't be the first one, or even the first one this year, to commit when he didn't have a commitable offer. The guys at Rivals, Scout and 247 are normally all over a real, accepted commitment.
