Even though this is an AL.com article and we all know they are no fans of Auburn, I found this and thought it was pretty interesting.  I saw a discussion in a thread on the swimming/diving program and part of that conversation was to eliminate all sports that weren't self supporting.   That isn't at all a realistic thing to do, but these may open some eyes here as to what it takes to do "game days" at Auburn across all sports.   I'm struggling to figure out why game days cost so much for each of these sports, and there are no details given as to what is included in these expenses on each sport.  

These could also be numbers al.com pulled out of their ass and not even close to being accurate information.   Regardless, interesting conversation anyway.   Keep in mind this is just game day expenses for each sport and consider the source as well.

Game Day By The Numbers

According to the U.S. Department of Education, Auburn spends a little over $12 million on game day operating expenses for their women's and men's athletic teams. We've broken it down by sport and arranged them from least expensive to most expensive to show where Auburn spends their money.

Of that $12,233,678 total, men's teams cost $7,328,885 to support 289 athletes and women's teams account for $4,904,793 to support 306 athletes.
