As Auburn reloads it secondary this offseason two newcomers quickly made an impression during spring practice.

Cornerback Christian Tutt and safety Quindarious "Smoke" Monday, both early enrollees, made their presence felt during the first four practices before spring break.

"Smoke is a long, long player. He's got long arms, he's got good speed," safety Jeremiah Dinson said. "Tutt has good speed, his feet really surprised me. Good feet at the line. Both of them are making really good plays. That's what we need. We need someone to step up this year. It's going good for those guys."

Tutt and Monday as well as fellow freshman early enrollee Jamien Sherwood worked with the second-team defense during Auburn's first four spring practices.

With Javaris Davis and Jamel Dean returning and Carlton Davis gone, the Tigers have to decide who will be their third and fourth outside corners in the fall.

Tutt could be in line for one of those spots based on the early reviews of his teammates.

Prior to tearing his anterior cruciate ligament, wide receiver Eli Stove said he beat Tutt on one play but the freshman did a good job of defending.

"Christian has been standing out pretty well," linebacker DeShaun Davis said.

Monday has been with Sherwood at safety, where Auburn has to replace four players including both starters from last season.

Dean said the communication has been going well on the field with Monday, who spent some time with the first-team defense as well.

"He's looking real good out there," Dean said. "He's picking up on the defense. He's actually making plays out there, too. ... If we're rotating to keep guys fresh in the back end, he should be able to help (in the fall)."

Is it too early to claim a man crush for the fall?

Should we expect another 10 minute fight scene?

No fight scene on this one. @bigbird has been crushin' on Monday since long before Monday signed with Auburn.

Than any love light I see shining in your eyes".

Dude's got the right of prior possession.
