  1. How did our spring's physicality compare with last year or the previous years?
  2. I would be so happy if we start getting creative again on first downs.
  3. This is weird because, I think Stat showed us at one point, that on first downs we run up the middle like 75-80% of the time or something obnoxious. How many times did CAP or Peyton Barber just ram the right guard straight in the back for a 2 yard gain over the last 2 seasons?
  4. True but I don't seem to remember so many AU-UT battles or UT as competition for the kids we go after until Butch got there. Admittedly, I only started to keep up with recruiting (if you can even call it that) until '07-'08 or so. Also this is the culmination of their "come build with us" recruiting pitch and marketing plan, if they flop I think it could take some of the air out of UT's allure right now.
  5. With the rapey vibes at UT I hope they have a season like we had last year so they can stop competing with us for players.
  6. This is awesome! I've seen where's listed as a SF/PF as well as considered as a frontcourt pickup. Is he more of a big man or does he have a perimeter player's skillset?
  7. hack-a-wiley?? As someone else said he'll fit right in with us haha
  8. This makes me want to put money on AU. But the fact that I put money on JJ to win the Heisman before the national guys ran with his Heisman hype and for AU to win the SEC championship last season makes me weary...I had only bet on AU once before and that was the AU/UT SEC CHampionship game in 1997. Dameyune Craig vs Peyton Manning. That was a heartbreaker. So all my AU and betting experiences are not good ones eeesh
  9. I will give you this, though: Gatewood is actually the first guy you can say style wise is actually comparable to Cam. I guess I always cringe when I see people trying to compare other QBs favorably to Cam when in reality they aren't close. But this JG thread might've been the wrong place to vent. I was thinking more production wise, but visually his style is similar especially in the ways you described. However, I said this whole same thing about JJ when his hype train was cranked all the way up before the season started and people were name dropping Cam in regards to how good JJ was going to be. Nobody knew he'd flop as bad as he did but even on his best day stylistically you just can't compare the 2.
  10. True there is a big difference between the 2 statements.
  11. We have to stop with the Cam comparisons for the reasons you mentioned. OK then. He reminded me of Dante Culpepper at UCF. No Joke. Is that better? lol Culpepper was a beast but none of these kids will understand what that means since he was playing when these high schoolers were still soiling their diapers. We are setting ourselves up to be disappointed in these kids when they don't live up to unattainable goals. Cam Newton is a mutant that fell out of the sky onto the plains and I don't think for the rest of my life I'll see anybody as good as he was on the college level, so I am comfortable avoiding Cam comparisons altogether. Even if he says it himself I think it's unfair for media and fans to expect that from him
  12. We have to stop with the Cam comparisons for the reasons you mentioned. So you saw the gif and didn't see any similarities to Cam? That was the comparison being made... I did. But I also see lots of other college prospects put crazy moves on high schoolers too. I just think we have helped in ruining a few QBs by casting the Cam Newton shadow on them. Matching Cam's production shouldn't be on the mind of anyone, fans or these QBs, IMO because it's literally an impossible feat to accomplish. We have heard of Kiehl Frazier was going to be baby Cam. Then JJ. I think it's unnecessary pressure on a young guy when they need to be able to learn at their own pace and be their own guy instead of trying to fill Cam's shoes. My rant's not really directed at you but kind of how I feel about the Cam comparison's as a whole.
  13. We have to stop with the Cam comparisons for the reasons you mentioned.
  14. The issue to me is that we have wanted a MNC for so long because it shows what the program has achieved and also the great benefits you get from winning one, AKA future success (due to recruiting, national media, etc). This program seems so far removed from the MNC that it might as well have happened during Tubs' tenure. We had the crystal ball only 2 years ago (!!!!), and worst case last year at 8-5 was supposed to be the rebuilding. Auburn should be on track for 9-10 wins this season especially with the favorable home schedule. Also, the lack of discipline and dumb penalties was alarming from GAME ONE under Chiz. The program needs to be back on track and with how things have fallen apart this season, a clean reboot is what is necessary IMO. Once the players lose respect for their coach there is no turning back. Also, when your rivals want your coach to be retained it is very telling of what needs to be done...
