  1. Ole Miss still has an identity problem. The Rebel mascot is long gone. The Rebel Black Bear mascot thing flopped. The Landshark thing took over as Mascot in 2018, but they are still the Rebels, for now. The faculty still makes noises about dropping the nickname Ole Miss.
  2. Did see the terrible condition of the Colorado football field? If you can’t manage the turf, you’re not a decent football program. Fix the grass or put in artificial turf.
  3. Finebaum made a fortune off talking endlessly about schools breaking the rules.
  4. Except with a streaming service there no contracts or equipment you need. You can start using a new streaming service in minutes with Smart TV or Roku box. No wait for an installer. I’m on YouTube Tv and dropped DirecTV. Better cheaper service.
  5. California’s Memorial Stadium has the Haywood fault line running end zone to end zone. 😳 they put in field tuff so it not visible like it once was
  6. Europe has a lot of license sported TV networks like the BBC. They allow some commercials during sporting events.
  7. the guy is a walkon transfer at Arky who hasn’t played for 2 years due to injuries. He was at Ole Miss for one year as a 3 star recruit. Very strange and serious allegations made on an anonymous instagram account, then Arky dismisses the player from the team. If true the guy need a good criminal defense attorney, if false he needs a good civil law attorney to sue.
  8. Some of Frist’s proposal have potential to reduce gun murders or suicides, but they focus on law abiding people following the laws. red flag laws are good if they follow due process. That means they take time to implement for a high risk person. If a potential shooter / killer has family or friends they have to take action and they usually don’t. The Nashville school shooter’s mother was anti gun, yet she didn’t even check her daughter’s room or car for weapons when she knew she had at least one. The Louisville bank shooter’s parents didn't notify police until it was too late. Both shooters were in therapy of some type. The Nashville RV bomber’s girlfriend and neighbors never thought of him as someone who might kill. changing the minimum age to legally purchase a firearm would have be the same age for everyone to be Constitutional. The 21 age only for handgun purchases has been successfully challenged in federal court. The major problem with gun related murders and mass shootings is with less that 3% of the population. Black males between ages 14 to 30 murder the majority of people. They obtain their handguns illegally by private sale or theft. The 5 killers in Dadeville are prime examples. They obtained the handguns illegally and at least 2 guns had been illegally modified to fire full automatic. One was even wearing an ankle GPS tracker based on another weapons charge. 2 of the dead victims had handguns. It will take many years to change that culture of death and collect all the weapons. Biometric safeties on firearms might work, but it would be expensive and only new firearms would be equipped. mental health and drug abuse therapy may work for some, but not all. It can’t be voluntary, it must be mandatory which the courts have not often required. Some of the these people will have to institutionalized for treatment. This needs to be done regardless of the firearm issue.
  9. There’s good reason to raise the driving age to 18. Several thousand people each year die in car accidents caused by drivers under 18. More than are killed by shootings using AR15 type rifles.
  10. A 5th shooter has just been arrested. They have in custody 3 shooters from Tuskegee and 2 from Auburn. none of their proposed ideas for legislation would have kept handguns from these 5 shooters. The guns were probably stolen or illegally purchased. I read a comment by an older man in Dadeville. He said many young black males don’t settle arguments in fistfights, they now pull out guns.
  11. Baldwin skates. The Wall Street Journal stated they have a source who reports the gun was modified to fire without a trigger pull??? He’s already gone off to finish filming the movie in Montana.
  12. The core problem with the US or and other country’s historical involvement in Afghanistan is that Afghanistan is not a nation-state. Afghanistan was thrown together in the 19th century as a buffer state between Czarist Russia and the British Empire. The number of ethnic groups, clans, languages and cultures there make forming a nation-state almost impossible. It took the moslems 200 years to make Islam the main religion there. We wasted 20 years, of blood, and treasure there trying to implement western style representative democracy to see it disappear in days. Perhaps it should be split up among the neighboring countries based on ethnicity. If they want it.
  13. Carter is as guilty of the 2 misdemeanors as the dead woman who drove the SUV. That said, she wrecked and killed herself and one passenger while she was under the influence of alcohol. Carter was charged with reckless driving and racing misdemeanors that have fines up to $1000 and 12 months in jail. I would have loaded him up with community service and suspended sentence. I’m not sure he lost his driver’s license, but should have. He was ticketed in Athens in Sept for doing 95 mph.
  14. It takes at least 2 to do something stupid and illegal like street racing. The driver of the SUV rented by the school paid with her life. I’m not sure putting the other driver in jail is of any value.
  15. No one outside China really knows how good the Chinese military is. They have nukes, which is enough by itself. We continue to arm Taiwan and keep US forces nearby China has been obsessed for the last 74 years with taking over Taiwan. They never give up. ironically the Republic of China still controls 3 small groups of islands only a few miles off the coast of the mainland. Red China has not tired to take those islands in the last 70 years.
  16. It only took the Nashville police 14 minutes from being called, responding and killing the shooter.
  17. Yep, she was a 38 year old Iranian American woman who had a major grudge against YouTube for not paying her for video views. She used a 9mm pistol and shot 20 times. She wounded 3 people and saved the last round to commit suicide.
  18. There are very few of them. Female mass shooters typical use handguns and shoot people in an inner city residence. The national media takes no interest.
  19. It doesn’t get much press coverage, but after the Tuscaloosa shooting, Miles returned to his apartment with the wounded Davis. During an police search of the University Downs apartment, a Mini Draco — a large AK-style semi automatic pistol resembling an AK-47 — was recovered, along with a .40 caliber handgun police believe was the weapon Davis could be seen firing.
  20. We’ve tried doing that starting with the LBJ Great Society. Things have gotten worse with more violence and death. There is a culture of death in inner cities that spreads out to other areas. Most school shootings are black on black using handguns, usually in parking lots. The AR-15 shooters are usually white on white mass shootings I’m OK with raising the purchase age for a semi auto rifle to 21 with a waiting period, if SCOTUS doesn’t eventually ban the age restrictions. Handguns already have a 21 purchase age. The inner city killers that make up less than 3% of the population commit over 50% of gun homicides in the US using handguns. Tying to confiscate all handguns is almost impossible. Ask the Australians Changing the inner city culture will take decades, but maybe the only hope. We’re not only faced with gun violence, but also a drug culture that is rotting away at the country. The government some people want to ban or heavily restrict guns can’t control illegal drugs or immigrant ion.
  21. The new EV factory will be on purchased land. The NC Department of Transportation is using eminent domain to acquire land along exits from US 1 to widen secondary roads near the intersections. They expect more traffic due to people working at the factory. As usual bad reporting and headlines in some earlier stories. https://chathamnewsrecord.com/stories/despite-threats-merry-oaks-community-persists,15157
  22. Someone named Miller had a bad night. If it weren’t for foul shots UAT wouldn’t been in this game.
