To piggy back on my bro Gwill, they literally have a super booster financing essentially the whole NIL portion of their basketball program. The guard Wong saw what Pack was making from NIL ($800K), then negotiated his way into a "raise" after threatening to transfer. He then followed that up by earning more for himself, leading the team to an ACC championship, being ACC POTY, and of course a Final Four birth. Of course, it's a unique situation for one person to be supporting the whole roster and taking care of the NIL aspect of things but they've got a clear cut system and it's paying off for them

Their guards are studs. Omier is a hell of a 5 man even though he's undersized. They have a very well constructed team

You just can't play 2 non-stretch 5s at the same time. With a team that already can't shoot it would be some ugly basketball trying to get points and whoever was guarding the 4 would be relentlessly attacked on defense by someone they wouldn't be able to keep up with. I like our 5s. Cardwell is just a super solid backup center and a nice fit in his role IMO

I for one appreciate Dylan playing within his limits and looking to kick out for a shooter or get someone else look for a good shot instead of him heaving up some contested clunker. Not saying he needs to do that every time but I think it's a good play not to force something

How Wendell doesn't turn this possession to a dunk for Flan is straight up unacceptable for a PG at a program like ours. I can't get over it. He even had Broome. Both guys are behind the defense. Of course this was the possession where he, yet again, sharted himself in crunch time with a ridiculous turnover when we needed a bucket.

I hope this loss pulls us down to a 10 seed. We really need to play a team with small guards or maybe a mid major opponent could allow our overall athleticism to be a difference maker in the first round

Here's the thing. We were stuck with major emergency backup plans at our guard spots because Sharife Cooper left before what was originally planned, Justin Powell who was supposed to be a multi-year player transferred, NIL wasn't a thing yet so Scoot Henderson chose a $1 million deal with the G League over playing for not a million dollars, in that time span we also had 4 star SG Trey Alexander who was commited to us for a while decommit amidst the NCAA BS that was all for nothing if I'm not mistaken. He has been balling at Creighton - 2nd on the team in PPG and a 41% 3 point shooter on the season which is EXACTLY what this team needs. So all of that hits us and the whole foundation of our backcourt and future backcourt gets ripped out from under us and we scramble and get guys who went to Eastern Kentucky and College of Charleston and ask them to carry the load in the SEC. And Bruce could have pushed them out but maybe he told them he wouldn't recruit over them to get them here in the first place, I mean I'm just speculating but it's not like Bruce has some track record of mis-evaluating talent, particularly guards. He is definitely loyal to his guys. He was hyping Jaylin Williams the moment the season ended last year. He was loyal to J'Von McCormick and let him have his senior year running the show. But Broome is about as good of a replacement we could have dreamed for to replace the national defensive player of the year. Traore and Westry both have given us very close to zero and we needed them to be key contributors. Mix all that up and here we are. But we have a McDonald's All-American PG coming in with Aden Holloway, and a year after that Philon is coming in so our backcourt should be back to what we expect our of AU guards very soon. That being said, we aren't here because Bruce necessarily "mismanaged" the roster we had a bunch of bounces go against us and he had to patchwork this roster. If he pushed those guys out after recruiting them 9 months prior I feel like it may have an adverse effect in recruiting, particularly when his new timeline was in motion - - get stud guard prospects starting next year and beyond.

Wendell Green may be the most frustrating PG we've had since Kareem Canty. Adjusted for expectations as a program. Harper was frustrating as a freshman but really put it together as he gained more experience
